corina (molteneyes) Anyone up for a genderbend Sherlock?

It would be based off of BBC's Sherlock, except all the characters would be opposite gender and a little younger. I was thinking a few years out of college. It'd be set in modern day London. I'm still working out some plot ideas. Characters would be Sherlock Holmes, Joanna/Joan/Joanne Watson, Jill(?) Moriarty, and (insert guy name instead of Molly) Hooper. I think that's most of the main characters. Minor would include Lestrade, possibly Irene and Mary, etc. I would be Sherlock, you'd be Watson, rest would be up to however it ends up.

Strongly recommended: posts of at least 3-5 sent, proper grammar, has seen BBC Sherlock through His Last Vow, won't abandon rp or not post for days.

After all, Sherlock is a girl's name.

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Great! Hi!

message 3: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Hola, chica!

Alright, I'm still trying to get my plot idea together completely (which is pretty hard to do while watching Supernatural), so I'm not totally sure on that yet. If you want, we can go ahead with characters. And I was thinking about starting before they end up being flatmates?

message 4: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Supernatural is the best!

That sounds good, yeah.

message 5: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Yeah, it is!

Alright. I doubt I'll have Sherlock up by tonight, terribly sorry, but spn, you know...

message 6: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments I get it! I'll have mine tomorrow probably not tonight. I'm watching adventure time.

message 7: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Haha, tv shows take precedence XD

corina (molteneyes) Yup. And so sorry I haven't gotten Sherly up yet, the appearance is killing me.

message 11: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments I feel yah! I'm looking for a picture as well

message 12: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Oh, just an idea, try Carey Mulligan.

message 13: by corina (last edited Apr 06, 2014 06:36PM) (new)

corina (molteneyes) I was wondering what your opinion was b/n these for Sherly's appearance...
(view spoiler)

message 14: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Those are all cool; I really like the bottom one.

I think I'll use Carey Mulligan, but would you prefer her with long or short hair?

message 15: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Marion Cotillard it is, then

Either, though I like short.

message 16: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) I'll probably be posting only the appearance today, and then going back and editing in the other info.

message 17: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Alright sounds good, I dunno how much I'll have

message 18: by corina (last edited Apr 12, 2014 06:17PM) (new)

corina (molteneyes) Name: Sherlock Holmes

Age: 24

Appearance:

(view spoiler)

Personality: Sherlock is, what some might call, a bit eccentric. She has an incredible eye for detail that will tell her every little thing about someone in under a second, but she sometimes doesn’t realize that what she’s saying hurts others or ridicules them. Sometimes she’s a little insensitive. She gets bored very easily. Sometimes she’s rude and inconsiderate. She’s extremely sarcastic and quite frank. She’s been called a (high-functioning) sociopath and psychopath before. Despite her irrational behavior, she's extremely intelligent.

History: Sherlock grew up overshadowed by her older sister by seven years. Monica was always smarter, more intelligent, more observant, better. Sherlock was often ridiculed by her older sister, and they didn't have the best of relationships. It got better once Monica left for university. She now works in the government, in an exceptionally high position for a woman of her age. Sherlock followed in her footsteps, but that didn't last too long. Everything they tried to teach her, she already knew or was not interested enough in. So she left. She found a flat and made a job for herself. Consulting detective. The only one in London, as well as the world.

Other:
~ She has a smoking habit that she's been trying to quit.

message 19: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Is the age ok?

message 20: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Sure! Unless you want to make them younger. Should Joanna be a couple of years older?

Also, we should do another AU roleplay

message 21: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) I was thinking they would be just out of college/university. Yeah, I think Watson was older.

Sure! Another Sherlock, or something else?

message 22: by Spooky Mulder (last edited Apr 10, 2014 05:30PM) (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Name: Joanna Watson

Age: 25

Appearance:
(view spoiler)

Personality:
Joanna is kind and practical person. She is incredibly loyal once she makes close friends, and would do nearly anything to help them out. She finds a cause and she serves it; it's simple as that. She is charismatic and personable, but you do not want to get on her bad side.

History
Joanna was always relatively normal including her family life. Until, her brother became and alcoholic at a relatively young age, but even that isn't extraordinary. She ended up joining the army as an army doctor, but left with a shoulder injury. She came back to London and began the struggle of getting back into normal life.

Other
She has a psychosomatic limp though she was shot in the left shoulder and had no injury to her leg.

message 23: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments I just made her a year older, I dunno.
Do you ship Johnlock?

Sure, unless you want to do Supernatural or something.

message 24: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Hell yes! Do you?

I'm on season 4 of Supernatural, but yeah, I'm up for that too.

I gtg, bye!

message 25: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Yes!!!

I think we should stick with Sherlock then just in case I say something stupid like a spoiler. I'm going to find some cool AUs we could do

Bye!

message 26: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Most of these are if they were college kids or something like just out of college, and they're just new ways of meeting or whatever. Otherwise they're obviously weird and different. I found these somewhere, but I can come up with more if you want.

message 27: by corina (last edited Apr 07, 2014 04:31PM) (new)

corina (molteneyes) Yeah, no spoilers please :3 I'm thoroughly addicted.

I like the mistaken identity and partners in crime AUs.

message 28: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Do you want me to make another topic where we can do one of those ideas, and then we can start the gender bend idea here?

message 29: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Yeah, sure!

message 30: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Okay, I made it. Would you like to start?

message 31: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments I've just realized that we probably need to come up with how to begin he rp to start

message 32: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Oh, and I finished the character sheet. And sure!

message 33: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) C. *Not Meg* wrote: "I've just realized that we probably need to come up with how to begin he rp to start"

Oh, yeah, probably :3

message 34: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments I have to eat dinner. I'll be back in a bit

message 35: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Ok!

message 36: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments I also did the character sheet, and I have no clue how the army works so I made it vague...

message 37: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Awesome, that's fine!

message 38: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Then how should this all start? How should they meet?

Similarly to the show?

message 39: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) We could start off similar to the show, and then merge into our own plot line for the case.

message 40: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Alright sounds good! Do you want to go first?

message 41: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) So sorry, been really busy. Yeah, I can start!

Biting back a sigh of annoyance, Sherlock slipped her phone back into her coat pocket and raised her hand to flag down a taxi. Almost immediately, one pulled away from the congested London traffic to stop by the curb. "St. Bart's," she said, closing the door behind her long legs. The phone buzzed in her pocket, but she disregarded it. She had already knew what it said. Mila simply didn't know when to drop a subject.

Shutting the cab door behind her, Sherlock strode up the stone steps, making her way to the labs in the basement without hassle. Most of the staff knew her quite well from her frequent visits. She situated herself in front of a microscope and pulled out the Ziploc bag.

message 42: by Spooky Mulder (last edited Apr 12, 2014 06:15PM) (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments (Sorry I took so long to respond. Also I can't quite remember how the beginning went... I don't know if Mila is supposed to be Mike (is that even that guy? I don't know) so I just did it)

Joanna limped through the park, relying quite heavily on her cane. She had a lot on her mind, particularly having to do with her recent trip to her therapist and how she could manage to afford to remain in London. She noticed an old friend sitting on the park bench, and not being in the mood to talk, tried to walk faster past her. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, Mila had noticed her and soon enough Jo found herself sitting on the park bench with a cup of coffee, talking to her about her living situation and need for a roommate and a more affordable apartment. To her surprise Mila mentioned knowing someone else who needed a flat mate. She offered to have them meet and then they were on their way.

Everything was happening quickly so they were soon at St. Bart's. She wondered what sort of a person they'd be and hoped for the best. Of course, they might have something in common if they worked in a hospital as she was an army doctor. She followed Mila into a room with one other lady siting at a microscope, stopping just inside of the door and leaning on her cane. She hesitated for a moment to greet her, "Hello."

message 43: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((No problem, I can work with whatever, and sorry it took me a while to respond as well, GR didn't save my post. Which was long. So now this one won't be as long since I can't remember it all. Grr.))

Sliding the dirt sample out of the bag and under the lens, Sherlock focused the microscope and peered forward. Just as she finally found focus, the door to the lab opened and two women walked in. Mila came in first and after her a woman with a blonde pixie cut. Obviously this was Sherlock's potential flatmate. He had been complaining to Mila about the lack of people willing to share a flat, and first the insistent buzzing in his pocket, now an actual person.

Barely sparing half a glance at the two, Sherlock held out her hand. "Phone." When neither made any move, she beckoned, more insistently, and repeated, "Phone, please."

message 44: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments ((I hate when that happens!))

Joanna was not particularly impressed with how the woman was acting as it wasn't particularly polite, but nonetheless she walked towards her while digging through her pocket to offer her her phone. "You can, uh, use my phone," she told her. She then placed her phone in her outstretched hand and took a step back. "What for?" She added, as she'd like to know. She probably should've asked before she handed it over. Leaning against her cane once more, she awaited an answer and the return of her phone. She watched the woman, deciding she wouldn't really mind sharing a flat with her, though Jo hoped she would warm up a bit.

message 45: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Shaking her curly black hair away from her face, Sherlock typed in a quick text to Monica explaining the results of the sample, before flipping it once in the air and handing it back to the woman. "Text. Thank you." Returning her attention to cleaning up the microscope, she said, "Flatmates should know a thing or two about each other; I hope you don't mind the violin, I play when I can't think, and don't worry about keeping the flat in order, Mr. Hudson is an excellent housekeeper." Her quick eyes scanned the woman once again, taking in Mila's blatant amusement at the meeting at the same time.

message 46: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments "You're welcome," Joanna replied with a nod, taking her phone back and checking who she texted for fraction of a second before returning it to her pocket. As she recognized they'd be leaving soon, probably, she shifted her weight back into her good leg, not leaning so heavily on her cane anymore. That's fine. Well, I'm Joanna Watson," she began to introduce herself, she had no clue what else she would have to tell the woman if they were to be flatmates.

message 47: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) "Yes..." Sherlock said quietly, half to herself, before looking up. "Served in the war, Afghanistan or Iraq? You've been having a hard time scraping by recently, haven't you, that's why you're looking for a flatmate; your therapist thinks your limp is psychosomatic, I'll bet, and she's right, you know. A wound in the arm doesn't result in needing a cane. You have a brother, Sam, yes, recently divorced or broke up with his girlfriend, drinking problem, and that's why the two of you aren't on speaking terms anymore." Sherlock finished and slipped her coat back on, scrutinizing Joanna and taking in Mila's outright grin at the same time. She raised her eyebrows inquisitively in an 'am I right?' fashion.

message 48: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Joanna raised her eyebrows incredulously at Sherlock. "Afghanistan... How did you-" she began to ask, pausing and looking at Mila as if to ask of she was part of this. But Mila shook her head. "How exactly did you find that out? How could you have possibly known all of that?" She asked, her voice giving away her surprise, confusion, and respect, or maybe it was wariness and skepticism. She shifted slightly uncomfortably, but maintained her impeccable posture, and awaited an answer.

message 49: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Pulling her navy scarf around her neck, Sherlock gave a small, cocky half smile. "Afghanistan, of course. Military haircut, your bearing, it's quite simple, really." It was always so simple, so obvious, but no else ever saw it. Deciding she liked this woman, Sherlock turned up the collar on her coat, pulled open the door and then paused. "The address is 221B Baker Street, and the name is Sherlock Holmes. Afternoon, ladies." And with a quick wink, she was gone, the lab door swinging shut behind her.

message 50: by Spooky Mulder (new)

Spooky Mulder (volocibum) | 458 comments Joanna shook her head slightly and watched Sherlock with respect and slight awe as she spoke. Well, this should be interesting, she thought as she left. She took mental note of the address, though she doubted she could forget it even if she tried. She stood there without moving for a moment, then she looked up at Mila. "Is she always like this?" she asked. Mila nodded.

((Sorry for not replying earlier, I was really busy with stuff for school. Should we skip to getting to the flat?))
