In the spirit of my favorite (plural) what's in your ear hole threads, and my many dead "what are you doing/eating/growing" threads I've attempted, I'd like to know and discuss what shows you're into these days.

I just discovered True Blood. I always knew I'd love it, but my one at a time Netflix mandate required that I finish gushing over The Wire before this. Next we'll be queuing Mad Men season two. Who needs cable when you have Netflix?

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I'm about 25% through season one of TB...there's a True Blood thread around here somewhere...

If you're ordering a lot of tv series discs through netflix you can almost buy the sets for the price of the rental, though...I got True Blood for, what, eighteen bucks?

"...there's a true blood thread around here somewhere..."

And Dave Russell writhes some more.

I'm embarrassed to admit there's a lot of shows I don't watch because I've never gotten around to them. Like Mad Men, although I think I will tune into Season 3 after discovering the loveliness that is Christina Hendricks...MMM.

Seriously, I could make a long-assed list of all the TV shows I've NEVER watched. Lost, 30 Rock, The Wire, True Blood, Heroes, Weeds just to name a few.

Ok....

What shows aren't you watching that everyone else is? Should that be the new thread title?

message 6: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 347 comments We just started on season 2 of The Wire last night, and I can already tell that I'm going to love it even more than season 1. Other than that, I'm basically a sucker for anything that HBO or Showtime decides to air- especially True Blood and Dexter- and watch a smattering of basic cable shows if we find ourselves incredibly bored.

Also, I got addicted to watching Burn Notice on hulu.com last year and can not stop. Bruce Campbell is as delightful as ever, Gabrielle Anwar just may be my favorite Irish assassin, and I am utterly in love with Jeffery Donovan. He's got the semi-snarkie off-the-cuff response down to a science. It's odd that he's not in many films, the only thing I remember him in is as the corrupt cop in The Changeling

Season 2 might just be my favorite, Logan.

message 8: by Hilary (last edited Jul 17, 2009 12:42PM) (new)

Hilary (renfrew) I'm not watching anything because, as a cost-cutting measure, I dropped cable service. Then my DVD-player went wonky....

....I suppose I could watch shows on the Internet?

message 9: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) I watch most of my shows online - the station's website or hulu.com. Loving Ace of Cakes and Cake Boss. Hooked on Season 2 - I Survived a Japanese Game Show! SQUEEE! I love those wacky games!!!

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I tend not to watch sitcoms or dramas, but I do watch stuff like Wipeout, So You Think You Can Dance and my favorite show, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations.

I'd watch stuff online, but that just seems silly to me. Like reading from a Kindle (or whatever you call that thing).

message 11: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Whoo! I think Burn Notice rocks, Logan.

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 347 comments Huzzah, RA! You're the only person I know who's even heard of the show, let alone watches it. It's a great little program, that's for sure.

Michelle (luvrdn) | 501 comments I am watching "Ghost Adventures" on the travel channel

message 14: by Félix (last edited Jul 17, 2009 07:16PM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yup, A, that's why. No, I'm kidding.

I used to yuck a bit at that show. But watching the reruns makes me feel like I am seriously wasting time that should be devoted to serious, meaningful activities (such as ... well ... this).

I too hated Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry David is a smug prick with too much money and time.

message 30: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Prick. Yup. Cheryl is hot, though.

I'm going to go ahead and beg to differ on that one.

Although I did enjoy her in Waitress.

message 32: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Fine. Have it your way.

message 33: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yikes. Now I'm writhing. That is, if it's OK with Sally that I do so.

Write away. That image is writeworthy.

Plus, it reminds me of where John Cusak worked in Better Off Dead.

message 36: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Google? Ask Google? Angabel I thought you drew that on cue.

message 37: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Did you do a google search for "creepy hamburger" or for "have it your way"? and if so, why?

message 38: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) "Have it your way."

And as for why... I have no idea. :P

message 39: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That's the right answer.

message 40: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) As per the thread...

I always watch television when there's an old-school Twilight Zone marathon.

Once, SciFi had TZ, and another channel had Alfred Hitchcock Presents, so my mom and I would go "seen it, change the channel" and go back and forth between the two.

message 41: by Angie (new)

Angie (angabel) Larry wrote: "Google? Ask Google? Angabel I thought you drew that on cue."

I drew it in 3 minutes, apparently. Damn I'm good. What would I have done if TC had not shown me my awesome ability?

message 42: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That's why we are here, child.

message 43: by Meen (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments I would have a hard time chosing a favorite season of "The Wire." I watched everything all in a row, so it kinda all ran together. The seasons that were heavy Omar rocked my world.

I've been watching "Star Trek: TNG" lately b/c I can't take all the videotapes Sherri sent me to New York, so I have to watch them all before I can pass them along. I love that show so much.

And "The Closer" is another of my favorites. I don't have full cable anymore, so this season I am having to watch it online, which I don't enjoy.

And the original "Law & Order" will always, always please me.

message 44: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Don't sitcoms date quickly? I was watching Seinfeld not long ago, on a lark, as it's on twenty-four hours a day on some cable channel or the other, and I remember the show as a lot funnier ten years ago. I also channel-surfed by a "Friends" episode, and my God, that was awful compared to my memory of it as "ok".

message 45: by Meen (new)

Meen (meendee) | 1733 comments I think you might be right. Much humor is so dependent on current events and cultural norms.
