message 2: by Tashy (new)

Tashy Jones | 51 comments Just keep at it and people will subscribe if they like what they see, I've been on since the 11th and have 8 subscribers, it's definitely a slow progress but don't lose hope

message 3: by Bookishrealm (new)

Bookishrealm It takes time! I've been at it for a while and I only have 204 subscribers. I'll go subscribe to yours!! Here's the link to mine:

message 6: by Meepelous (last edited Nov 30, 2015 01:23PM) (new)

Meepelous (literallygraphic) I've been doing this for almost 3 months now and still don't have too many subscribers, but I've gotten most of them from commenting on people's videos, shoutouts from people I've met since joining booktube, and making Top 5 and Friday Reads videos.

I also post all my videos to a facebook page for all my friends and family who don't really subscribe to things on youtube and @ message writers/artist/publishers on twitter when I review their comic books and graphic novels.

You can of course check out my channel at I'll definitly be checking out all of your channels and good luck!

message 7: by Joce (new)

Joce (squibblesreads) (thesquibbles) | 1 comments Hey, don't feel too bad about not having that many subscribers. A lot of bigger Booktubers have been posting consistently since 2010, and their first videos aren't the best quality. It's all about improvement, enjoying what you're doing, and making friends. I'll check out all of your channels! Here's mine:

message 8: by Bookishrealm (new)

Bookishrealm Yea this thread has been a great way to network and meet some new booktubers anyway!!!

Katarina (poleksya) (dancing_books) Hey :) I've started a channel a while ago, and gaining subscribers is a really slow process. But don't give up, keep making videos. I've learned that one of good ways to gain subscribers is to comment on other people's videos. Also try publishing videos on regular basis, something that I have trouble doing. Share your videos on facebook, twitter, instagram, whatever social media you use.
I've subscribed to your channel.
Here is my channel if you want to check it out, but don't feel obligated to subscribe. :)

message 10: by Zack (new)

Zack | 9 comments Gaining subscribers takes time, so don't worry too much. Also your quality in videos will get much better as you do more of them. I truly feel like my first few were awful, and my last couple have been much better and I feel much more comfortable in front of the camera.

I would suggest doing a booktube newbie tag, it will get a lot of other new booktubers looking at your channel.

Here's a link to my channel. You can see the difference in quality as I became more comfortable. I will be following everyone elses' channel that has posted in here as well :)

message 11: by Cherrie (new)

Cherrie | 114 comments I'd be more than happy to subscribe to anyone that subscribes to me I'm always looking for more Youtube friends so we can comment on each other videos and show support etc :)

dailyyydri (she|they) | 48 comments Remember to just keep posting and it'll all get better with practice! It may seem difficult at first, but you will get a routine going you'll like.
Remember, lighting is key.

message 14: by Emily (new)

Emily Kelly (scatteredemily) | 56 comments Just keep going for it. I only have 28 subscribers, but don't think about the numbers. Once you start thinking of the numbers, is when you won't enjoy doing it any more. My personal aim is 30 before christmas, but I tend to forget to check. But just make sure you are having fun and don't worry about subscriber counts.

My channel is:

message 16: by Desmondella (new)

Desmondella (treasuryoftomes) I would love to support everybody here! Feel free to subscribe to my channel and I will subscribe to yours back! I read mostly young adult fiction but I'm willing to try anything. Most of my reviews and content focuses on young adult books though. :)

message 17: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Hansen (betweenstories) Just don't look at the subscriber number :) I think you should do it for you and enjoy filming videos. Subscribers are hard to get and it is a slow process but if you keep going and don't give up I'm sure you'll get a lot of subscribers :)

I will check your channel out and subscribe. It's always nice to support each other in the beginning.

If you're interested here is mine:

message 18: by Nellie (new)

Nellie (imriela) Getting subs definitely is a slow process. But I find that BookTube is such a supportive community, and I love that!

I would love to make some fellow BookTuber friends too! Don't feel obligated. But I will be checking out everyone here.

message 19: by Denis (new)

Denis Barbov | 1 comments I love all the positivity around here. As a Booktuber, my goal is to meet like-minded people -- who love books and storytelling and think we could do a lot together.

Subscribe or comment and I will subscribe and comment back. :)

Summer (Summer winterr) (summerrwinterr) Message me if you would like to feature each other on our channels, I also subscribe to fellow starting out booktubers

message 22: by Alex (new)

Alex Horsey (eternallibrarian) | 17 comments The subscriptions number goes up very slowly. I just started out in November, and I've learned that subscribers are sometime hard to come by. You can gain subscribers within the booktubing community, which is one of the things that I love about doing this.

I've subscribed to you, and if you're interested, feel free to check out my channel here:

Michelle (michelleintheshelves) | 5 comments Thank you so much for this thread! I'm only posting the link to my general YouTube channel, I will subscribe to anyone who subscribes to me! Deal? ;)

message 24: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michelleintheshelves) | 5 comments I love the Kpop element to your channel, too!

message 25: by Cait ♡ (new)

Cait ♡ (mintedbooks) | 13 comments It is hard it gain subscribers that's why Youtube does recommend to share with family and friends to "get you going".
I am new to booktube as well. My channel - - I subscribe to anyone that subscribes to me (and has a public subscriptions setting as That is how I see who has subscribed to my channel) I'd love to meet other booktubers to get book recommendation and to share the knowledge about how to progress your channel.

Summer (Summer winterr) (summerrwinterr) Yo my name is Summer, I've had a booktube channel for a little bit over a year now and I'm still learning the ropes but I like to think I'm a fun and bubbly person and as soon as I'm on camera I go super crazy and energetic which is always amusing.
It would mean a lot to me if you guys could check out my channel and videos. I'd love to make some more booktube friends that I talk to regularly.

message 28: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarbys) | 1 comments Repeating my post from elsewhere, but I started about a month ago. I tend to read a mix of fun and heavier books -- what's trending, classics, old favourites, and book awards lists.

I remember subscribing to you a while ago. Lovely to find you here on Goodreads as well :) . In case you are interested you can find my channel here:

For everyone who is struggling with gaining subscribers, just remember that you're doing it because you thought it was fun in the first place. Don't lose sight of that if you don't gain lots of subscribers quickly.
