Johnny Jenkins it took me almost a year to get through this book. in the middle is where it started to get good

Freya It didn't take me that long to finish, but I really had problems to read it! I think it's a really great story and book, but the beginning was a bit boring though it really wasn't... it's weird :D

Ilana it took me a bit longer than usual to get through, but i think that i was just trying to get through a handful of chapters that were slower and refused to skim. i think that once you get through a lull in the mid point, things really get exciting.

Robin yes! exactly! I felt like I had to keep reading it because everyone said how great it was, and I kept expecting okay more will happen (which did eventually) but I am not in an omg rush to read the rest of the books. I will when I get to them at some point though.

aNneMarLi - Chatterbooks Book Blog So how was the book Ilana? Is it really good?I wanted to read the book too after I have gone through Hunger Games and Divergent Trilogy yet I have second thoughts. Thought it would have the same plot.

Kelly Brigid ♡ A year??? I took my 3 days! (which is actually really long for me, cause I'm a speedreader, but I was really busy). Either this or Hunger Games is my favorite dystopian young adult book ever! :)

No safety in numbers is good 2

Erica It was sooo goooddddd, until you get to the second and third book. I'll probably still re-read the first book but I'm going to pretend second and third one never happened lol!

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

were the second and third books not good?

Erica Maria wrote: "were the second and third books not good?"

In my opinion, it got worse and worse. Other people have warned me not to read it but I didn't listen.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, I'm almost done with the first one and it's amazing!

message 12: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma The beginning is defiantly slow, but the first time i read it i was a little overwhelmed with everything past the middle. I LOVED the second book, but I cannot in all my life find the next book anywhere! I just gave in tonight and got it on amazon.

Megan YES!!!! I took me like 3 weeks to read this book, I could not get into it, I spent like a week to finish the first chapter. It was disappointing because I had seen so many rave reviews, what kept me going was the suspense, the book was good not great but I cant wait to read the second one.

message 14: by Gjst (new) - rated it 1 star

Gjst I resent the author for the time i wasted reading that book is time I can never get back

Helen :D My thoughts exactly!! It took me a while to read the first few chapters of the book, but when Teresa finally woke up, things started to pick up and the second half of the book was just so awesome!

message 16: by Paige (new) - added it

Paige I read it in three days!

message 17: by judy (new) - rated it 5 stars

judy it took you a YEAR?!?! i read it in a couple of days!!!

message 18: by Lev (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lev I thought it was slow but I finished it in 2 weeks.

Lizzie Goldey I finished it in 2 days but I still thought it was slow though....

Kelly Brigid ♡ I think it was a little slow in the beginning, but it wasn't boring, if that makes any sense...

Lucia I couldn't put it down, but it's totally valid if it was slow for you. I think sometimes a book hits us at the right moment in our lives and sometimes it doesn't and it takes us longer to finish it. It's happened to me with some of my all time favorite books.

TMR reminded me a lot of Lost, a mix of Lost and the Hunger Games. it does have a lot of bad reviews. I try not to read them if I liked the book bc it kinda ruins it for me,a lot of them do make sense, so it's like "ohhh then it wasn't as good as I thought" lol.

I do think Teresa's character wasn't as exploited as it could have been.

Lucia Gjst wrote: "I resent the author for the time i wasted reading that book is time I can never get back"

Oh come on, there are worst books by fat that actually wasted our time... or tv shows?? :P

I feel that the resolution he gets from going through the changing was a little too fast forward, but other than that I agree with you.

Michelle Narvaez i didn't notice it was slow at all. Although I'm pretty patient with books and i read them quickly.I spend my time figuring out what the author's message is so the slow parts do kinda make sense to me.I really don't notice most of the time though.

Aj Yes it was slow but interesting and I could really excited lets say from where he first stays overnight in the maze but yeah It started out a little confusing in a sense and slow

Aj Johnny wrote: "it took me almost a year to get through this book. in the middle is where it started to get good"
Well it took me maybe about a week but yeah the middle to the end was where the book really got me excited

tumbleweedemoji I KNOW RIGHT! I'll probs never reread this book. Gah

She Who Reads Books I finished this book in a couple of days, at times I did find it a little slow, but I expect that from books which are the first in a series/trilog.

message 29: by Noo (new) - rated it 3 stars

Noo I read the first one in a day, and the second one took me about a month. I've yet to read the third one.

I found the first one an excellent story, but I'm afraid to say I didn't like may of the characters. And the slang words they used just didn't read naturally for me.

The second one started off interesting, but became tiresome quite quickly for me. I had to force myself to sit down and continue on with the story. Again, that was due the characters themselves, not the storyline. By the last quarter of the book I was back into it though, and I will be reading a couple of different books before finishing the series to try and keep enthused.

TL;DR Yes, it does feel slow, but it is interesting enough to stick with. Hopefully the film will be a little more fast-paced.

Benk36 Yes, I think that all the secrecy associated with the maze was spread gradually throughout the book, (to keep people reading), but I do agree with you in saying that it was quite slow in some areas, (predominately the first half).

i soooo feel you! I finished the book within a matter of days and when i finished it i begged and pleaded for more. I read the second book which was even more amazing than the first and i wanted even more. I read the third book, which was a bit confusing and a little slow, but i got through it. Now im just waiting and waiting and waiting on a chance to go get the fourth one. It's becoming a movie and i feel like im floating on air. Over all, the series was really good.

kelley did anyone else beside me want to beat themselves in the head with the books and throw them against the wall by the time they finished the series?????

message 33: by Todd (new) - rated it 4 stars

Todd i am in the middle of the 3rd book and i would be so happy if the main characters would just die painful horrific deaths. The first book was pretty descent but the second one made just think they were all idiots but the 3rd.... i must really hate myself for trying to finish it.

message 34: by Drew (new) - rated it 2 stars

Drew This discussion's title is exactly my thoughts!

Oh wow I feel like I shouldn't read the third book now

Kelly Brigid ♡ Aj wrote: "Todd wrote: "i am in the middle of the 3rd book and i would be so happy if the main characters would just die painful horrific deaths. The first book was pretty descent but the second one made jus..."

Keep in mind everyone has different opinions, so don't let one completely affect your decision. I can say that I liked it, but that shouldn't necessarily change your mind. I recommend you read it, so you can decide for yourself. :)

message 37: by Dany (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dany Lassard No, not at all! I kept passing the pages pretty quickly, and I liked the mystery and the questions unsolved, made me speculate and imagine myself what was going to happen.. I love that!

message 38: by Aj (new) - rated it 4 stars

Aj okay. ... :)

message 39: by Jose (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jose You are so right men, for me this book was slow, but is very good. I liked it, but I think it was because I wasn´t caught in thee trama until I almost finished it.

Mechila The boon wasn't slow to me at all. I couldn't stop myself from reading it.

message 41: by Tony (new) - rated it 4 stars

Tony Yang eh...

Kelly Brigid ♡ Eh...? xD

message 43: by Dawn (new) - rated it 2 stars

Dawn I guess that, for this genre, the book was a little slow, but it still only took me about two days to read it. The author created an interesting concept, but, for me, not nearly as good as other dystopian YA works I've read like The Hunger Games series, Divergent, The 5th Wave, or even any of the books in the Unwind trilogy.

Kirsty It took me ages to read the first 100 pages, but I pushed through and then it was OK
