Kristen | 1392 comments Tell us what you are reading for this challenge!

Read as many manga as you can that contain characters that dress as someone of the opposite gender or swap genders.

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) | 20 comments I'm such an epic newbie into manga in general, and Shoujo specifically (have literally only discovered it like a week ago, and have only three volumes read). Therefore, I can't currently contribute to this list, BUT HOLY CRAP-TASTIC I am so looking forward to seeing what titles others are going to post here :).

A.C. Harrah | 434 comments I've already read this, but if anyone is looking for manga to read for this challenge Tenshi Ja Nai!! (I'm No Angel), Vol. 1 is an option.

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) | 20 comments I've seen the anime of Ouran High School Host Club, and it was ADORABLE! Though, the ending did feel just a tad bit abrupt, but I'm still looking forward to reading the manga.

Thanks for posting that, A.C.! I personally prefer the idea of a female disguised as a male, but that's probably because that's more my favorite trope than anything. Am definitely gonna have to add this to my TBR!

Kristen | 1392 comments Challenges are a great way to get yourself started, if you haven't tried much manga. If you look at the poll we had for April's MR, you can get an idea of what to read. Each individual volume counts as an entry for the challenge and you set the goal yourself, so I think that you could do it, even if you are inexperienced!

A.C. Harrah | 434 comments No problem Jacqueline. If you prefer stories where the girl dresses as a boy there's also Girl Got Game, Book 1, Vampire Game, Volume 01 (admittedly, Ishtar and Duzell both crossdress), and Grand Guignol Orchestra, Vol. 1. There's more, but I can't think of them all right now; I'm still reeling over the fact that I have read so much manga with crossdressing and didn't realize it until now.

Fangirl Musings (fangirlmusings) | 20 comments Thanks so much for the recs, A.C.! I have Volume 1 of Girl Got Game and am definitely going to get to it ASAP! Though, as for Vampire Game and Grand Guignol Orchestra, I hadn't come across those and they DEFINITELY sound like all kinds of crazy-sauce fun cat-nip! :)

A.C. Harrah | 434 comments No problem, Jacqueline. Always happy to help. I may have nostalgia-glasses on, but I think Vampire Game is a really fun series with a nice balance of humor, romance, and plot (a little mystery too). Grand Guignol Orchestra was great too.

i liked it was very good!!

Jean (otakumom) I second Penny's suggestions of Hana no Kishi and Tokyo Crazy Paradise.

Tokyo Crazy Paradise is by the same mangaka who does Skip Beat. It's really different but again strong female character. I think it was during the time that hana to yume had a more darker tone than it does now.

Hana no Kishi is one of my absolute favorites. Two strong females - one the traditional female and one cross dressing by her side and they are a strong pair (no infighting crap either).

I literally JUST saw this comment from you, Krizten. (I'm an idiot, LOL.) Thanks for that bit of advice! I am definitely planning on taking part in some of the challenges! I'm a bit obsessive compulsive, though, and I like the concept of finishing/getting current with one series before starting another. At the moment I'm working my way through Vampire Knight, but after I'm caught up, I'm looking forward to playing along with the monthly challenge :).

I could be wrong, but the equation humor + romance + and plot HAS to be the definition of awesome, LOL. I'll definitely have to add that to my HOLY-EPIC-HELL growing pile of series recommendations, LOL!

Thanks for listing Love In The Mask, Penny! I read the synopsis of that on GR after your recommendation, and I'm definitely adding that one to my list! The overview sounds like all of my cat-nip! :)
