"You are going to use a Disney line against him?" Xavier asked, giving her a disapproving look before sighing "at least you're going to deck him" he muttered, chuckling slightly as he pictured it. "Ah, little miss goody two shoes" Xavier teased, pinching her cheek lightly with a smirk "tell Richard I say hi" he told her. Yes, Xavier was on a first name bases with the principal, his teachers just didn't appreciate his sense of humor, or at least that was what he told his parents when they lectured him. He glanced down at their intertwined hands for a moment, but didn't comment on Ellie's actions since from what he could tell, she hadn't even noticed she'd done it. Xavier scoffed and rolled his eyes as he followed behind her "you actually think I'm leaving you alone after that? You've lost your mind" he told her simply. "Plus, I can't even remember her name" he added absentmindedly.

17
"Honestly, I probably won't even waste my time. He isn't even worth it." Ellie replied with a simple shrug, her words somewhat mature for her typical, lighthearted persona. "I'm done dating for now, maybe all." She was completely serious, but could anyone honestly blame her? Jake had been her first, real boyfriend. It lasted three months, three months too long. "It isn't like I haven't been alone before, Xav." After dusting on some foundation to cover up the bruise on her cheek, she made her way down the steps and reached into their freezer, pulling an icepack out of the side pocket before settling herself on the edge of the counter. Ellie placed the ice pack over her eye, glancing at him for a moment. "You…don't even remember her name? Does it honestly occur to you that just maybe, she has feelings too? You know I love you, Xav, but honestly, one of these days a girl is going to come into your life and walk out and you're going to miss what you could have had- something real." Ellie kept the icepack on her face, before making her way to the couch to silently settle down, unsure why she'd just had a mini outburst like she had

--------
"That's why I'm saying just leave him to me, my record is already scarred, what's one more suspension for beating the punk up" Xavier said, not nearly as willing to let Jake off the hook as Ellie seemed to be. Nobody got away with hurting Ellie or Lyra, and Jake would learn that very, very soon. "I like that idea, very much. Just get some cats to make up for the lack of male company" he told her, not at all opposed to the idea of Ellie never dating again. After a moment though he let out a sigh "come on El, you can't let one guy ruin your life. As much as I hate to say it, there are good guys out there for you, you just have to be more careful who you trust" he said, trying to sound supportive and wise. He didn't want Ellie to give up on anything, even dating, because of some ass who hurt her, like she had said herself, he wasn't worth it. He followed her to the kitchen, leaning against the doorway as he watched her apply ice to her bruised eye. His lips instantly twisting into a frown at her words, he knew Ellie and Lyra didn't approve of his habits but they tended to avoid talking about it. It was rare for either of them to make such comments. "I'm not a monster Ellie, I know she has feelings" he grumbled as he followed her out, sitting down on the couch next to her. "Every girl I'm with knows it's nothing more than physical, I make it very clear. I can't help if they start having feelings that I just don't reciprocate" he said with a sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Can we please not talk about this? I really don't want to get into a fight with you right now" he said, giving her a slightly pleading look. He knew no matter what he said she would never approve or understand what he did and it would just lead to some sort of argument if the discussion continued. Sometimes he didn't even understand it himself, but it wasn't like he could force himself to feel things that just weren't there. He had never loved a girl in the romantic sense of the word, even going as far as saying he'd ever liked someone was a bit of a stretch.

18
"Hey, I'm not fighting with you on things. I never said you were a monster. I'm just saying - You've told me to never give up and to always be openminded. What if there was a girl, who was perfect for you? You can't tell me you've never thought about it before." Ellie sighed, running her hands through her long, dark locks. "I'm just saying, that maybe she's closer than you think and you're not giving it a chance." She raised her arms in a "what if" kind of gesture, before shaking her head. "But, you're not allowed to say anything about me giving up or anything on dating. I just got out of a relationship, and I'm not going to look for one." She waved him off for a moment, her piercing, bewitching blue gaze focused on him before she wrapped a thick blanket around herself and turned on a movie. It was quite odd for her to remain at the other end of the couch (Usually, she was curled up in a ball between Lyra and Xavier during movies), but for once, she just needed space. "Xav, you know I only say the things I say because I genuinely care about you. I don't want you to become one of those crazy welfare dads with seven kids and no job." As she spoke, a sincere little smile crept upon her lips as her bewitching gaze met his again.

-----
"Of course I've thought about it, but I can guarantee you none of the girls I've been with are that girl" Xavier told her, cringing at even the slight suggestion that one of those girls was the one for him. Yeah, no. He was not interested in slutty ditsy girls who survived on their good looks. "Closer than I think? Come on El, you know the only girls I spend time with are you and Lyra, obviously Lyra is out of the question and if I even tried making a move on you you'd decapitate me" he said with a slight chuckle. There was no denying that Ellie would not take his advances well if he tried, nor was he interested in doing such a thing, she was one of his best friends, they had been together since the diaper days, thinking off Ellie in such a way would just be weird, right? "That's fine, trust me, I will never push you into dating again" he said with a grimace "if I had my way, you and Lyra would wear chastity belts and go to an all girls school" he told her. He was certainly overprotective but when he was the way he was, he knew what guys were like and he didn't want his little sister or Ellie getting hurt by some jerk just like him. He scoffed at her comment "only seven? Puh-lease, there would be at least ten" he joked with a grin, glad to see her smiling. "Why are you sitting all the way over there?" he commented with his brow cocked, without even waiting for an answer he was tugging her over to her usual seat next to him. "Now I think someone needs to be punished for not listening to her much wiser friend" he said with a mischievous smile on his lips. "You remember the tickle monster, don't you Ellie?" he asked, a full on grin on his lips now.

17
"I didn't mean one of those girls. I'd personally decapitate myself if you even suggested interest. I wouldn't talk to you ever again." With her silly words, Ellie was quite serious. She meant every word she said -- although, she disliked the idea of him with just any girl. When he pulled her closer, she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable. It was just…weird without Lyra there. "What about Rosemarie? She's pretty, sweet, a cheerleader. I'm just trying to help you out, here." She raised her hands in surrender, a mocking little smirk on her lips. "You, much wiser? I doubt that." Ellie raised a brow at him, shaking her head. "You know it would never work between us in that way. We're nothing alike; I'm a long term commitment kind of gal, and you're a impulsive go-getter. It would last about three seconds between us before we'd be fighting. Plus, the thought of "us" as more than friends would just be weird…." Ellie slid under the heavy blanket, draping it over herself and him as she stretched out, resting her head in his lap. Maybe, the thought of them wouldn't be so weird at all…but, it just wouldn't work. She was sure of it.

-------
"Well glad to know how invested you are in my love life El" Xavier said with a chuckle "but don't worry, I have a type and those girls don't fit the bill" he assured her. He liked fun girls that could be serious and sophisticated, hot girls that could still be nerdy and play video games, athletic girls that could still be feminine and sweet girls that still had a back bone. Basically someone perfect, unfortunately such a person did not exist as far as he was aware. "Rosemarie? Oh please, she's psycho. Cole went out with her for like a week and she was already talking about marriage and children" he said with a grimace. He had yet to find a truly 'sweet' girl that didn't have something completely crazy about them. "I am wiser, thank you very much" Xavier shot back, poking his tongue out at her childishly. "Woah don't even go there" he said putting his hands up in surrender "I was not suggesting we go out, I was just making a point that the only females in my life are not possible options for future girlfriends" he told her, shaking his head at the mere thought of them together in such a way. That just wasn't them. "And don't make me sound like a total whore, I can do committed relationships, I just choose not to. If I find the right girl then I will happily give up my play boy ways" he told her "she just doesn't exist" he added as she laid her head in his lap. He glanced at the TV, grimacing at the sight of a sappy movie playing on the screen and turned his attention to her hair. He twirled some dark strands around his fingers as he gave her a fake hair mustache. Xavier could entertain himself with just about anything.

- - 14
"You know I'm only joking. Honestly, I don't care who you date or sleep with." Ellie gave a nonchalant shrug, glancing at the television. It was odd and out of character, but she really didn't care. At least, she had convinced herself she didn't. "You are not wiser, but older by three months. That is your only claim to wisdom." She replied with quite the sarcastic undertone, curling into herself under the covers. "I wasn't suggesting anything between us, I'm just saying that it would never work. Plus, no offense, but I'd never date you even if you weren't my best friend; you're not my type." Her words were quite blunt and harsh, although she didn't mean it in such a way as they came off. She had her phone to her face, her baby blue eyes widening at the flashing light in the dark room. Her eyes slowly shut for a moment, as she curled further into the blanket and yawned. It was quite adorable, actually; although she had stretched out slightly, her head remaining in his lap. "Do you think Ryder and Lyr have something going on? She talks about him incessantly and he does the same about her." She inquired, changing the subject.

-----
"Ouch, hurtful" Xavier said, faking a look of hurt. "What do you mean I'm not your type? What exactly is your type?" he asked her with a frown. Xavier didn't like hearing her say that, he wasn't sure why, he just didn't like it. He told himself it was because she hurt his ego, that he was used to having girls throw themselves at him so to have a girl say he wasn't her type, it was a blow, that was for sure. Or so he told himself. "I mean, if you weren't my friend I would probably hit on you, I mean you're not that hideous and your personality isn't atrocious. I guess" he mused. "I mean, I did have a crush on you when we were kids" he pointed out. He was almost positive she would be on his radar if they weren't as close as they were. He chuckled as she got comfortable, she always seemed to have to be curled up, even when they were kids, it was pretty cute, not that he'd ever say that. "Hmm? Ryder and Lyra?" he echoed with a frown on his lips "nope. My sister is not his type, she's too nice and shy and stuff and she isn't even hot" he said, shaking his head. "Ryder has girls throwing themselves at him at school, he wouldn't even give her a second glance" he grumbled, not wanting to even entertain such an idea. No way was his sister interested in Ryder, or vice versa. "He isn't her type either. She is more suited for a some poetic nerd from London" he muttered. Xavier and Ryder weren't enemies but they certainly weren't friends either, he trusted the guy to some extent, just not enough to be okay with him dating his little sister. "But he really talks about her a lot?" he asked skeptically "maybe he and I need to have a little chat" he muttered to himself. Once he made it clear Lyra was off limits, Ryder would give up on whatever silly little crush he had, just like every other male Xavier had to have a 'talk' with.

"My parents were druggies, and all around not good people. They'd shoot up and get high, all at once, and just leave me in my crib at night to cry. It would literally take me wailing as a little kid for them to take care of me. Then my grandma found out and she took me in, and raised me the best she could. At the time she was raising not only me and Braden, but her nieces and nephews as well. She was a stern, hardworking woman and I honestly don't think I would have made it this far if it wasn't for her guidance. Then, when she passed away, I was shipped to some random third cousins house and then split between my parents, the local social workers, and some other family members. Then I guess Aunt Allie found out about us being her technical cousins and took both me and Brae in. But, I was raised in poverty. I've always had to feel like I had to make something of myself, so I focused on my schooling, and thus, the reason I'm so awkward with girls," Ryder chuckled. "Shall we go over now...? I think Xavier's over there, though..."
"Channing Tatum is my type," She smiled innocently from beneath the covers, but then lifted her head slightly. "My type is someone who knows the little things count, who accepts that I have my own flaws, who....just, gives me that look. You know, when someone looks at you and they just have that...twinkle? I want to end up with an athletic guy who isnt afraid to watch Game of Thrones or Star Wars with me, because you know how much I love Star Wars. I don't know, I just want a nice guy -- He could be cute, but he doesn't have to be gorgeous as long as he likes me for me." She replied simply, shrugging her shoulders. "Not that you aren't any of those things, but...When you made yourself clear where we stood years ago, I left any feelings I could have developed in the past. Whatever could have been would have never lasted more than a few months and we both know that, anyway." Elle looked up at him innocently, then laid her head in his lap again. "I was head over heels for you, until I saw you holding hands with Ashlinn Conway, and that was the end of the fairytale." It was the truth; at five, she had herself convinced it was love, but things don't always turn out as planned. "Let it be, for once. He's harmless, I promise. He's a 4.0 student, and a virgin. Cut him some slack," She gave him a light punch to the stomach.

---
"Ashlinn? You're kidding me right? She was my friend and wanted me to walk her home!" Xavier said with a laugh. "My dad told me the best way to get a girl to like you was to make her jealous, I was six and had no clue what that even meant so he just said that whenever you were around to spend time with other girls. So that's what I did" he said with a shake of his head "my dad's an idiot" he grumbled. "I can't believe you gave up on me so quick, clearly you did not love me as much as you thought you did. I didn't get over you till I was ten, thank you very much. I was devoted" he said, pretending to shame her for her lack of dedication to him. "Now if you said it was after we kissed, I would understand, I mean it was my first and I'm sure it was atrocious enough to scare away any girl" he said, grimacing at the memory of his lack of skills. Ellie was his first and only crush, ever, she was also the only girl he didn't think had cooties, but back in those days he was nothing more than a perfectly innocent little kid who used to sit on his mom's lap and scheme with his sister on ways to get cookies. Everything was so different now. He was so consumed in his own thoughts he didn't even pay attention to what Ellie was saying till he felt a blow to his stomach "ouch" he groaned, doubling over slightly. Damn she could hit. It took him a moment to backtrack and even realize what she had said, causing him to roll his eyes "that doesn't mean anything, he could still be trying to corrupt my little sister" he grumbled to himself before quickly putting his hands up in surrender. "Fine, I wont threaten him out of liking Lyra" he conceded with a grimace "I still can't wrap my head around it. Lyra is not prime dating material for someone like him" he said as he went back to playing with her hair.

"Come on, I just texted Ellie. We're going over there and we're going to tell them once and for all." He took her hand and simply lead her out the door, leading her to his door next door.
"I was five, and extremely jealous. Cut me some slack." She flicked him lightly in the arm, shaking her head. "Actually, if we're being honest here I didn't really give up until I was a freshmen and you were a sophomore. I had it bad for you, and everyone seemed to know except you. It was terrible. I started wearing all this…makeup, and actually curling my hair (which, wasn't a bad thing) just so you would notice me. I even joined the soccer team to impress you, but it obviously didn't work." Ellie remained under the covers, her eyes closed. "Then, I walked in on you during that party with some redhead from Calvary high and I lost hope, so I quit trying." Ellie remained under the covers and silent for a few moments, wishing that she had retained some mystery to her feelings now. Although, if she was being honest it was going to come out at some point. Her phone buzzed and she glanced down at it from beneath the cover, clearly disinterested.
"He's had a rough life, but he really is a good guy. I'm serious; Your sister is gorgeous, sweet, and incredibly bright-- she just doesn't realize it, and he has." Ellie replied with a sweet, gentle tone as she yawned again, turning on her back to peer up at him. "Lyra's coming over. My bet is that she's going to tell us they're dating." Just as those words came out of her mouth, Ryder walked in the door with Lyra and flicked on a light, glaring at them. "Stay away from her, Xavier." He warned, forcefully placing himself between Ellie and Xavier. "We, we, we need to talk… It's about me, and Lyra." He said, quietly.

"Xavier, plea-" Lyra started, a pleading look on her face as she looked at her furious brother.
"Not a word Lyra!" Xavier snapped, not wanting to hear her defend Ryder or beg him to listen, he wanted nothing to do with the kid. To be honest, his anger was misplaced, he was furious a Ryder for telling him to stay away from Ellie, that was it. He just happened to be taking it out on Lyra as well. "You kept this a secret from me. What happened to telling each other everything? I'm your brother, you should have stayed away from him or at least told me!" he said, anger and disappointment clear in his voice. He and Lyra were extremely close compared to most siblings, so learning how she kept such a thing a secret from him only fueled the anger he felt. His gaze finally softened when he noticed Lyra's eyes glassing over with unshed tears. "I'm sorry" she choked out, and she really was, she didn't think keeping it from Xavier would make him so mad. Xavier clenched and unclenched his hands as he sighed "lets just go, we can talk about his later" he said, his voice calmer as he took his sister's hand and pulled her to the door with him. He knew he was being too hard on Lyra and he couldn't even look at Ellie, knowing she was probably furious with him for acting like that but, he couldn't help it, he had always had a short temper so the second he heard the words "stay away from her" directed at him in reference to a girl her cared about equally as much as he cared about his own sister, well his anger skyrocketed.

"Don't you walk in that door, Xavier. I'm not done with you." Ellie felt her temper flare as she slid in the door behind them. "Lyra, I'm not angry with you. I'm happy for you guys, but I wish you had just been honest." She hugged her best friend tightly, calming down ever so slightly. "Ryder's on the back porch, if you want to go and talk to him." She whispered in her ear with a small nudge, before turning her attention to Xavier. "Yes, Ryder was wrong, but you have no right to act that way. He's not a bad guy, and there isn't a reason in the world not to give him a chance. He's afraid of you, for pete's sake. Lyra thinks so highly of you, she was afraid what you would think! For pete's sake, Xavier, will you ever learn to control your temper?!" Ellie couldn't really speak on the matter, because her own temper was flaring at that moment. "You want to know the truth, why I gave up hope? Because we're toxic for each other. All we do is fight, and it wouldn't last." She growled slightly, "Plus, I've never been your perfect type, and you've made that quite clear. So maybe, we should just stay away from each other for a while."
Ryder sat on the back porch, running his hands through his hair. "Granny was right, I should have just stayed away from girls. Too much drama. Maybe, I should just stay away from everybody." He sighed. Trouble always seemed to follow him, wherever he went. It didn't matter what he did or said, it always seemed to follow him. Maybe, this budding romance he had wasn't meant to work out. Then, he got the text from Ellie and slowly found his way to his neighbor's porch, sitting on the swing. Good grief, even the swing was expensive. This was definitely going to take some getting used to. He waited for Lyra to come out and gestured for her to sit beside him, gently taking her hands. "I'm sorry I got angry with your brother, earlier, and I'm sorry you've had to hide this…us, for so long. But, I don't want to make you hide things anymore, I just want you to be happy; even if it means, not seeing each other again…" Ryder looked in the opposite direction, letting go of her hands quite promptly. "It isn't what I want, but if it makes you happy, then so be it… Whatever makes you happy, Lyra. That's all I could ever ask for." He looked at her sincerely, then took her hands again. "So, how are we going to handle this?"

Xavier froze mid step at the sound of Ellie's voice, he had been hoping too much to have her stay out of it, though the slap she gave Ryder right before he had hauled ass out of there had been nice to see. He was silent as Ellie and Lyra had their girl moment or whatever, waiting for Ellie to give him the lecture he knew she wanted to. "No reason? Come on El, he actually thought he had a right to tell me to stay away from you. Since when do we let other people tell us whether or not we should spend time together" he said, calmer now than before but still angry. "Afraid of me? Damn right he should be, any guy that goes near either of you and tries to tell me what I can and can't do had better be terrified of me" he said rolling his eyes as she continued her lecture. "If people didn't piss me off, my temper wouldn't be a problem" he grumbled under his breathe. He had been planning on tuning out the rest of her lecture, having no interest in hearing why he should give Ryder a chance, when she caught him completely off guard, turning the subject onto their relationship. "What the hell Ellie? We fight yeah but you're still my best friend, I love you as much as I love my own sister. We fight but it has never once changed the way we've felt about each other, no matter how bad it gets I will never care about you any less!" he fumed, not really sure why they were even having this conversation, but too angry to even care. "You say you tried to get my attention when we were younger but we both know you were just too scared to tell me how you felt! You're afraid of what will happen and wont even give it a chance!" he said, tired of hearing her say how they wouldn't work when she was just too scared to see what would happen. He didn't know what came over him, perhaps it was the adrenaline pumping through his veins, the anger clouding his judgement or his need to prove his point but next thing he knew, he was kissing her. It wasn't anything long, just a mere second long touch of the lips, but it was enough to shock him into reality. He wanted to apologize as soon as he pulled away from her, but being him, he just couldn't do that and instead said "see, nothing bad happened. But fine, you want me to stay away from you? I will. Lets see how long you can last without me in your life" and with that, he turned on his heels and headed inside his house, not even giving her a chance to respond as his mind still reeled over the fact that he had actually kissed her.
((FF like two weeks?))

It seemed like a normal school day for the most part, although no day the past two weeks had been normal due to the circumstances at hand. Ellie was dressed in her ballet attire, a sparkly piece of fabric wrapped around her waist and a thin hooded sweater wrapped around her bare shoulders. As she threw her bag in the back, she noticed one of her tires had went flat, and she had no idea how to fix it. She texted Ryder, but had no reply. So without a word, she sat on the hood of her car, scrolling through the phone numbers within her device to find someone, anyone to call.
For Ryder, the past two weeks had been quite the opposite of Ellie. In fact, they had been two of the best weeks of his life, mostly attributed to the beautiful girl who lived next door. Since that night, things had been better than ever between them. Tonight, he was going to surprise her with a moonlit walk and a picnic on the local lake, although it was a surprise at the moment. Not even Ellie knew about it, let alone Xavier. Also, he’d made a point to stay away from Xavier in order to keep the peace. It was obvious neither of them liked each other, and he honestly didn’t like the way that Ellie was responding since whatever had gone down between them. That was what made him upset.
After a long, boring day of classes Ryder had picked up Lyra and was currently strewn across his aunt and uncle’s couch, Lyra within his arms. “Is Ellie okay? Have you talked to her? Do you know what happened? Why did she quit soccer, and why isn’t she talking to your brother?” He began firing questions, his fingers tangled in her hair. “Eh, they’ll work it out. If not, oh well. Hey, by the way, be ready to go here in a little while. I’ve got a surprise for you, but it won’t be ready until tonight. Do you think that your parents will let you join me?” he questioned as he placed a kiss on her forehead, twirling her hair within his fingers.

Just as he took his keys out he noticed a very familiar car and paused to check the license plate. He recognized it immediately, confirming his suspicions: it was Ellie's. He considered hanging around and waiting for her but quickly tossed that idea aside and was about to continue on his way when he caught movement out of the corner of his eye. It was her. He just stood there for a moment, this was the longest he'd seen her in the past two weeks and it took him several moments to realize why she wasn't getting in her car to drive home. She had a flat and as smart as the girl was, she didn't know how to change it. He let out as a sigh as he weighed his options: leave her there and let her figure it out on her own or fix it for her. It only took a second before he was heading towards her, he couldn't very well leave her there. "You would think you would know how to fix one of these by now" he said as he came up behind her. "Pop the trunk" he ordered, trying to keep his voice as neutral and monotone as possible. He would just fix it and leave, there was no need for any extra chit chat, right?
Lyra was happy. Quite the opposite of her brother, though it was hard to be completely happy when her best friend and her brother were bother miserable. She was trying to stay out of it, it was their problem, they could fix it and talk it out when they were ready, but their gloomy attitudes were driving her crazy. Why was it when she was finally really happy the people around her decided it was time to be depressed? She almost felt guilty for being so happy while they were so...well, unhappy. She tried not to dwell on it though and just enjoyed her time with Ryder, he was such a sweet heart and treated her like a princess, just the thought of him made her smile. If only her brother would see and accept that, but alas he and Ryder were still at odds, basically avoiding each other all together, not that Xavier did much but wallow in his own self-pity anyway.
Lyra laughed at all Ryder's questions "slow down, I can only answer one question at a time" she said with a smile. "Ellie is fine, I think, from what I can tell, she just misses Xavier and vice versa. She hasn't told me much of anything on the matter so all I know is that they aren't talking and she quit to avoid Xavier. That's all I know" she told him, not really knowing much at all. It was hard not to laugh when he went from being so interested in what was happening with Ellie and Xavier to not caring at all but his mention of going out later grabbed her attention. "A surprise?" she echoed with a smile "my parents wont mind, my mother loves you and my dad tolerates you so it wont be a problem" she told him as she rested her head on his shoulder.

---
"Slow down? You know I expect more of you, young grasshopper. I guess I'll have to teach you my attention deficit ways." He said, quite teasingly. Ryder had such a habit formed, due to his ADD. Sometimes he could control his impulses quite well, but with other times he struggled. It was just kind of par for the course with him. "Your dad tolerates me? Honestly, of all the girls that I have dated, which, keep in mind is around four or five, none of their fathers ever just "tolerated" me. Your parents must be pretty special, or maybe you are." He winked at her mischievously, then glanced around the room. "Or I'm doing an amazing job keeping my good guy act up." He winked. "I'm going to go, uh, prepare for the surprise now, so I'll see you in a little while, ok?" He kissed her forehead then left.
A few hours later. . .
Ryder showed up in a button down and nice jeans, his hair fixed quite nicely. He pulled up on his motorcycle, knocking quietly on the door. It was a little cliche, a moonlight walk and picnic and all, but he really thought things out and hoped she'd enjoy it.

"I'm daddy's girl, whatever makes me happy, he can tolerate" Lyra said with a smile, knowing that the only reason her father even so much as tolerated Xavier was because she had pulled the puppy eyes, her mother had talked with him and Aunt Allie and Uncle Damon put in a good word for him. She laughed at his good guy comment "oh please, we both know you're all good. You wouldn't hurt a fly" she said with a shake of her "you lost a lot of your appeal after I found out you really weren't a bad boy" she said with a fake pout on her lips. It had been a surprise to learn he was nothing like his image made him out to be, but he didn't lose his appeal to her, she liked sweet guys. When he said he had to go she said a quick goodbye before heading off to get ready.
By the time her mother was calling her down stairs, saying Ryder had arrived, Lyra was dressed in simple, yet cute, strapless, floral black dress. She made sure it would be loose enough so she could straddle his bike without a problem as well as that it was long enough so she could sit on it, effectively avoiding flashing anyone. She checked herself one final time in the mirror. Her hair was curled nicely, adding just a bit more wave and curl to her naturally wavy hair, and she had minimal make up on, her lips merely painted a shade of light, glossy pink. Once she was satisfied she slipped on a pair of black heeled boots and headed downstairs where she said goodbye to her parents and met Ryder at the door. "Hey" she said with her usual sweet smile "you look very handsome" she commented as she stepped out and closed the door behind her. "Shall we go?"

"You look beautiful," He exclaimed as her mother opened the door, his gaze trailing over her for a simple moment, in the most respectable of ways. "Alright, when we get there I'm going to blindfold you," He explained, "But I promise there isn't anything completely sketchy or even remotely dangerous. You know the deal." He placed a kiss on her cheek, bringing her out to his bike. Resting on the seat was a simple helmet, and a few red roses beneath it. Once they were settled, he drove off to the location and slowly parked his bike, getting off. "Alright, I need you to trust me, okay? Cover your eyes." He ordered, then placed his hands on her shoulders and began leading her down a path. As they finally reached their destination, he smiled a little and removed her hands from her eyes. "Alright, Lyr, open your eyes. I-I hope it's alright…" He looked at her, innocently.

"Thank you" Lyra said as she followed him out to his bike smiling at the sight of the roses. He was just too sweet. "Alright, I trust you" she told him, not at all worried about where he was taking her. Once she was on the bike she wrapped her arms around his waist and held on tightly as he drove them to their destination. She followed his instructions, snapping her eyes shut and covering them with her hands as he lead her. She was excited to see what he had planned, though she honestly would have been just as happy sitting on the couch with a rented movie, to her as long as she was with someone she cared about, it was perfect. She was giddy with anticipation by the time he removed her hands and gave her the okay to open her eyes. Once her eyes landed on what he had set up for them a bright smile formed on her lips "I love it Ryder, it's perfect" she told him, leaning up on her tip toes to kiss his cheek, her smile never fading. She had never had a guy do anything so romantic and sweet for her and she really was touched. Could he get any more perfect?

Ryder let out a heavy sigh of relief, the tension in his shoulders seemingly beginning to disappear. Although he knew she wasn't one of those prissy, high maintenance girls like the girls they went to school with, he just wanted things to be perfect. It was just how he was, which surprised most. Smoothing his hair back slightly, he grinned down at her as he shoved his motorcycle keys into his pocket. He took her by the hand and led her to the simple little picnic scene, grinning sheepishly. "I had to bum off of Aunt Allie and Uncle Damon's chef, because I'm not the best cook…But, I'm hoping you'll like it. It really isn't much, but I wanted to do something special, because you're special to me." Gosh, could he sound more cliche? Ryder helped her sit down in a gentlemanly manner, then sat down himself and set out the contents of the picnic basket. The moon shined down upon the small pond just over the hill they were settled on, creating a lovely reflection. The whole scene was comparable to a painting; perfect, and surreal. "I was thinking we could take a walk, afterwards?" He offered, hopefully.

Lyra blushed slightly when he called her special "you're special to me too" she told him honestly as she got situated on the picnic blanket. She watched him as he laid out all the food "it looks great and this really is perfect Ryder. It's the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me" she assured him, not wanting him to think of it as anything less than what it was: perfect. She shifted her hazel eyes off of him to take in their surroundings, it really was breathtaking "it's so beautiful out here" she murmured as she looked at the moon's reflection in the pond. She didn't think such perfection was real, to her such settings only existed in novels and movies, it really felt like they had stepped into the pages of a book. "I would love to" Lyra said, flicking her gaze back onto him.
((Sorry it's a bit short, I'm on my phone))

((Since Lyder (Lyra-Ryder shipped) is already so sweet and everything, what if we shake it up with some kind of drama? Nothing super serious, but, something that causes them to kind of back off a little?))

((I was thinking of that too, I can just never let my characters be happy for long xD Hmmm well did you have anything in mind?
I remember a while ago we mentioned bringing one of Ryder's ex's in. Maybe she's someone basically the complete opposite of Lyra and while she seems all nice and stuff around Ryder she is actually a

She came in like a wrecking ball, literally. 5'9, beautiful blonde hair, and startlingly green eyes found their way onto Ryder Lynn's familiar couch. Yes, Erin was his ex, but couldn't they be friends? Maybe Ryder was just a little too naive and trusting. With Lyra at his side after a long day of torturous drama and forced education, Ryder was quite thankful to come home. Plus, he got to spend time with his girl. Ah, his girl-- could life get any better? "So, did you decide what movie you want to see Friday--" Ryder was quickly cut off in shock as he opened the door and walked inside, shocked to see his ex girlfriend sitting on the couch in his newfound living room. "Ry-Ry!" She squealed, her heeled shoes clicking on the floor as she ran over to greet him, "Oh my goodness, how long has it been? Three years? Your aunt or mom or whomever just let me in. I moved in down the street and I couldn't wait to see you!!"

Things were perfect, the only thing that could make life any better to Lyra was Ellie and Xavier fixing their issues, but that would happen in time, they couldn't stay apart for long. Things with Ryder were amazing, he was the main reason for life seeming so much better than usual, Lyra was always a rather cheerful, optimistic person but before Ryder life had been rather lackluster, his presence seemed to just make everything seem...better. She happily walked with him up to the front door of his and Ellie's place, about to tell him about the new Pixar movie she really wanted to see when she heard a feminine squeal. Ry-Ry? Who was that? it took a moment for Lyra to realize the beautiful blonde in front of her was talking to Ryder. Lyra gave the girl a quick once over and almost immediately felt the confidence she had gained over the past few weeks drop a little. The girl in front of her had stunning blonde hair while Lyra's was just a boring old brown, she even had gorgeous green eyes that made Lyra's look like muddy swamp water. She was not one to feel insecure and normally she wouldn't have cared one bit but, it was hard to be so confident after learning such a beautiful girl was friends with her boyfriend, still though, Lyra didn't feel an ounce of jealousy and smile politely at the girl, she did take a slight step back though, giving Ryder and his old friend some space.
((Glad you like it :D And it was perfect, loved the wrecking ball comment xD))

Erin giggled as she threw herself at Ryder, who didn't seem as enthralled as she was. She leaned in to kiss him and he quickly pulled away, throwing his arms around Lyra. "This is my girlfriend, Lyra. Lyr, this is my, er, old friend, Erin." Erin smiled quite fakely as she giggled, "And ex girlfriend. You know we dated for two years, and it was the best two years of our lives," Erin said, grinning. Ryder shook his head, "It was alright for the time. But we were only fourteen or fifteen. Things were very different back then," He replied, then heard his aunt calling. "I'll talk to you all in a few minutes, I've got to run upstairs." He said and placed an affectionate kiss on Lyra's cheek. Erin looked around before scowling at Lyra, "So how long have you been sleeping with him? He obviously didn't stay with you because of your personality or looks." Erin smirked at her, looking extremely confident and sexy. "Either way, don't get to comfortable. I want him back, and I will have him no matter what. You don't stand a chance."

---
Lyra puled her lower lip between her teeth, biting it lightly as she wrung her hands together, both signs of her being nervous and uncomfortable. She wasn't a fan of how the girl hugged Ryder and tried to kiss him, but perhaps that's just what their friendship was like? She felt better when Ryder wrapped an arm around her, but the comfort was short lived when the other girl turned her attention onto her. "Um, hi, it's nice to meet you" she said, with a slight smile on her lips. She kept her smile in place as the other girl, Erin, mentioned being his ex even though dread was already filling her stomach. She gave Ryder a smile as he ran off, her eyes darting around nervously as she was left alone with the other girl. It wasn't till Erin spoke again did she make eye contact "e-excuse me?" she stuttered out, her brows furrowed as she frowned in confusion, she didn't even get a chance to respond when Erin made her claim. She wanted Ryder and Lyra couldn't even argue with her because she agreed with her, she didn't stand a chance. She felt her eyes prickling as she looked away but she refused to let herself cry, not in front of her, she refused to be a pathetic cry baby. "Uh, tell Ryder I had some stuff I needed to do and I'll see him later" she mumbled out softly as she turned on her heel and dashed out the door. She was a coward. She knew she was being ridiculous, that she should have been more confident like Ellie and put that girl in her place, but she couldn't. She couldn't even call her unbecoming names in her head because it just wasn't who she was, Erin may have been a bee with an itch, but Lyra would never be able to think it, let alone say it to her face. She rushed back to her house before running to her room, picking up her phone to call someone, only to realize she had no one to call. Xavier would just beat up Ryder, Ellie would tell Ryder and Lyra didn't want that and all her other friends already wanted her to break up with him, so they would be no help. Finally she made a call to one of the only true friends other than Ellie she could talk to, she had known him almost as long as Ellie, they didn't spend much time together though because Ellie really didn't like him for some reason and he went to a different school.

"He's mine first. So I can use the line from Frozen, where Anna was like, "The only frozen heart around here is yours" then she decks him. Although Daddy won't be too happy if I get detention because of that, but I think he'll understand." She replied, lacing her fingertips through his for a brief moment, a little excited about being able to spend some normal, alone time with him. Should she have been excited? Maybe she shouldn't have. "Xav, I'm a big girl. I can take care of my own black eye. I appreciate you coming to pick me up, but go be with her." She let go of his hand rather sweetly, heading upstairs towards the bathroom. "I promise I'll be fine."
