Thanks. Love this challenge. Took me a couple of days to figure out new books I could use out of my TBR list. I had already chosen based on last year's list. I only had to add a couple of new books to my list after some resorting.
My short story selection might be controversial but this is my reasoning. According to wikipedia "The book is structured as a series of loosely connected vignettes. Burroughs stated that the chapters are intended to be read in any order"
Nice to have a working list for this. I have one as well. As usual, you have a number of my favorites and a number that I have never heard of. I'll be excited to see how you like them all.
I have completed my tentative list. With the exception of "Naked Lunch" they should all be non-controversial(in every sense of the word since the book itself is rather controversial).
I have finally completed my first Bingo of the year.G1: Published in the 1600's The Pilgrim's Progress 7/21/16 ****
G2: Book from Le Monde’s 100 Books of the Century Lord Jim 2/26/16 ***
G3: Classic Non-fiction Schindler's List 4/18/16 ****
G4: Classic from School A Farewell to Arms 2/11/16 ****

Yea, Janet! Congratulations on finishing. That is a great accomplishment. I checked out your list and you have several with 4 or 5 stars. I am impressed that you gave Absalom, Absalom! 5 stars as I really struggled with it. I have Cry, the Beloved Country on my TBR, so I look forward to reading it. Well done on your blackout.

I did it with The Sound and the Fury as well(that one was even more difficult so I read a section, read Sparknotes and reread the section). It really does enhance my appreciation of these books.
Janet, I tried "The Sound and the Fury" and ended up CNFing it.
Perhaps I'll try reading it again and follow your strategy of consulting sparknotes.
I felt bad about giving up on that particular book.
I read The Sound and the Fury in an American Lit class in college, and I remember very little about it. I have it in a personal 20th century classic challenge so I may have to use your strategy when I tackle it again.
