I can read 100 pages in 20-3o minutes or even 10 only if I don't get disturbed.
depends on whether it's Les Miserables or Where the Wild Things Are because books that require thought take longer than books with simple concepts so it would take me a week to read Les Miserables and a month to read Where the Wild Things Are.
For me it depends on the type of the book. Books with more than 200 pages can take me 4 weeks to read or more. I have two small kids and it's hard to read something when they play. So everyday I try to read more then 100 phrases.

I can read an 1000 page book in about an hour.

Shouldn't the question rather be: how fast can you read and still comprehend what is being read? What is the point of reading fast if you do not remember what has been read afterwards?

I totally agree! And this test is not only about speed, it's also testing your comprehension...
And actually it really depends on the context, the book, your mood, etc.
The most important for me is to enjoy the book.

Exactly! If reading is a competition without comprehension, what's the use? And yes, there is a difference between reading Virginia Woolf and Kafka to reading JK Rowling and Stephen King.

I can read really quickly and still understand. I read 500 pages yesterday after school.

428 wpm was my speed. meh. And yes, it tests your comprehension at the end to make sure you "passed" without just skimming.

If no one disturbs me then I can finish a 700 page book in about a day and a half... however that does account for school and meals(food is important)... that's a good average, give or take depending on complexity.

I read Eldest by Christopher Paolini in an afternoon. It was a weekend and I had no breaks for food etc though.
Thanks Martin - took the test. 395 words per minute. I had to read one sentence twice as it didn't make sense and then got 2/3 questions correct so I was paying attention!Depends what mood I'm in when I read and also the type of book. I have read books in one day (obviously with breaks in between) if they really pull me in and others take longer. But working a full time job and also being a debut author has messed up my reading times ... pretty much just read a couple of chapters a night or more if I find the time on the weekend :)

Hmmm...I can read about 600 pages in a day, if the book is good, I can read even faster.
I read probably between 200-600 per day depending on what I'm reading and what I have going on that day in terms of life.
I can read several hundred in one day depending on the book. It also depends on if I'm working or have the day off!
My reading pace in English is around 400 wpm, although naturally all depends on what book you're reading. Reading Harry Potter takes far less time than reading War and Peace for example. In my native language, my reading speed is 500 wpm.
my husband can read a book in an evening..I've no idea how he does it!.. I normally take around 3-7 days for myself.
It takes me about an hour to read 50 pages.

Oh boy I love talking about my reading speed! It depends on how invested I am in a book, like I finished a certain 400-page book in literally a day. Then again I was also sick and had to make several bathroom trips which hindered my speed.
Normally I can read about 100-200 pages in about twenty-thirty minutes, tops. I've had days where if I do nothing but read I can finish about two or three books that day.
I honestly have no idea how I do it.
Some days I don't read at all, some days I read 3 or 4 books. It depends on the story, on my mood, on what's going on around me. I can manage a week without reading, probably, but then I have to binge. And food and life as most of the people know it are just not that important. But I have been told that I live more in books than in the real world. So I have to work on beeing in the real world and not just in the books. And I also have to work to live and buy books
With the time I've learned to take a picture of the words I see on the paper or on the screen in search of the tag words which give the visual sense to the whole paragraph. This helps me in increasing the speeed of reading ...

I do when reading difficult material or a language I am new to. I think it helps me process, mostly because I can't imagine doing otherwise. Does it work for you, reading difficult material without subvocalizing?

I don't know. I see fast readers all the time but I can't help wondering if it's like wolfing down good food.
I now hardly read but only listen to Audio books. Hence, there is very little I can do about reading speed!
