In Riordan's second book of the series, The Sea of Monsters, he introduces a ton of new characters and also a whole new level of action. My favorite new character is Percy's half-brother, Tyson, who is also the son of Poseidon. Tyson is an 8 year old hilarious cyclops! Right off the bat, there's action. Most of the main events in the story are linked to Percy's dreams. He has all of these dreams of his friends in danger, which actually come true. Most of the dreams were drastic, but they did happen. The main conflict in the book is when the force-field, that protects Camp Half-Blood, becomes penetrable due to the poisoning of Thalia's tree. This tree is key to the protection of camp half-blood. Ever since it was mysteriously attacked, monsters have been granted access into the camp. In order to heal the tree and rebuild the force-field, the golden fleece is required. It took a lot of effort to find the fleece for Percy. This book is filled with adventure, comedy and suspense. It's easily one of my favorite books I have read so far.
