"But better to get hurt by the truth than comforted with a lie."

Do you think this applies to all situations? Why or why not?

I think that it would be almost instinctive to say yes to this question. We'd like to claim that it's the truth that matters, whatever that truth is. But sometimes, we also would like to spare ourselves from some painful truths. We'd rather live ignorant of it, comforted by the feeling of not-knowing.
This also applies to Amir's situation. When he found out the truth about his blood connection to Hassan, he was indignant of being lied to, claiming that he and Hassan had a right to know. Do you really think that knowing would have made him happier? Or do you think that he would have felt more resentful towards Hassan or Baba?
