this sounds like a good read. I shall put it on my 'to read' list.

Yikes, I forgot to add my new release here, but it did only officially launch in late May so, hopefully, I'm not too late.
A Promise to Keep is book 2 in the Out of Time series but I added a brief intro so you can enjoy it without having read book 1.
In 2006, Marion, visiting an ancient ruin, was transported back to 1191 where she gave a promise to Sir Giles de Soutenay. Six years later, in hospital and unable to keep her promise, she enlists the help of her daughter, Shannon. Shannon doesn't have to go back in time, only place a device in the roots of the ancient beech tree that acts as the portal between the two worlds. But Shannon is angry and humiliated by the man she thought was the love of her life. She wants to get away from everything and where better to go than back in time?
Hildegarde, Abbess of Sparnstow in 1197, is expecting a visit from Giles de Soutenay. She is not expecting a visitor from the 21st century. And Shannon will find the past can be more dangerous than the present.
You'll find humour, romance and danger. And through it all, Hildegarde tries to keep her faith and her serenity.

Even if they do eventually overcome their differences and learn to work together, they must work alongside with other warriors and shamans of the Circle, who each have their own magical abilities to deal with, as well as certain priorities and concepts. If that wasn’t enough, evil itself has its own agenda that they must face and overcome if they wish to triumph in the many wars to follow. Very excited to release 'The Stolen Child' which used to be known as 'Beautiful Child' and has now been re-edited, and with a different cover and title. It's set against the background of the forced migration of children from the UK to Australia back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, and follows the trials and tribulations of one young boy and then becomes a murder mystery. The story takes place in both the UK and Australia and I'd be happy to receive your reviews.

'A Master Storyteller.' - Jaime Polychrones. Book Expo America 2017.
The Aduramis Chronicles: The Definitive Collection charts the adventures of Coinin and Marrok Wulf as found in the following three books and bound into one volume. (1650 paperback pages)
The trilogy returns to classic fantasy adventures and values, with modern language, this is a fast-moving coming-of-age saga featuring a strong cast of diverse characters, brilliant set-pieces and a powerful character and plot driven story.
Book 1 - Destiny of The Wulf
In the eternal battle between dark magic and light, brothers Coinin and Marrok Wulf are called by an ancient Brotherhood to fulfil a great prophecy that will tip the fate of their world forever.
At play are the greatest forces of darkness in the universe: Death himself and dark wizard, Lordich Secracar, who will stop at nothing to thwart the brothers’ journey and pull Er’ath, their beloved home world, into the void.
To head off Death’s ultimate plans to rule the gods and bring chaos to the heavens, the two brothers must follow their destiny to unite the five sacred Swords of Cerathil, in the Tower of Elyia, as the ancient seer, Aduramis foretold.
In their path lie untold enemies and unspoken treachery. Torn between the powers that be and their call to fate, Coinin and Marrok must overcome all that stands in their way, or let their precious world fall into ruin …
Journey now into the brave new world of The Aduramis Chronicles, a coming-of-age fantasy series that is as diverse as it is dense--combining all of the classical elements of the fantasy adventures you love with the plot-driven, multi-faceted character dramas of the modern age.
Take off with Book One, Destiny of The Wulf, into a world unlike any other, as the ticking hand of fate moves ever closer towards destruction ...
Book 2 - Underworld
Blown off the course of their heroic destiny, the Wulf brothers find themselves at the mercy of fate in more ways than one …
Separated, stranded, and deterred from their course, Coinin and Marrok must fight against all odds to reunite and resume the course set before them.
With Marrok kidnapped, Coinin Wulf, Curator of the Temple of Rindor, feels duty-bound to locate his brother, rescue him, and resume their journey to save Er’ath.
Confident his brothers’ violent capture was ordered at the behest of the dark wizard, Lordich Secracar, Coinin and his companions fall headlong into a series of events that will lead them to the depths of the Underworld and face-to-face with death itself.
Return now to Er’ath and The Aduramis Chronicles at the turning of the tides, when Coinin is given an offer he cannot refuse and finds himself at a vantage point over his oldest enemy.
Continue the brothers’ epic journey into the pits of hell and beyond as they are tested like never before in a race against time.
Find out what fate has in store in Book Two, Underworld.
Book 3 - The New World
Caught between duty and destiny, the fate of the world hangs on a precarious choice that could lead to the ultimate failure of the Brothers Wulf--or save them all.
Coinin Wulf, Curator of the Temple of Rindor, is offered a bargain that may seal his fate. His task--return Prince Riley, the rightful ruler of the City of Rodine, to the throne, and in exchange learn the whereabouts of his most hated enemy: Lordich Secracar, the dark wizard.
This incredible shift in the war against the darkness that threatens to engulf them all could give the Brothers Wulf the upper hand in uniting the Swords and Cerathil and saving Er’ath, though it all comes at an incredible price.
To return the rightful heir to the throne in the City of Rodine, the brothers must abduct and displace the current ruler, King Jarek, and condemn him to a torturous existence in the eternal prison of Underworld.
Can Coinin, Marrok, and the Brotherhood succeed? Or is abducting a king just too tall an order?

When a lot younger I read the Canterbury Tales. The idea of a journey as a frame during which people tell stories to while away their time always struck me as something I should like to try.
In a similar way the Decameron has people in a particular situation telling each other stories to smooth away their hours.
To tell the bare tale of a group of people going up the 270 mile length of the Pennine Way is something that is of limited appeal for a reading audience, but if the walk were used as a frame then it might be possible to appeal to a larger group of readers.
My walkers meet in the first two chapters during which the scene and situation are set; then they tell each other tales on a theme.
Each story has to relate to some kind of turning point in their own lives; a moment or experience that made a difference to them. The situations could be strange and weird or everyday and prosaic; this last because it is often the mundane that changes the course of our lives.
The stories had to range wide and each show a slice of life and situations that would lend a varied interest to a disparate group of people and hold their attention for 30-45 minutes in a pub after a day of hard walking.
I also hoped to capture the essence of a group walking on the path and provide a vicarious experience of how it is to do such a trail- without the sore feet.
To present it as commercial or a potential best seller would be foolish because it is plainly not; it will have some interest and appeal to a wide section of readers, but by no means to all. I wrote it because I wanted to.
Suffice to say that it has been read, commented upon, corrected and enjoyed by about 20 sample readers and it may appeal to some of you.
The price of the paperback reflects the materials in 300 pages I assure you, and not any great rewards to myself; it's far cheaper to buy it on Kindle or get it for nothing on Kindle Unlimited.
It's my fourth book and I beg the favour of drawing your attention to it.
If any bloggers feel inclined to review it then please send me a PM.
Thank you.

Hi, this is my first novel and hopefully a good attempt at breaking into authorial life. It's a sci-fi military/adventure which probably bridges the young adult/adult gap.
I'm always firmly of the belief that if only one person finds something worthwhile then it holds validity. So far I have 2 reviews - both complimentary, so I guess I must have done something right.

Darren Humphries is back doing his thing. Why won't anyone stop him?
Erm, I'm just announcing that my latest crop of short stories is out on Kindle for your consideration, or complete indifference. The blurb is as follows:
"Another kaleidoscope of short stories from the fertile, febrile and occasionally foetid mind of Darren Humphries.
Here, common objects like eggs, books, mobile phones, walls and even Lego bricks take on an otherworldly, and sometimes sinister, aspect. Travel to the future and to the past to find that things are not quite how you expected them to be. Skirt the fringe worlds of fantasy, science fiction and horror. Watch as police officers, businessmen, journalists and private detectives encounter fates
they could not have foreseen.
Oh, and take cover as The Man From U.N.D.E.A.D. returns in his latest short adventure."
I had great fun writing it, less fun editing it and no fun at all formatting it, but that's the life of... well me really.

Buy it. Read it. Buy and read his entire back catalogue. You won't be disappointed.

Nope. Only Darren. I'd do it for Stephen King too, if he were a groupite.
Also, I know how much it embarrasses Darren when I say stuff like that. ;)

Happy Reading!!

I've just finished the full rough draft of my second novel - just a gazillion read-throughs and edits, etc. to do now!
My question is - do I stump up the funds to publish it as soon as I have it ready! Book 1 is out but hasn't recouped its costs yet and book 2 follows on from book 1. My gut response is 'publish and be damned' but my rational head puts its foot on the brakes. Please advise your experiences.Gene Weavers: Revelations

The book is only 99p/99cents on Amazon.
"We are blowing one another to bits and the stars just watch. Whether we live or die, kill... or love... the stars just watch. We shall extinguish one another, but no one shall extinguish the stars."
Tonight four sit round a table playing cards. Tomorrow two leave to fight. Over an evening already fraught with tension, emotions run deep and life-shattering secrets threaten to escape.
A powerful novella from the author of FAG, Pride and Not Just a Boy.
Readers should note that this is a new version of the story previously released under the title Is it Her?
Praise for the story:
"A deep love story... marvellous, complex characters, and a tense atmospheric plot... I had to remind myself to breathe. The literary quality of the prose is exquisite and memorable."
"An electric atmosphere of tension and suspense... powerful drama... When the moment of awful revelation comes, the superb quality of the writing ensures that it is traumatic for all concerned, including the reader."
"... wonderful use of realistic dialogue, much of which put me in mind of Harold Pinter's writing..."
"Brilliant, emotional... Buy tissues."

Up on the roof of Rumbelows, Maysie watches as a riot engulfs the small northern town and decides she has to leave. Not even the love of two boys can keep her there. Sometimes though, life has a habit of dragging you back.
Told in short pieces, Énouement is a dark tale of race, privilege, and the bittersweet feeling of looking back and wishing you knew then what you know now.

When Clarissa Bell goes to a shop that sells pre-owned books in search of something different, she finds much more than a new story; she finds herself wrapped in an adventure where fiction extends beyond words on a page and has the power to completely change everything.
Take care when putting pen to paper, when using imagination to create.
For in the unknown twist of everything vast, reality may come into being.
For a limited time, the book will be available for 99p/99c or equivalent in whichever country you happen to reside, so grab it while it's cheap if it takes your fancy (even if it doesn't if you're feeling generous, and wish to take pity on a struggling self-published author).
