Angelanadine | 17 comments Chapter 4 discusses amongst other things the concept that death does not exist because of the 'law' (what law?), why does this offer only protection, what else is there to want? How does witnessing get pulled into this? Witnessing about what, according to ACIM?

This is perhaps the most difficult chapter so far for me to want to understand. Any insights? Comments? Thoughts? Thanks!

Nadine

Nadine I'm sorry that I am not able to offer you any insight on these things at this time. I am currently reading chapter 3. Perhaps Ramon has something to offer.

Kyle Lasalle | 1 comments We are awareness, awareness of love and joy especially. We are Spirit which is Infinite, Eternal, changeless, etc. This is upper level perception.

Lower, bodily awareness is perception of the world as an individual body and all the idiosycrasies of having this body and personality. This level is driven and maintained by fear, anxiety and paranoia.

Anyhow....death doesn't exist in reality because you are not your body. As you watch it age, you will grow depressed and will believe death is true because you take your own ageing and those around you as evidence death is real. There is a body, there is awareness of it's senses but there is also an awareness apart from the body. To the extent that you meditate, and listen to the inner voice for God and invest in the True inner Kingdom, it will become more real to you. You will 'learn to use denial appropriately' and deny that you could be anything but infinite and eternal. It's a 'shift in perception' and it's a process of thought reversal.

The Course emphasizes practical application so I would use this as an opportunity to recognize your relationship to your body, your thoughts about it, get clear on what you believe the meaning of life is, etc. ..then offer your thoughts, your fears and your willingness to the Holy Spirit and you will be Answered. The body is a temple for healing and extending healing. Other than that it is neutral. We have the tendency to create false dichotomies. "What is all encompassing can have no opposite"
