Lys (lysrowan) For April, we are going to do a genre challenge.

We'll be using the genres from the main goodreads genre browse list- don't worry though, subgenres will definitely have a role to play.

Your task will be to read a book from one of the "main" genres provided, and then follow the tags for that book on a romp through other genres.
How many books and genres will be up to you.

Also, keep in mind that April is National Poetry Month and National Humor month, so those genres are great places to start if you're stuck. They can also be used to wipe the slate clean if you hit a dead end.

Genres: https://www.goodreads.com/genres
Art
Biography
Business
Chick Lit
Children's
Christian
Classics
Comics
Contemporary
Cookbooks
Crime
Ebooks
Fantasy
Fiction
Gay And Lesbian
Graphic Novels
Historical Fiction
History
Horror
Humor And Comedy
Manga
Memoir
Music
Mystery
Non Fiction
Paranormal
Philosophy
Poetry
Psychology
Religion
Romance
Science
Science Fiction
Self Help
Suspense
Spirituality
Sports
Thriller
Travel
Young Adult

Example:
I start with Ash for my initial book selection. It fits several of the listed genres (you can locate a book's tagged genres by viewing a book's page on goodreads - they're to the right of the reviews). I use Ash as a Fantasy book, so my next book will need to be another genre that Ash also covers. Young Adult, gay and Lesbian, Romance, and Paranormal are all possibilities. I go with Paranormal and read Tangle of Need. From there I can jump to Romance or Science Fiction, or back to Fantasy.

If you get stuck, you can use Poetry or Humor to wipe the slate and start a new "chain" of books.

Have fun!

Challenge Level:
Easy: Read 4 books, hopping between a minimum of two genres
Medium: Read 6 books, hopping between a minimum of three genres
Hard: Read 8 books, hopping between a minimum of four genres
Epic: Read 10 books. Don't "double-up" on a genre.
