C.D. Coffelt (huntressakacd) | 3 comments I tried to merge two versions of the same book not realizing my total incompetence. *shame*

I want to merge some of the details of the first edition of Out of Magic:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/edit/1...

to my Amazon KDP version:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

I need to change several details of the first version that was published by Musa Publishing in December 2013 such as:
publisher: C.D. Coffelt
ASIN number B00JAPUBSC.
And the book cover needs changed to the new one.

Blurb remains the same.
Thank you.

Karoliina (naihtmae) | 120 comments Hi,

Different editions of the same book are combined rather than merged. Merging deletes the other version and leaves only one, whereas combining links together two different editions of the same book. We only merge books when they are entries of the exactly same edition.

When a new edition is published it's linked with the earlier one, so that we have an entry for all editions of the book on Goodreads. That's why the first version (Musa Publishing) should still have the old information and the old cover, since it's the entry for the earlier version of your book rather than the new one.

The Amazon KDP version had the wrong name (CD instead of C.D.), so the edition didn't show up under your books. I fixed it and combined the editions.

If you want to, you can make the newest edition the default one (so the new cover is what people will see first when they search for your book here) by following the steps here: https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/319-how-do-i-set-the-default-edition-for-a-work
