Kim (kadykayf) Now that you've finished, what do you think?

Stephanie (Gorelenore) Cover2CoverBlog (stephcover2cover) | 19 comments I read this book long after so many people read it because it was sci-fi and that isn't really my cup of tea, but I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The plot was interesting and I wanted to read more but it was also kind of stressful. I was anxious through most of the read. I hope everyone else enjoyed it.

Yes, I was anxious and I think if I reread it, I would enjoy it better. Stressing over what would happen next does not help me enjoy! XD

Asiya (literaryhead) I think I have only one negative point about this book.In my opinion, Prince Kai was not given enough page time, I would say? He was too perfect amidst this chaotic setting and almost unbelievable.

Madiha (Paper Skies) (paperskies) | 1 comments I completely agree! Prince Kai should have been mentioned more and it wouldn't have hurt to see some more Cinder-Kai moments. However, all in all an amazing read! I loved loved loved it! Can't wait to get my hands on the third book. Scarlet (Book #2) was good, but I will always love Cinder the best. I guess. Well just have to wait and see till Winter (Book #4) comes out.

Alex Cooper I put off reading this book for a long time because it didn't sound like something I'd enjoy. The thought of cyborg Cinderella seemed a little off but after hearing everyone rave about it and seeing a discussion for it, I finally tried it and I have to admit, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I thought the original Cinderella elements were fun and the whole Lunar/Earthern situation was interesting. I would say the only downside is that I really don't have a clear mental image of Cinder or Kai. I can imagine her cyborg parts but I don't really see her in my mind.

Sherbie (herpassion) | 5 comments The first time I read Cinder by Marissa Meyer was last January of 2012. For me, it had to be the best Cinderella retelling in the history of mankind. She made the fairytale so much more, and she gave us a cyborg princess. totally magical and badass! i've met marissa in person and she was so kind and smart. she also said "I don't write female characters who only want to have a boyfriend." she's different kinds of awesome :D

I thought the same thing! I love sci-fi movies and TV, but I'm not at all into cyborgs/robots, etc. I do love fairy tale retellings though. I thought the cover looked cool, but the subject didn't appeal to me. I think that's why I ended up reading it--it's so different from anything I would normally read. And I'm so glad I did! I thoroughly enjoyed it. A very original and well-written reimagining of Cinderella. :)

*Layali* (layalireads) | 95 comments I read this one a while back, and I think I may need to reread it so I can catch up on the other two books that are out.

I remember my favorite part was learning about the Queen and the Lunars. Cinderella wasn't my favorite fairy tale growing up, but I definitely enjoyed this retelling.

Agreed, he character was the saving grace to my anxiety throughout the book.

I found myself, in the beginning, focusing too much on the fact that it was a Cinderella retelling. Once I snapped out of that the book became more enjoyable.

MrsBlackmore | 11 comments I liked the part about te lunars and the queen best as well. It was fascinating. I also had trouble with the retelling of Cinderella part but once I got past it I really enjoyed the book. It was well written and very interesting.

Kayla (kaylawrites89) | 43 comments I just finished Cinder today and ermergerd I loved it!!!! Cinderella has always been one of my favorite fairy tales and I think this one is one of my favorites of the Cinderella story. I have Scarlet and I can't wait to start reading it!

Kyla Gergely (kygergely) | 12 comments So it was a slow start, and I had already guessed the ending before I got more than 1/3 through. I have been wanting to read this book for so long, but it didn't hold up to the hype in my opinion. I enjoyed it enough though that I will see Cinder through to the end of her journey and finish the rest of the series as I am able to get my hands on it. I feel like some of the story was kind of dragging. I think that we should have seen more sides of the different characters, and that though it is Cinder's story that she couldn't be everywhere at once and I feel like for the story to have been greater in my mind we could have seen some of the others grow and read what was happening with them more, such as Kai or the doctor or heck even the Lunar Queen.

Karin I liked most of it, but was quite annoyed with the whole mind control part of Lunar control.

I just finished this book. I read it in about 2 days. I flew through it. Loved it. It was all a complete surprise to me since I skipped most reviews. I loved the idea of Earth/Luna. I thought that was an interesting plot. I actually own Scarlet also so I am going to start that one right away. I put Cress on hold at the library and even though it's been out for a while I am still #40!

I love that it is about a Cyborg Cinderella from New Beijing, China. I loved the Asian descriptions in the book. I liked that Cinderella is a strong character and doesn't wait around for the Prince Kai to save her.

I heard there are Sailor Moon references in the book but since I am not a fan I didn't catch those. Did anyone else? I think most of us probably figured out the twist early on and really just waited until the characters found them out.

I just wish I hadn't waited so long to read this book!

Look for a large print copy because often you can get those sooner. That's how we read Cress.

Good idea! I wonder if Kai would've reacted any differently in the book if he had found out sooner Cinder's secret (well the cyborg secret at least).

Ifrah (infinitebooklist) | 6 comments I wonder if Kai already knows the secret. I think he might because there's that one scene when he is sort of suddenly taken back by her and Cinder wonders if maybe her display showed in her eyes. Maybe Kai has already figured it out?

My final thought was that the books was good and I did enjoy it but I was expecting more based on the hype. From what I've heard though, they get better as they go. I love the fairy-tale re-telling aspect of it and I loved that it was set in the future rather than the past. I'm eager to read Scarlet to see what happens next.

Amber | 4 comments I first read this book when it came out. I saw a friend reading it in choir and had to read the inside cover while singing (rather hard task to accomplish). I read it and fell in love. I have an obsession with anything fairy tale related. I thought the futuristic world that Meyer created was very interesting. It had a Firefly feel to it (turns out it was even inspired by it). Recently I went back and Reread it so I could read Cress (halfway through and started earlier today). Reading it the second time was a lot better to me because I wasn't always trying to figure out what waging on between Kai and Cinder. It was such a challenge the first time reading not to skip ahead just to see when Kai was in it next. Overall I love her ideas of how to put bring these fairy tales to life with all the technologies that surround them. Cinder is still my favorite of the books, though.

I really enjoyed Cinder and am looking forward tp Scarlet I would give it 4.5/5 stars. For more details please read my review for Cinder on my profile. Thanks.

Megan Mweemba (meganlovesbooks) I had only heard good things about these books, so I was glad it lived up to the hype. I loved it. I already own the first three books in the series so I plan to start reading the next one pretty soon. I got so immersed in Cinder's world, sometimes I forgot it wasn't real!

Lauren (lray4373) | 4 comments i think that this was a very good book and that it was well writin . I love the charictars and the ways that the main characters met.

Mackenzie (mackiereadings) At the beginning I was reading it slowly, not sure how I felt about it. Once I started to get into it I would stay up way to late at night then be really tired for work. I really enjoyed the book and I am looking forward to reading Scarlet. I think the amount of Kai and Cinder time was good because every time they were together it felt important and special. I liked all of the characters...well not all... but they were all nicely developed and constructed.

Grace (gdaminato) | 520 comments I have to agree with Mackenzie. It took me a long time to get 'into' the book but, as the end approached, I couldn't put it down.

I liked that it wasn't a strict re-telling of the Cinderella story - it just borrowed some points from the fairy tale.

I didn't like the fact that I guessed Cinder's identity on page 44. On the other hand, that's what kept me going through the first part of the book - I wanted to see if my guess was correct.

Yeah, I don't remember exactly what page I guessed her identity, but it was pretty early on too. I was wondering if anybody else figured it out or if it was a big surprise to most people. I can never tell if things are really as obvious as I think they are.

Ifrah (infinitebooklist) | 6 comments About guessing Cinder's identity, I guessed it pretty early on too but I was sort of going back and forth between "yup, that's her!" and "nope, it can't be. it's too obvious." I think that fact that I wasn't 100% sure kept me from not liking the book (if I was 100% sure I think I would have definitely like it less).
I'm thinking the identity probably wasn't a big surprise to a lot of people because it was almost expected right? Cinder had to be much more that what she was.

Grace (gdaminato) | 520 comments Megan [can anybody find me] wrote: "I don't remember exactly what page I guessed her identity."

I made a note of the page because the connection to Cinder seemed so strong and I wanted to remember the event just to see how long it took to have it revealed in the book. I admit, I noted the page out of cynicism because I didn't really like the book at that point. I started to enjoy it more about mid-way through.

Winnie | 4 comments I'm not a huge fan of youth adult romance. I hate how the protagonists fawn over their love interest, torturing the reader with horrible expressions filled with their “love” for this fictitious person. Its literary pages and pages worth of torturous reading that I need to sift through in order to be “slightly” engaged by the storyline/plot itself. Needless to say, I wasn’t expecting much from this novel since it is in the said genre I want to avoid. But after reading a couple of chapters I began to like the story, after finishing, I would say it was a good read. Maybe a 3.5 or 4, nothing ground breaking or heartfelt per se but interesting and pleasant enough none the less.
So yeah, I think I‘ll continue reading towards the end of the series. I just hope that the following novels won’t faultier since I wasn’t very pleased with the second installment. Crossing my toes and fingers for the 3rd and 4th ones!

Megan Mweemba (meganlovesbooks) I just finished reading Cress yesterday and liked it much better than the second one. High hopes for book four!

Carolyn | 106 comments My mom was the one who got me into Cinder. I finished Cinder in January. I loved, loved, LOVED Cinder! I thought it was amazing! :)
