Kim (kadykayf) What are your initial thoughts?

message 2: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (misskellyxo) | 2 comments I am currently reading, well listening to the audiobook of Cinder. Only on page 114 but so far it's really good. The story is interesting and it's a very creative retelling of Cinderella. I can't wait to continue the story on my way home from work!

Emma | 1 comments I find this book so confusing i couldnt get past the 3 chapter

message 7: by Karin (new)

Karin Surprisingly, after a lot of resistance, I enjoyed the first book a great deal and read it in one evening. The second book, well, not nearly as much, but will post that under Scarlet.

T.J. | 3 comments Wow, didn't even see this and I just finished Cress a few days ago. FANTASTIC.

Cinder is one of the very few heroines that don't irritate me.

message 9: by T.J. (new)

T.J. | 3 comments It is my favorite series.

message 10: by Angelicalkiwi (new)

Angelicalkiwi | 7 comments Love this series! I remember loving the cover from the start. The story took a while for me to warm up to, but it was amazing once it got rolling.

Grace (gdaminato) | 520 comments I've just requested it at the library. I'll be starting soon.

message 12: by Karin (new)

Karin So far I like Cinder best, Cress second best (about 3/4 of the way through) and Scarlet least. It's not my favourite series, though.

John I have not read this book, but my sister has. She's not a very fast reader but she tore through this book. She's read all the books that are out and is anticipating the next one. I think its called Winter. She says this is the best series she's ever read.

message 14: by Kyla (new)

Kyla Gergely (kygergely) | 12 comments I was slow to get going in this book, and about 1/3 of the way through the book I knew the big plot twist. I am not sure that I am all too pleased with not being surprised through the book, but instead being able to guess what would happen. I will say though that I did finish the book, and though I knew what was going to happen it wasn't a disappoint as I thought it would be.

message 15: by Karin (new)

Karin Yes, it's called Winter, who is a character we don't get to meet until the book Cress. That's all I'll say to avoid any spoilers as to who Winter is.

Kelly (misskellyxo) | 2 comments I just finished Cinder and it was so good! I am about to begin Scarlet later tonight! Def a must read!!

message 17: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee | 1 comments I thought it was cool how in all Marrisa Meyers books its the Old Tale, New Twist idea. I meet her at Cavalcade and we worked on that idea. She amazing and I love how all of her books twisting together! Marrisa is a genius!

message 18: by Lily (new)

Lily | 41 comments I'm about halfway through and not totally loving it. Although, it's hard to say if it's the book I'm not crazy about or I'm just starting to get burned out on the fantasy/scifi/dystopia genre.

message 19: by Grace (new)

Grace (gdaminato) | 520 comments I'm almost finished the book and here I am posting initial thoughts. So far, I like the book. The only thing that has made me cringe so far is the author's use of 'coronated' as the verb equivalent to 'coronation'. A perfectly good verb exists - it is 'crowned'.

I deduced that this was more than just a retelling of the Cinderella story by the size of the book. The back story in the book is far more detailed than in the original and has an element of mystery besides.
