"Right, the boys are coming, Tuck sighed" (9). The tone of Tuck's voice shows the reader that he doesn't miss his son for some reason that the reader doesn't know. Natalie Babbitt purposely does this so the reader will have to read on for the answers. The tone of Tuck's voice also shows there is some type conflict between Tuck and his sons.
