Please delete this book! (pt. 6)
JG, Well, I did the whole thing, but it'll teach me not to do too much work in the middle of the night. The most popular edition is a Spanish language edition and it merged with that one. Hopefully, anyone who had it shelved as an English language edition will be able to figure it out and switch editions.

JG, My fault just as much. When I edit, I'm supposed to pay attention. By the way, do you remember how many people had shelved it? Not that it matters as what's done is done; they should have paid attention too.
I'm pretty sure it was just over my limit--6 or so. So it's not a gigantic problem, but I should have noticed.

It was manually entered but the author states it was never published. (Here's a whole blog entry by him, where he's amazed that there's a listing on Amazon for it: http://www.brandonsanderson.com/blog/... )
I tried to delete it myself, but even though there are no reviews tied to it, the system tells me that a SL is needed 'for a book with so many reviews'.

Not sure what to do about this one. I've read pretty much everything this author has written, and the only thing that kind of comes close is "Twice the Temptation." But that's it, and there is no info other than that it is an ebook, but as far as I know she hasn't published any ebook short stories. Hmm...odd, according to Enoch's website, her novella in that book was called "A Touch of Scandal"...err, that's weird, because to double check, I pulled the book off my bookshelf and checked and in the book it's called "The Best of Both Worlds"...looks like she has a goof on her site.
Anyway, I found no reference to it being available elsewhere separately as an ebook. A Google search showed it coming up bootleg on torrent sites.
My opinion is that it isn't a valid entry. Someone probably read only that novella out of the ebook and made an entry for it. I've come across that a few times recently...and actually, the person who made this entry is the same one who did two others I came across.

Bootleg does seem most likely. I'd combine it with the parent volume and delete it.

It looks as though the last two are NABs, but I'll check...Edit: I changed them both to NAB.
Eva, We always keep any item with ISBNs because if we delete any, they'll just reappear. If they're not books we change them to NOT A BOOK.

Yikes....of course I already knew that! I've been doing minor edits all morning and it's now time to stop and give my brain a rest. Thanks!
Is there any way a super can see books added by a non-librarian? Here's the problem. This user ( http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/10... ) had entered many duplicate entries, and I was able to delete all of the ones on their shelf (which was about 100). Problem is, I don't think she shelved all of them. Quite a few that I got rid of had no reviews. I want to make sure if there are any more, they get deleted.It was so bad that she added the same book 5 times, spelled incorrectly each time (invonvenience instead of inconvenience). I get way too frustrated when I see things like this, LOL.
No way for a Super to do that, as far as I know (at least I have no idea how to do it). But the GR admin people might be able to look into it.

And we get movies all the time. Sometimes they can be deleted, but more often they get NAB'd.

Thanks, Otis! I went through and fixed these -- and all of them without ISBNs were bad records, mostly uncapitalized and with incorrectly added characters as well!(Thanks for providing the id number, by the way. It made finding the exact record very easy!)
Cait, I noticed when I was deleting hers it was the oldest ones that were bad. Some pretty bad mispellings of titles and authors too.Letitia didn't originally have an ISBN, but there was no other title in GR with that author. When I googled, I did find that title and author with and ISBN, so I plugged that in.
Otis, you rock, thanks! It makes me happy to see there weren't that many more. I'm really starting to wish that only librarians can add books though :( But then again, maybe that wouldn't help...
