Ok so what do we do if before the big B&N add ebooks were added to the system without ISBNs, but now their ISBN counterparts are up? This wouldn't count Kindle editions, since those are very specific, but as for the ones uploaded by B&N, they are using the generic ISBN for those ebook editions.

Should they be deleted then? If you need an example check it out here:

I'd say yes, delete those editions, as long as there's an identical edition with more information, which is the case with this book. Edit: Oh, and as long as you make sure to combine the editions that belong together before deleting. This one is ready to go.

Re the discussion of B&N & ISBNs above, are you referring to those ISBNs starting with 29.....?
If so I've seen quite a lot of them this week and would love to get rid of them.

Actually, we're talking about deleting the ebook listings with no ISBN in favor of the ones with them. ;)

OK, but what are those ones starting with 29.. and a lot of 000s in the middle(13 ISBNs)? They were ebooks too, I'm pretty sure. They just don't look like PROPER ISBNs.

They're not. Nonetheless, they'll presumably reimport if deleted, and an ISBN that's in current use seems to be better than none.

Rivka, I've come across them when inputting the correct ISBN. So we have 2 editions ? for the same ebook but the only difference is the weird ISBN. I haven't deleted them or anything, just combined.

Well, when there's a real ISBN I have sometimes experimented with deleting those editions and seeing if they reimport, which is variable. But I don't necessarily recommend trying this at home. ;)

Well if we decide to do something at a later stage some will be in my ebook shelf so relatively easy to find. I'd like to know where they are coming from and deliver a good swift kick if appropriate. :-)

Lobstergirl, No, it's not. I either message the person (since it's just one in this case) or I combine it with a/the most popular work by that author and delete it. I think some simply delete.

Actually, it was more than one. I'm in the "just delete" camp. The guidelines when creating a book are pretty clear.
