Holy grails..Do you own yours?

People who collect always seem to have some type of 'holy grail' when it comes to their collection...I know I do when it comes to comic collecting (I actually obtained one of them).

Do you have one? Sometimes grails are books which are signed or super rare (low print run) or first editions or all the cover releases...OR sometimes your grail might be simply something very personal to you.

Edit: I forgot to mention...It can even be a book that is old that is in TOP condition. Coming more-so from a comic background I know these can be a real killer for grails.

I don't really have a book grail yet!

I collected the whole series of an author I used to love as a child Monica Edwards. I had to search eBay and bid against other collectors and once or twice I had to pay quite a lot for the rarer ones. But now I own the full set and am very happy!

I don't really Laura, but Phrynne reminded me of Ebay, I completed my series Kristy's Great Idea Baby Sitters Club this way. My girls read them too. But we all grew out of them before finishing;) So it's my personal holy grail. I still read the odd one now.

I think my most prized book would be FOREVER by Mildred Cram not because it is rare or expensive or even popular, but just because of the way it found me and how it affected me. It is, simply, a beautiful story.

Yes it's fun especially when you are bidding in the UK and have to getup really early in the morning if you want to be online at the end:)

I collect early Shakespeare books. The oldest I have is 1911 ... so I have a long way to collect :)

OMG...This is when I brought out the big guns and had a sniping system employed (I didn't always win either). I used to talk about it with my comic buddies...We used to loath those ppl but we were all guilty of it too...ahahaha!!

I got some crazy stories about late night/early mornings when i never used a system....I now rarely buy on eBay so those days are long gone..But heck good memories,yo!

I hated people who did that! The fun was all in trying to make that quick last bid. It got boring when they changed it and I don't really go there much any more:)

My collection of childhood favourites is my holy grail. Famous Five series, both of Enid Blyton's boarding school series, and her magic faraway tree series, cherry Ames nurse series, and then stand alones like Heidi, The Secret Garden, What Katy Did ( actually there are 3 books in this series) and my pride and joy - original first edition copy - The Little White Horse to name a few

I used to hate people who'd do it too which is why I joined in..I don't think it is exactly correct to use it either.

That's right. It lost its fun when all you had to do was put in your maximum bid and go to bed. I enjoyed setting my alarm and getting up at all hours and then that race to get a last bid in just before time was up.
