I loved it! The book is full of great characters. My personal favorite is Sam. There is still so much we don't know about her yet. And the best thing about Magnus Chase..... Chapter titles! The chapter titles are great! My only complaint is that the story seemed it had to much comedy at time and had only a couple of serious moment. But other than that the book was amazing and I am so ready for Magnus Chase: The Hammer of Thor.

I think it was sad. Just sad. Magnus has the same voice as Percy. I think it would have been better if he had been a book nerd or a shy person--he was EXCACTLY like Percy. It's really annoying actually. The story was more than predictable, there was too much packed in, and the only parts I liked were when Annabeth was involved. It was trying too hard, but still not reaching it. There was not enough difference between Percy and Magnus for me to actually enjoy the book. I'm not saying this as a hater, I'm saying this as a fan. I have always loved Percy and his universe, and I hate to see it ruined in this way.

I DID NOT LIKE IT.

MAGNUS CHASE IS A WATERED DOWN VERSION OF PERCY JACKSON.

Let’s Rant: Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer

I have all these people saying “20 pages in and I’m already in love!”, but I beg to differ.

Let’s just face it, Rick Riordan is far too attached to Percy to ever write another amazing story. We all saw the mess that was HoO, and now we’re given this piece of crap. He probably worked hard on it and all, but in all honesty, the only reason I bought it was for the extra (Crown of Ptolemy crossover).

Probably some would say “Maybe you’re the one who’s too attached to Percy and refuse to accept any other!” Let me just say, did you not notice the obviousness that is Magnus Chase’s own voice and the similarity with Percy's? He is literally Percy and Leo mushed together. Rick, if you actually want to write a story next time, please forget all about Percy and remember that they are not the same.
The instant I flipped through the book, I was already thinking, oh, great. It’s just another let-down.

Magnus Chase doesn’t seem natural or alive. The PJO series had characters that were different, fresh and had separate personalities and a few that matched up. Magnus just seemed two dimensional and was a poorly whipped up character. Rick probably just thought, hey, what would be even more of an amazing story to add to my NEVERENDING list of “Percy Jackson related stories”! I bet my readers would love that!

To be honest, he should have just stopped at PJO.
Everything after that was all just a horrifying lump of ideas that he was desperate to put together. It was like watching a butterfly going reverse in its life cycle (HINT: it just gets uglier and uglier).

The plot was probably very fun, but Magnus weighed it down. And probably because Rick had a thousand different ideas of how a mythical being could attack, he mashed it all into a colossal mess in desperation (like he did with HoO).

I risked my parents’ wrath when I bought this book, and now I just wished I had put it down and picked up a Sofia the First colouring book, because that would have been a thousand times more fun that the disappointment that is the Sword of Summer.

This book belongs to that corner of my bookshelf where I keep all the books I never would spare at glance at anymore after reading it once.

20 pages in, and I’m already sick of it.

Magnus Chase was okay, but Rick Riordan's other books are way better. Magnus Chase is a bit too much like Percy, just not with the same effect. Some variation in character would have been nice.

Rick Riordan's Magnus Chase is amazing! I liked that sword summerbrander's gossips the most!totally new stuff about the Norse Gods.

I think Hearth or Magnus are my favorite characters. Magnus reminds me of Percy Jackson.
