Here, we are introducing where we are in reference to ACIM. For instance: You just started reading ACIM and know very little about it. Where did you hear about ACIM? What do you think caused you to begin reading ACIM? What do you expect to get from reading ACIM? Information that would allow others in the group to know where you are. And to clarify the topic - we are not interested in who you think you are personally, as ACIM will certainly tell us that we do not really know our true self.

ACIM has been with me for about 15 years. A friend of mine was reading it and I wanted to read it as well. So, I wrote a letter to the Foundation for Inner Peace and they sent the book to me for free. It took me about 18 months to complete the text and do the lessons. My thought process has been altered ever since.

ACIM has since become a reference book for me. And, now, I have decided to read it again - entirely. One reason for this is because it has been revised. And, this time, I would like to have others with me on the journey.

Welcome to Julie and Angelanadine to our new group. Also, Julie has been added as a moderator.

Angelanadine | 17 comments Hi guys!

Why am I reading this book? Hmm...I've read the bible a couple of times, just got done with the Jefferson bible two weeks ago. I feel a disconnect to the inspired message of the bible at this point, I feel like there is a more universal book with a more loving truth out there for me. ACIM is a book that has come up in my awareness a few times, and I just feel led to this book now. I just got this book yesterday, and immediately started reading it. I feel a very strong sense of connection and purpose and inspiration. I expect to grow spiritually and feel more inspired.

I look forward to discussing! I was wondering, is there any type of recommended schedule for reading the actual work over the course of a year?

Thanks
Nadine

Well - that is a very good question. Both Julie and I have read the text already. But, both of us are reading it again - only our reason is different.

Let us start with The Preface - How it came - What it is - What it says.

Then, the Introduction.

And through subsection one of chapter 1 - Principles of Miracles.

It will give you some context and allow Julie and I to review. Of course, we can ask questions at any time.

Our first topic will depend on the questions brought up. I will certainly ask for thoughts concerning anything that comes to my attention as well.

The only recommended schedule comes from when we get to the lessons, which won't be for some time.

I've read many of books written by Marianne Williamson. Some of those were inspired by her study of ACIM. She expressed the change it made in her life. I was intrigued by her writings. At many times in my life I have felt the desire to find a deeper meaning and better understanding of myself and the relationships in my life. I too have read Bibles, but never gained a sense of enlightenment from them. Marianne Williamson published a set of daily meditation cards based loosely on ACIM. I read ACIM once, but found it to be very overwhelming. I hope that by reading it again, and with the help of reading it as part of a group, I will be able to appreciate what it has to offer.

We welcome T.Y. Chambers to our group. Finally staying a member of one of the other ACIM groups has paid off.

She is an author and we are truly happy to have her as one of our members.

Wow! That is a very interesting summary. Like you, ACIM has been following me for more than 15 years. And, until I came to Goodreads, haven't had anybody to interact with on the subject.

I bring up some of the things I understand when asked, but for the most part, I try to keep it simple. Understanding how this material follows us in life has not been a topic here - yet - but feel free to elaborate and lets get the others to comment on this topic as well.

Hi T.Y. I don't see a link to your blog. Would you mind posting it? I'm very interested in reading it.
