message 151: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi sighed. "She's well..." she looked down, fiddling with her hands. "She's supposed to be a lawyer..." She tried to hold back the words, but here came the moment where she spilled everything, just because she was with Eli. "She was actually.... a con agent." She said softly, looking down.

message 152: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Well, at least that made sense. And it made even more sense why Lucifer was especially angry. A con agent conning him, the greatest con man, so to speak. "You're not your mother," Eli said, sticking his hands in his pockets. His finger brushed against the hilt of his knife. The omnipresent reminder.

message 153: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi nodded slowly, "Yeah... but somehow my parents mistakes have always come back to haunt me." She sighed, running a hand through her hair. "I cant help but feel guilty about it. I have always been blamed for their mistakes. My own parents even blamed me for them." Her voice was soft, barely a whisper. She was fighting hard not to cry.

message 154: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Which partly explained why was she was, once again, taking the blame for her parents' mistakes. Eli shifted, foot to foot. "Which is why you moved here. To start over. Away from it all." But not far away enough, it seemed.

message 155: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi nodded slowly. She buried her face in her hands. "But it isn't working. No matter where I go, the demons follow me." She shook her head, letting he tears fall. "I cant fight them. They just keep on coming." She said softly .

message 156: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) The irony in her statement struck Eli as especially funny, seeing as he was a demon, he was chasing her right now, hunting her down, and she didn't even know it. With a wry, pressed smile, Eli sat down on the bench beside her. "Beats a few other things I can think of."

message 157: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi shook her head slowly. She wasn't aware of the irony of course, and was somewhat hurt that Eli seemed to find this situation funny. "Like what?" She asked hesitantly. She wanted confirmation that she had done the right thing by moving out here.

message 158: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) "At least in a new place people don't have the preconceptions always present when you've known someone since their birth. And... At least you're not in hell." Eli really needed to stop bringing that up before Lexi caught on.

message 159: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi shrugged and nodded at his first comment. However, at his second, she straightened slightly. There it was again. Him talking about hell like he knew it. "I sure feel like I'm in hell." She said. Without looking up, she added. "How would you know that hell is any worse than this anyways?" She asked him softly, almost curiously.

message 160: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) And she had caught on. Eli had marked her as a quick study from the beginning. "Just... Trust me." He had nothing better to say. It wasn't like he could tell her the truth, and even if he could, if he did, there was no way she would believe him. "Be happy you're here."

message 161: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi nodded slowly, still staring at her hands. Eli was quite the case. She told him everything when she wss around him, he seemed so depressed, and he was always where she was somehow... She looked up at him slowly. "I do trust you." She said sofly, watching his eyes. She said it in a way that almost implied 'but I wish you would trust me enought to tell me.'

message 162: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Your mistake, Eli thought. His mouth tightened, words he could never say on the tip of his tongue. How foolish humans were, with their blind faith and trusting natures and willful ignorance. What he would give to be one of them again. But those days were past, centuries ago, and now he XD barely remember what being human felt like. A bittersweet memory tucked away in an attic full of cobwebs. He inclined his head in a silent thanks.

message 163: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi nodded back slowly, looking at her hands. The way that conversation had gone was... intersting. It was almost as if he did know something about hell. But how was that even possible? Lexi sighed, fiddling with her sleeves. She wished he would tell her what he knew, but she also wasnt going to pry him for it. She wasnt that type of person. She wasnt like her mother.

((G2g. Last post for tonight.))

message 164: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((Aight, see you!))

Eli took a deep breath and leaned back, watching the joggers passing them intermittently. Lexi's lack of questions amazed him; usually by now most people would have pried deeper than he would ever want anyone to. What was he doing. What in the name of satan was he still doing here.

message 165: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi twined her fingers together, huffing long and slow. Finally she looked up. "You know you can tell me." She said slowly. "I am good at keeping secrets..." she played with a loose chip of wood on the bench. "But if you dont want to, I'll understand."

message 166: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) "This is not the type of secret that you would want to know," Eli said, voice matter-of-fact, not looking at Lexi. "Some things are better kept between you and yourself, know what I mean?"

message 167: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi nodded, sighing slowly. "I know what you mean, and I respect your decision." She paused for a second, and then sighed. "I just know from experience that some secrets are hard to bear alone." She said softly, fiddling with her hands.

message 168: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Eli only shook his head, unwilling to keep talking in case Lexi was smart enough, and crazy enough, to suspect anything near the truth. He shifted and the gun tucked into the waistband of his jeans poked his back uncomfortably.

message 169: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi just sighed and nodded, figuring that he probably didn't want to talk. She rain her hand through her bangs slowly and huffed. "Well..." she looked over at him. "Guess I'll see you around." She got up stiffly and stretched a little, starting to walk forlornly away from Eli on the park bench.

message 170: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Eli rested his elbows on his knees and pinched the bridge of his nose, knowing that if he were human, he would have a pounding headache by this time. This was going completely downhill. Why hadn't he killed her yet. He had had enough opportunities. And why did he feel... Never mind. It was idiotic, and now he was going to get in a hell of a lot of trouble for this fantastic mess.

message 171: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi walked away slowly, shoving her hands in her pockets. She was drawn to Eli. She felt like she could talk to and confide in him. She had no reason to trust him, and yet she did. She just wanted to run over and hug him, but she restrained herself, and forced her feet to carry her away.

message 172: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((So sorry, I've been really busy.))

Eli stayed like that a moment more, then stood, face settling back into an emotionless stone once again. He started walking towards downtown New York, pushing every thought, everything that was running through his head but that he didn't want there, away.

((Want to skip?))

message 173: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments (It's ok. I understand. And sure, where should we skip to?))

message 174: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((Err... Library? I think I'm going to have Eli look into what her parents did, try to find public records, news clippings, about something. Did you have an idea about what her mom did?))

message 175: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((Ok. And I'll guess she'll be there just reading :P No, I didn't have anything specific in mind, so if you have ideas that would be amazing :) ))

message 176: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((Aight. Her mom's a painter, right? She could have asked to be a famous painter. That's pretty simple tho.))

message 177: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((sure. Well, she paints in her spare time. She's actually a con agent. I'm just trying to think of how she could have double crossed the devil... :P ))

message 178: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((OH. Ok, I had an idea. What if her mom made a deal to, umm, be rich or something, and in exchange the devil simply asked for a favor, not specifying. Turns out, the devil wants Lexi to open the gates of Hell for him, but he needs her in Hell for that to happen. When the devil came back to collect his favor, Lexi's mom disagreed and that somehow led to Lexi leaving home? And so Lucifer sent Eli to kill Lexi to get her to Hell.

Also, I'm so sorry I haven't replied in a while, I'm really busy and my replies will probably be slow for the next few weeks.))

message 179: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((That is a great idea!!!! So he needs Lexi in Hell, so she can open the gates and unleash all hell on the world? Correct? And no problem. I understand. I wasn't on all day today as well... so sorry :/))

message 180: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((I may or may not have gotten my inspiration from Supernatural xD
Yup, that's about it. Only thing, she needs a reason to be in Hell... Maybe she hurt her dad or something? Idk...
And thanks for understanding.))

message 181: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((Lol nice. Yeah. She might have taken out her anger on someone or something like that...? I don't see it being her father though. She's scared of him. However, it could be someone else. Um... if Lexi did get killed and landed in hell at some point (if Eli did end up killing her after he gained his trust later on) , would she be able to get out again, at all? because her and Eli battling tons of demons sounds exciting. Lol, just a thought. and no problem. :) ))

message 182: by corina (last edited Apr 29, 2014 07:31PM) (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((Yeah, it doesn't even need to be violence per say, just some sin that would land her in Hell. I'm thinking
(a) Eli will kill her and then have some change of heart and go after her to get her out (either before or after she sets Lucifer free), which results in the aforementioned demon fighting ;)
or (b) Eli will decide he won't kill her, enter Lucie, somehow Lexi ends up in Hell anyways (perhaps Eli as well) and Eli either goes to get her out (if he's not sent to Hell) or they fight their way out of Hell together (if he is sent to Hell with her from the start).
Does any of that appeal to you?))

message 183: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((All of those sound good to me. :) Which one do you like best?))

message 184: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((Err.... I'm leaning towards the first at the moment, but depends on where our storyline takes us. But we can keep going with that in mind as the basis?))

message 185: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((Sure, sounds good :) That way Eli would still be respected as a demon I guess. And it would add conflict between them... XP))

message 186: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((YAY conflict. That's actually what I was thinking. Ah, trust is such a fun thing to play with... I'm really happy I have writing as therapy or else god knows what I'd do in real life... XD

So where should we start now?))

message 187: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((lol I know right? :D

hmmm, want to start just a little before he kills her?))

message 188: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((Sure!))

Eli hurried down the empty street, glad that despite it being New York City, the city that never sleeps and all, there was next to no one out at this ungodly hour of the night- or morning. Four, to be exact. Stopping in front of an abandoned building, fire escape hanging to the bricks by mere nails and a padlock across the door, Eli glanced around to make sure no one was around. Certain he was completely alone, he put a hand to the padlock. A short hiss and a smell like acid, and it fell open. He slipped inside.

He took the stairs two at a time, unconcerned by the dangerous whine it made beneath his weight and the threat of collapse. Once on the second floor, he checked the gun in the waistband of his jeans and the knives in his sleeves, pulled out a can of black spray paint, and started drawing on the dusty concrete floor.

message 189: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((And I actually have to go now, so sorry.))

message 190: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((No problem. I am eagerly waiting to continue :) ))

Lexi sighed softly and pulled her hair tie out, letting her long hair fall in loose waves on her shoulders. She untied her apron and smacked her hands together to get the flour off. Pulling off the apron, she hung it up and left the restaurant, the bell a top the door jingling as it always did. She walked out into the familiar streets, scanning the road briefly before crossing and walking slowly back towards her apartment.

message 191: by corina (last edited Apr 30, 2014 03:39PM) (new)

corina (molteneyes) (( :) ))

Completing the design, an intricate spiral filled with symbols that no one but those who had seen Hell would recognize, Eli sat back on his heels, one knee on the ground and forearm resting on the other knee. He threw the now empty spray paint bottle unceremoniously to the side, and pulled the candle from his pocket. He set it down in the center of the design and snapped his fingers. The flame sputtered to life, the smell of sulfur wafting around the rundown features of the room as the fire created flickering shadows on the walls, light reflected through the swirling dust motes.

Pulling a dagger from its sheath, he held his hand out over the swirling black design and with a quick stroke cut an angry red line straight across his palm. He didn't flinch. Blood welled up at the cut, dark red and smelling of copper, and he let the drops fall onto the curling black lines. Five in a circle surrounding the candle, and the final directly onto the flame, snuffing it out immediately, releasing an unexpected breath of cold air. As the sixth fell, Eli chanted under his breath, words no one on earth would recognize.

And then he stood and walked to the boarded up window. Lexi would come, not knowing why or how, but she would come. The spell he had just worked ensured as much.

message 192: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi stiffened suddenly, her eyes going all black for a second, and then back to normal, but now they were dazed. They looked dull, as if they were made of glass. Lexi turned stiffly and started walking methodically in the other direction. She walked all the way through town and to an old abandoned building. Walking methodically up to the top floor, she moved until she stood infront of Eli. Her eyes were still glazed, and she stood stalk still, not moving a muscle.

message 193: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Eli could feel her behind him, waiting the way she was forced by the spell to, though it would wear off quickly now that she was actually here. He turned around to face her. The boarded up window silhouetted his figure, his face lost in shadow, but his eyes were unmistakable. The whites were gone, the dark green was gone, and their place was black. Hardening himself against the internal voice that was screaming that this was wrong, though he didn't understand why, he slid his already bloody knife from its sheath slowly.

message 194: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi stood still for another long minute, and then she twitched a little, her face pulling into a frown. She shook her head then, blinking and rubbing her temples. She looked up, scanning the room. "What hap-" she spotted Eli then. "Eli! What are you doing here? I havent seen you in a while, and frankly I was worried about you..." her voice drifted off when she noticed his eyes. Her own widened. "E-Eli? What is going on?" She asked, looking around the room then at the strange symbol, and the candle...

message 195: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Eli moved imperceptibly, but rapidly. He switched his grip on the knife, flipping it so the point was up. "Orders are orders," he said quietly, carefully keeping both his face and his voice as emotionless as ice. None of the internal turmoil was evident on his face. But for just a second, the dam broke, and a look of desperation crossed his features, though his jet black eyes betrayed nothing. They say eyes are the windows to the soul, and if it were true, then Eli's soul was nothing: a festering, black nothing.

"I'm sorry," he repeated again, and plunged his knife into her chest, just below the rib cage, and up into her heart. Her dark red blood seeped out over his fingers and he caught her as she stumbled, lowering her with gentleness that was completely out of place to the dusty floor.

He couldn't bear to look her in the eyes.

message 196: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments Lexi spotted the knife and her heart started to pound. She gasped, but was unable to say anything before there was a searing pain throughout her body. She went weak in the legs staring down at the knife in her chest. Her face wrinkled up with emotion briefly and she reached up a shaking hand to grab the handle and wrench it out, dropping it on the ground as he lowered her there herself. Her head was swimming and her lungs were jerking violently, trying to stay alive. She frowned a little, a tear slipping out of her eye and running over her cheek to splash on the dusty floor. "Eli...?" She whispered in hurt and confusion, before her body relaxed and a long sigh escaped her lips, her head rolling to the side as her eyes fluttered closed.

message 197: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) Lips pressed into a grim, shaking line, Eli let her rest on the floor as the last breath of life escaped her. The complete sense of betrayal that had permeated her voice hit him like a dagger in the chest, identical to the one he had given her. Only fair, it seemed.

He stood, watching her lifeless body with a sense of trepidation. He knew where her soul was going, but even after the deed, he didn't know if he had done the right thing. Why her and not her mother?

A light cough behind him made Eli whirl around, gun out in front of him at ready in less than two seconds.

"Easy, tiger," came Lucie's voice from the shadows. "You're getting negligent. Or is it the emotional trauma?" she asked, tone condescending. She stepped into the faint light, kicking up dust. She held a cigarette loosely in the fingers of one hand, smoke curling upwards lazily, and in the other a knife.

He didn't lower the gun. "What are you doing here," he demanded, voice flat.

((You can be Lucie if you want; I was just going to have her tell him why he had to kill Lexi.))

message 198: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((Ok. Might as well, seeing as Lexi's dead...))

Lucie smiled sadistically, blowing smoke out of pursed lips slowly. "I came to make sure you would actually finish it." She said, a small smile on her glossed lips.

She stepped forwards slowly, looking down at Lexi's lifeless and cold body. "I have to admit Eli. I didn't think you could do it." She stared at her cigarette for a long moment, before taking a long breath on the end of it. "They were starting to say you had... well, gone soft." She said, her lips pressing into a slim smile.

She looked over at him, as if coming out of a daze then. "But you got it done, so that's all well and good. Less work for me really." She turned lazily, waving at him with the hand that held the cigarette. "See you 'round Eli." She called cheerfully, before disappearing back down the stairs of the building.

message 199: by corina (new)

corina (molteneyes) ((Oh, the things we do for the sake of the story... killing characters, torture, putting them through Hell...))

Eli refused to look back to Lexi's body. Quickly tucking the gun back into the waist of his dark jeans, he took the steps two at a time following Lucie, easily catching up to her and her cloud of nicotine smoke. He grabbed her upper arm and, spinning her, slammed her against the wall, his forearm against her collarbone keeping her in place.

"Why was it so important that I kill her." His face was deadly serious. There was no way a simple deal gone rotten could have been prioritized this highly. In Lucie's words, they were starting to say he had gone soft. And never before had someone been sent to clean up behind him - not that there had ever been much reason to.

And he had figured out who Lucie really was. He was surprised he hadn't figured it out sooner, but what reason was there? It didn't make sense. Lucie - One of Lilith's many names when she wanted to go unnoticed, in addition to being a tribute to Lucifer.

"Why are you here, Lilith."

message 200: by Lara (new)

Lara (gurlwhowrites) | 8327 comments ((yeah, no kidding XD))

She grinned wryly at him, not fazed at all by the fact that he was pinning her up against a wall. In fact, she acted like she was rather enjoying it. She reached around his arm to take another pull of her cigarette, blowing the smoke in Eli's face slowly. "I told you Eli. I didn't think you were this slow." She laughed softly.

"The devil doesn't like to be double crossed Eli. Her mother was a cunning little witch. One of the best." she laughed softly. "Too bad she was too good." She smiled up into his eyes, her own completely black now. "Her mother didn't care if she died, see. So the only way to get back at her, was to take the only thing she loved. Her precious, perfect, beloved daughter." She said, spitting each word out like it was made of sand.

"She's been sent to unlock the gates of hell Eli." she said, excitement in her voice. We'll be free. Everyone will be free. No more hiding." She laughed in glee. "I can't wait." Her eyes glittered dangerously.
