Magic! I have never heard of this book or author before. The book sounds interesting.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I'm really enjoying Warbreaker! I'm intrigued by the story and curious what will happen. I love Denth and Tonk Fah, they're so funny! They must be more than just regular mercenaries, and I can't wait to find out more about them.

Sarah | 18550 comments Yes there are an interesting bunch of characters in the book Peggy. Glad you're enjoying it!

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Although Warbreaker is not the best book I ever read in terms of writing, I find the story highly entertaining. I find myself thinking about everything that's going on and making guesses about the motives/background/future of the priests and the god king and Denth and others. It's fun!

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I finished Warbreaker! I wish I would have read it in a buddy read, so many things that were interesting to discuss were happening! I really enjoyed it: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

It was a bit shorter than I expected. According to my ereader there were 684 pages, but it turned out the last 150 were not part of this book. I felt a bit sad!

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I went with Hostage. As usual Robert Crais brings an adventure with California cops. Not the LAPD this time but a former SWAT turned backwoods police chief. He is thrown into negotiating a hostage situation which forces him to face all his fears from his former life as a negotiator. This book had far too many twists to get into a whole lot of detail and not spoil anything. Lets say when it comes to criminal screw ups these 3 get hit with everything ole Murphy (law) can throw at them. I quite enjoyed this and felt it a nice change from the LAPD scene of his other books I've read of the stand alone novels.

Delmy (needfulreads) Persuasion by Jane Austen

I have no words for how much i love this book, it is my first time reading this one and i swear i would not be opposed to reading it again, which i rarely tend to do. The love story between Anne and Captain Wentworth, its one for the ages i think, there is no action or mystery or sex, it is a book held strong through the characters and the story itself is engaging and not at all boring. Obviously, while you may have already guessed the ending i will not give it away but what hooks you is the anticipation of the coming together of two people who have waited years in bated breath to see each other, being separated by well intentioned friends and family and misunderstandings and (view spoiler) Truly one of my favorite books.

I need to give this one a re-read sometime. It has been too long to remember the details for me. I think I did not appreciate Austin's writing enough when I was younger. Thanks for reminding me Delmy.

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11458 comments I read Suspect by Robert Crais. It is about a Marine dog who is shell-shocked and a police officer who also suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The story switches between the cop and the dog to show their behaviors and why each is responding to things as they do.

A different kind of perspective from other canine stories. You'll recognize the behaviour AND learn why such a response is given, by both the man and the dog.

You will also find yourself rooting for both!

I think it would make a good movie. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Esther (nyctale) | 5195 comments Well, obviously I am not going to be done with Neverwhere this month. One of the 2, (yes 2!) Books i finished this month is Tricked.

This is the 4th of the Iron Druids series. Hammered, the 3rd one, i did really like so I started it with dread. But no, it was back to normal. Pure entertainment as usual. Tricked is a turning point in the series, one where everything but the main characters (I suspect) will change.

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments That's intriguing, Esther! So far, I have read on the first book in the series, but have purchased 2 & 3. I want to listen to the entire series because the narrator is so much a part of what makes this series.

Esther (nyctale) | 5195 comments Well, I will be interested to get your take on them.

My library have the lastest ones in this series on audio. i will give them a try.

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments I abandoned Hounded on my first go. After reading some of the comments about the book here pointing out that it was quite humourous, I realized I was too serious about it, so gave it a second chance. I really enjoyed it the second time around. I love Luke Daniel's narration of the book. My favourite character was Oberon, the dog.

Hexed is #9 on my audiobook list with some lengthy chunksters ahead of it, so it will likely be a while before I get to it.
