Well, today I was looking up videos of Regina Mills being tortured/killed... while I know there should be a lot, I'm just not finding many besides her being shocked by spoiler and various scenes of her mother spoiler...
{shrugs}
So, I moved on to reading Jennifer Estep to sate my desire for fictional pain. {gets a slightly goofy grin}
Jennifer Estep is AWESOME!
She's a great writer, with awesome characters and sufficiently sad backstories (along with grim plots) to almost beat out Tamora Pierce as my favorite author...! Almost. Not quite, though.

Oh, yeah...
The reason that Jennifer Estep isn't quite my favorite author is the fact that if her books were movies... they'd be R rated. Sex, violence, cursing and mentions of all sorts of recreational things make this series one that I always have to worry about my parental unit finding when I bring them home from the library...

Plus, I can't really recommend them to any of my friends (most are at least three years younger than me).

It's an ancient Roman festival that was held around this time... a possible precursor to Valentine's Day.
Though, instead of giving out a lot of extremely pink/red stuffed animals, candy, jewelry and cards, the Romans had their youth run around town naked, slapping all the pregnant women to supposedly help them deliver easier.
Dunno which one sounds more (or less, whichever way you look at it) appealing, frankly.

If you like books with elemental magic, assassins, sad pasts, bloody fights, female heroines (sort of), set in modern day US, in a sort of alternate universe (it's got several different types of people; vampires - they're not undead, they just can drink blood and have longer lifespans than humans, elementals and giants... - giants - people who are generally about six feet tall, give or take several inches... usually give - dwarves - people who are generally around five foot three, give or take several inches... usually take, who have extremely muscular figures and have longer lives than humans, elementals and giants - and elementals - people who are able to control up to two of the elements; Metal, Fire, Ice, Water, Lightning, Acid, Stone, Air, so on...), dirty cops, bad guys running the show, and a whole lot of revenge stories...
...then yeah, I'd definitely check it out eventually.
