Hi, I've just bought a copy of The Kalevala, the Finnish epic which was collated from Finnish oral folklore by Elias Lonnrot. It also inspired JRR Tolkien when writing Lord of the Rings. Would anyone be interested in reading and discussing this work?

Ive read various versions of the Kalevala... over the years and really love it. I hesitate to call it medieval because though its based on folkloric material that certainly includes ancient myths... The Kalevala itself is penned by Elias Lönnrot and is a product of 19th century romanticism and literary nationalism.
I understand that there is very little literature in finnish older than the Kalevala but to call it medieval would probably lead to more confusion.
I agree with you? Why is it under Medieval literature?In case i'm also in disussing it.
