Will we be able to keep our member corners for 2016?
You can! We will initially archive all threads, then we will have a way for you to let us know you want to keep your 2015 thread for 2016.
will you guys be needing help with the transition? is there anything as members we can do to help things run smoother?

Looking forward t this group. I will start with 24 books for 2016. I live In Lead-Deadwood, SD by Mt Rushmore. Have over 15 books all ready on my too read list-I appreciate all the work the mods do on this.Really appreciate feedback and my favorite authors-in no particular order are- Ken Follett, Mark Twain, Robert Caro, Jk Rowling and Janet Evanovich.

I am just reading my first Ken Follett book, Fall of Giants, and am really enjoying it! What else would you recommend from him?

Kelsi-you have found a gem and I just finished the 2nd in the trilogy-Winter of the World which is just as good as Fall of Giants.-No spoiler alerts from me but is fascinating to see how their lives play out. Have saved the last book-Edge of Eternity to read around Christmas as a Christmas present to me-Happy reading !!

Is the first book of a trilogy so maybe the next two will be good. Also check The Pillars of the Earth

I can't believe we're looking at the horizon of 2016. Where did the time go? At the same time, I'm super excited to wrap up some of my 2015 yearly challenges and push into the new year!
When will we get our 2016 corner? Will we be able to work on them before new year? I wil be moving some chllenges and generally use the same I did this year ^^
The Corners will go live when we start putting up challenges so that you can start planning. Expect it in the next few days.
:-D :-D yay!! I have used my corner a lot this year. Put in countless hours flicking on it. Gotten quite fond of my own little space there^^
2016 will be great. Just trying to reach my goal for 2015 now. Don't usually have any trouble but with getting sick and going through surgery and chemo it set my reading back this year. I know I won't be completing a few of my yearly challenges :( It's always fun to have new challenges to peak our interest in reading!

Don't worry about not completing your challenges-- I don't know if I'll complete mine either. The point is to just keep reading. :)

Getting less likely every day though. To finish I have to read 19 handpicked books just for challenges and finished the ones I already have started, yeah right :P
Can't believe it is 2016! No questions about the transition but would like to take a moment to say I really appreciate your hard work (and all the moderators) and the way you keep things interesting. So pleased to hear the group will continue. This was my first year and it was a great experience.
I look way too much forward to my first whole year here:P I'm ready almost to start 2016 now:P
I know what you mean, Winter! As I'm picking out books for my yearly challenges, I have to restrain myself from starting right now.
I am very much looking forward to another year with this group! I am going to try something a little different for 2016. I have a lot of books on my TBR that I didn't get to touch and I have a lot of non-fiction and research material to read for my two novels. So I am only going to participate in yearly challenges and only with books that are already on my list.
I am going to do my very, very best not to add too much new stuff - this year any way! Let's see how I make out! :)
That's a great strategy. I was able to fill up my yearly challenges with books I already own, with only a couple of books I'll need to request from the library. If I can make it through those challenges, I'll have whittled my collection down by over half... And I'm going to try to use as many other owned books for quarterly and monthly challenges. I've finally curbed the habit of buying new books (thank you, wonderful library system!) so now all I have to do is work through the ones I already have.
I am rather aghast that 2015 passed me by. No books read, no group participation. I'm looking forward to jumping back in next year.

I'm just wondering when the 2016 Personal Challenge folder will be out there? I use that folder for my personal reading goal, as well as other miscellaneous challenges, and use my member corner for challenges from this group. Thanks!

I have seen that there are already 12 Challenge post it for next year. Not sure it that means this is the list for all the challenge for next year, but I was wonder if is not going to be like ReadWomen or similar as the last years.... Any information about it?
Caro, we're not planning on any other yearly challenges that haven't been posted. Read Women is one of my favorites too, but we've done in twice now so we thought we'd make room for others. I wouldn't be surprised if it makes a reappearance later. ;)
I'm newer to the group. I'm just wondering what the timeline is for monthly and quarterly challenges to be set up. I am just kind of wondering if I need to put in a big order at my local library before the holidays hit.
We usually try to have the monthly challenges posted by the 25th of the month. We should have the quarterly challenge up in the next few days, I think, but we don't have an official timeline for that.

Caro, I'll take the hit for that one. I thought we should do another A to Z challenge since it was so popular. Please check out the Around the World Challenge. In the last few years, so many new women writers have popped up from all different countries. I really encourage reading stories from women in South/East Asian countries. The look into their lives can be really enlightening. I wasn't planning on doing the Around the World challenge officially, but I have it in my mind to read as many books by women from different countries as possible just for myself.
The A to Z challenge also looks amazing! Don't even think to change it! Characters instead of books looks even better! But to mix the challenge of the countries with women sounds great! Was not thinking about that. To be honest I do not know many women writers outside the western world so it could be even a richer experience....

Caro, if you are doing the Listopia Challenge, there are lots of Lists on Listopia that are about or focus on women or female authors. You could always do Listopia and choose one or more list that focus on female authors.

Was not thi..."Jodi is right, Caro. There are some lists that can help with finding female authors from more diverse countries. I used this one to help me plan some books for next year.

I may not participate in the Listopia challenge (to many challenge already) and I do not want to finish the year leaving some of them unfinished as this year, but I will certainly use the list of inspiration to find more female authors to read!
I'm like a kid in a candy store with all these challenges! The all look interesting and fun, but I have to check myself and remember not to join so many that I can't complete them (not saying I dropped the ball in 2015 or anything, but......) I'm trying to limit my yearly challenges to ones I can realistically complete, and I'm looking for overlaps between them. Hopefully I'll do better in the new year than I did in 2015.
I love the challenges and always sign up for a lot. Remember that you can use the same book across different challenges. I find it fun to see how one book will fit in the different challenges.

For the first half of the year, I usually put my books in every category they fit in in every yearly challenge and then pair down around September. It just makes it easier to figure out what I need to read next.
2016 will be my first year in this group and I'm really looking forward to it!You have already come up with some great yearly challenges and I'm tempted to participate in all of them, but I think I have to restrain myself a little. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew :-)
