Kaitlyn Santos This week, we are learning about dialogue. We are focusing on what they character says and how the characters say it. One piece of dialogue that I feel is very important to learning about Newt is when he says, (view spoiler)

From this, we learn about Newt. At first, he seems crazy and Thomas is unsure of what to do. However, Newt manages to change his tone. He is able to become sane for long enough to convince Thomas.

Kaitlyn Santos On page 305, when Teresa says, "Just go! Get them out!" From what Teresa says, we can learn about her. She sacrifices herself to save others. Luckily, Teresa ends up living but its the actions and what she says that lets us leave more about her. We learn that she is brave and selfless.

Kaitlyn Santos On page 110, When Dashner writes "Minho looked at thomas, a serious expression on his face, 'If i dont see you on the other side,' he said in a sappy voice, 'remember that I love you.'"
Here we can see that Mihno is sarcastic and tries to lighten the mood is scary situations.

We can learn a lot from quote. We learn that Mihno tries to stay positive and joke around. When he is scared, he tries to distract himself from that fear

Sydney Fader I like how dashner does that because,(after the dialogue she writes how they said it) because then you get tone which is important to the meaning of the dialogue and it also paints a better picture of what is going on in the story. Also it make sit more interesting when there is emotion otherwise the story is bland.

Kaitlyn Santos One quote that I found very important to learning about Teresa is when she says, "'Me...too,' she whispered. 'I only ever...cared for...'" (317) This quote is major to learning about her. From the way she says it, we can tell that she is losing energy and is dying. We can see that she is almost dead and can't even get enough strength to finish her sentence. What she says is super important. We don't know exactly what she was trying to say, so we have to infer. I will continue on this discussion later.

From what I have inferred, I am guessing that her sentence would have been, "I only ever...cared for...you" From this inference, readers can learn a lot about Teresa. We learn that she really did act rude to Thomas in the Scorch to save his life. We also learn that she just wants to keep Thomas alive and safe. And, we also learn that she Thomas is the only person that Teresa really cares for. Her mission was to keep Thomas safe. She sacrifices her life for Thomas because she really cares about him.

Kaitlyn Santos Im not sure of the exact quote at the moment (I will look in my book for it later), but I am finding that when Frypan says that he is going to let them give him his memories back is very important to learning about him. Here, we learn that Frypan is becoming more independent. Instead of agreeing with the others, he makes his own decision. This is important because from this quote we learn that Frypan is developing as a character. I will add more on this topic later.

I have found the quote, it is, "I...think I'm going to let them do it." (33)
From the way that he says this, we can see that he is unsure of himself. From knowing this, we can make the inference that he usually doesn't disagree. Also, we can infer that he isn't an independent character and usually just follows the rest of the gladers.

Kaitlyn Santos I found another quote that is important to learning about Frypan. After Minho says "are you crazy?" and Frypan, "shook his head, bearing himself up a little defensively. 'I want to remember. Make your own choice; let me make mine.'" (33). From this quote, we can learn a lot. From the way Frypan says it (with a defensive tone) we learn that he is becoming more confident and believing in his own decisions. Also, he is becoming his own person and not just following Newt,Mihno, and Thomas around anymore. Also from him talking back to Mihno, we see him become confident.
