Right, it's just that the mobi files always have different numbers of pages to the pdfs so I wasn't sure how it worked :-(
Can't do Linky Patti, but if you go to 'My Book' on the left hand side rightnear the bottom tthere is something called Stats, you can find number of books, no of pages and publication year. Or you could add them all up yourself. I'd use the kindle version then Jim. Different versions of the same book have different pages
I was checking the pages read as part of my challenge, it didn't look right because I thought I should have read more pages than was showing. When I investigated quite a lot of the kindle editions didn't have page numbers included so I am working my way through all my books read to fill in any missing page numbers. This year the stats are not correct yet as they haven't updated for the last books I have marked as read.
You know you can export your book list into an excel spreadsheet and it has loads more invisible categories.

Wow, 181 books. I can't even read 81!
I do have quite a few books on this years challenge that don't have page numbers on here or Amazon, don't know what I'm going to.do with those. Hopefully they'll be boring and I can delete them unfinished!
I've just looked at my spreadsheet and 68 books don't have a page number against them. Not all of those books were long ones. 110 of them are less than 100 pages. The longest being Stealing Elgar which GR says is 652 pages (and Andy says is 530)
So this year (so far) 90 books 26,152 pages
2013 406 books 93,226 pages
2012 320 books 66,723 pages (but haven't finished checking all the page numbers)
These are the books entered on Goodreads - any re-reads are not counted so the true totals are higher. :)
I'm a long way down on last year - just been too busy. But:2012: 77 books - 21,846 pages.
2013: 79 books - 22,666 pages.
2014: 12 books - 3,687 pages.
As with Janet, there are a few re-reads in there which aren't counted, plus a stack of beta reads.

I think you might be our winner, 406 books!!! I'm in awe.
My stats are roughly right, although a few don't have page numbers but...So far this year: 33 books, 8550 pages
2013: 209 books, 55639 pages
2012 (but only half because I joined mid-way through the year): 101 books, 24160 pages
No idea. I think it's a strange thing to want to know! I can't work mine out because I beta read such a lot - and some of those I do two or three times.
I've only done one beta read.I know I do read a lot - I always have. But I watch very little TV - over the last month I have watched a couple of football matches and the programme with Timothy West & Prunella Scales on a canal boat. & half of Pointless which is on when I pop in to see mum on my way home from work.
I think it's really interesting!I'm too lackadaisical about keeping track and I do a fair amount of beta reading and re-reading so my stats won't mean a thing, though.
I'm amazed at how much some of our members read. If only I could stop watching TV and lose my internet addiction!
2014 - 23 books - 5084 pages2013 - 183 books - 50725 pages
2012 - 184 books - 45438 pages
2011 - 104 books - 35127 pages
Wow, I'm amazed by some of these stats. I've done about six books this year. What a lightweight! :-)
I'm like Janet though, I watch very little TV. Although I have not been reading as much as normal either due to being busier than normal and tiring more easily :o)
2014 - 23 books - 8768 pages2013 - 77 books - 29700 pages
2012 - 106 books - 39158 pages
2011 - 30 books - 12376 pages

It is probably some artefact of how the stats work.
106 books is two books a week & I haven't managed anything like that for decades.
I am a fast reader though. I once discovered I normally read faster than the speeds a speed-reading course claimed it could achieve.
Which means I can spend a fortune on books cos I get through them so fast.

Interesting about the speed. Maybe a library would be a good thing
Patti (baconater) wrote: "I used to read a book a day, easy. Then I met the Internet."
How thick are the books you like to read Patti? When I lived at home and read thinner books I could get through a book a day, the school library would only let you take 2 books out at a time so I was there most days! Then a different library on a Sat
Oh, normal sized I guess Desley.Something like a mitchener would take me a couple-three days.
The school librarian waived the limit for me, so I could take out as many as I wished. Was still there most days, though.
We also had a great used book shop that took trade-ins. It was meant to be bring two, get one but they usually let me do bring three, get two.
We also had a fabulous public library. I was also a member of a sci-fi book club that got me a few hardbacks every month.
Oh and yard sales. LOVED yard sales. Books were literately a dime a dozen.
I've still got a basement full of thousands of books back home. Suppose I'll have to do something about that one day.
Desley (Cat fosterer) wrote: "Interesting about the speed. Maybe a library would be a good thing "When I was a kid I ran out of books to read in the Children's part of our village library, so they gave me tickets for the adult section.
Later when I was unemployed for a while I used both mine and the wife's library tickets.
My library used to let me take 8 books out at a time. I'd renew until I'd finished them, then take them back to change them for another 8.
When I joined the library at first you had three tickets - but one was for a non-fiction book. Later that restriction was removed.

I am curious as to who our most prolific reader is by number of pages read (although curious about number of books read too).
2012 - 25,120 (99 books)
In 2013, I managed 11,208 (42)
So far this year I have managed 3226 (12 so far), so should be able to beat last years target.
What about everyone else?
