Terri Bruce (terribruce) | 56 comments I'm not sure I'm putting this in the right place/folder...if it's in the wrong place, bop me on the head and put me in a time out! :-)

NetGalley is a service that connects books and reviewers. Publishers and authors pay a fee to post their book(s) there - and the fee is quite steep for self-published/independent authors and small presses. I belong to a non-profit organization called Broad Universe (which supports women writers of speculative fiction) that is now offering access to NetGalley for $45 per book per month. There's no restriction on genre of the book, gender of the author, or publication date (you can use it for your back list as well as upcoming books). All of the information and the application is available at http://www.BroadUniverse.org.

Donna Barker (donnabarker) That's an a amazing offer, Terri. Is it time-limited?

No, it's ongoing/no time limit. However, slots for each month are limited, so it's best to sign up for your preferred month as early as possible (there's no restriction on how soon an author can sign up for any given month. Someone could sign up for December 2016 now, if they wanted :-) ).

Donna Barker (donnabarker) Great to know! I was hoping for January 2016 and would have waited. Thanks!

T.H. Hernandez (thhernandez) This is great. Thank you so much. Indie authors need something like this.

Patricia Reding | 5 comments This is great information. I wanted to mention that the link has an extra "w" and so, won't work. I believe the correct one is http://broaduniverse.org.

Ooops, good catch Patricia! I've fixed it! Thanks!

Terri, I tried to set this up but the forced dates for when an author wants the review to appear on Netgalley has dates in 2015, but none in 2016. Suggestion?

Oops, my crew is falling down on the job! We'll get the application updated asap. I'll let you know when it's done. Sorry about that!

Terri Bruce (terribruce) | 56 comments Okay the form is fixed now (we took the year off). Sorry about that!

Justin (justinbienvenue) | 792 comments This is good to know. I thought I was crazy in thinking NetGalley issued a fee to self published authors but I remember talking to a woman who works for them 2 years ago. and she gave me a hefty price quote and I kindly declined and moved on.

Definitely not crazy :-)

Terri Bruce (terribruce) | 56 comments An update...

I've compiled some best practices for using NetGalley, culled from Broad Universe's 2 years of posting books to NG (disclaimer: I belong to Broad Universe and head the committee that manages BU's NetGalley account). The article is titled, "Making the Most of Your Time on Netgalley" and can be found on the BU website at: http://broaduniverseorg.dreamhosters....

Semi-annually BU also compiles and analyzes the statistics on the results of posting books to NetGalley. The 2015 analysis just came out and that can be found here: http://broaduniverseorg.dreamhosters....

I hope the information is informative and helpful!
