The book that started it all.... I think that enough of us are Potterheads to say we can talk about movies and books here.

Oh my god!! Harry Potter. I read it when I was like eight and fell in love with it. I was completely OBSESSED!! I love the entire series!
Yeah obviously I'm not going to comment on every Harry Potter book but I love the series so much! I literally think I've read them all at least 5 times! I just think JK Rowling is a fantastic author and if she had written current YA books like THG or divergent they could've been better (that's just my opinion. Yes, the writing style makes those books unique but I would love to see her write a very YA book soon!) I read the Cuckoo's Calling and that was fantastic too!I love the movies too! They did a really great job and I'm excited for the new movies!
Me too! And I understand you guys maybe I'll make this a general Harry Potter thread instead. :)I first read them when I was about 11...and then got a HUGE obssession.
Wow. Even that word doesn't sum up my feelings for Harry Potter. I honestly love that series and i was really sad that jk rowling stopped at 7 books .But.. i have a confession to make...something im not proud of...I haven't read the last book :/
omg Teresa! Aren't you dying to know what happens? Or has it all been spoiled for you? Don't you want to know how it all ends???
no it's alright ..I feel the same way..it would be abnormal not to feel that way about Harry potter and the homeless one who should not be named :P
I think I've read the series about seven times. But I was like nine or ten then. I've got a long list of books to read at the moment but I'm determined to read Harry Potter again.
yeah, I was told to stop reading it by my Grade 6 teacher and I went outside and cried and my class came and comforted me and told me to read it however many times I like. :D Nicest grade. :')And yeah I've read it about 10 times I think but I haven't read it for a while...so many other books to read!
I love the series, it's soooo amazing!Since this is a Harry Potter thread I assume I should put my question here...
Who is a better fatherly figure for Harry, Sirius or Lupin?
I love them both HEAPS! They're my 2 favourite characters and I just can't decide who is best for Harry.
Not sure... Sirius would be good for harry cuz he can care for him but them together they mite do some pretty reckless things but lupin mite end up being too strict or depressed idk... A mix of them would be good!:)
Surprisingly, i only started reading the hp series only this year! I'm currently in the 6th book! Almost done with it. I have never been attached to a book series this much! I don't know what will happen to me if i finish it...
I heard a rumor that they're coming our with a Harry Potter spinoff. I don't know if it'll be a book series or movie series. Is this true?
Yeah just the one movie. It's based on the life of Newt Scaramander who goes around looking for awesome wizard world beasts/creatures. It's set about 70 yrs (I think) before Harry Potter's time.
But there are maybe going to be two other Harry Potter movies (separate to Fantastic Beasts) called quidditch through the ages and the tales of Beedle the bard.
Yeah I think that's what they mean by 'trilogy' I believe that those three books were always considered a 'trilogy' Yeah I can't wait for them to come out! Pity it'll be in a couple of years or so :(
Definitely really excited for the new movie series! I hope it's worth the wait...considering Rowling is taking a role in it.
Absolutely so excited for the new trilogy that Rowling's is doing! Harry Potter has been there for me through thick and thin. Since I was 3 and saw the first movie I was obsessed. I collect EVERYTHING Harry Potter.
I just hope that the new trilogy isn't a let down to how amazing Harry Potter already is!
I cannot explain my love for this series. This is a series that will always be there no matter what and no matter how many times you read it will always be an adventure.
I agree with you 100% although there are amazing books written by Cassandra Clare and Veronica Roth. We can't forget about them...
Eh, if you're referring to Divergent, then I'm not too sure, it's not great. I'm dying to read Mortal Instruments. And if we're naming amazing authors, you've got to add John Green and Malorie Blackman (not in any particular order). They're AMAZING!!
Getting back on topic, who's your favorite Harry Potter character? Mine is Hermione!Think about it, she gets to kick butt with all the boys and there aren't many strong female characters these days! My second favorite is Luna Lovegood because of how quirky she is!
My favourite characters are Fred and George Weasley (due to how funny and witty they are) actually I love all the weasley's! It's so hard to chooseAlso Hermione ( GIRL POWER) she has brains, which is so amazing I think. Though she still stands her ground with the boys. Especially when she punched Malfoy in the face in - Chamber of Secrets.. That was awesome!
Then it would be Luna, she is so weird and different. Though she doesn't care what people think. Which is such an amazing trait!
I JUST LOVE HARRY POTTER SO MUCH!!
It is my bible, I don't know what my life would be like without it. It has helped me through hard times, sad times, happy times and stressful times.
'Hogwarts is always there to welcome you home'
Hi guys, I'm Gabriela and I'm new here. I'm re-reading the HP series for like, the seventh time and I still surprise myself with a lot of things that would be só amazong on the movies but they added. What was your favorite thing on the books that didn't appered on the movies? Mine I think that was the scene where Professor McGonagal telling Harry to way the cookie afete calling Umbridge a liar LOL.
Gabriela,If have to say there are heaps so I'll order my top 4.
1. The bit where harry runs into Neville at the hospital when he's visiting his parents and then pockets the lolly wrapper from his mum. That was so sad :'(
2. Harry, Sirius and Dumbledore in Dumbledores office after Cedric is killed
3.And the bit where Harry tries to contact Sirius through the mirror after he dies and then he smashes it
4. When Harry throws a Potter Stinks badge at Ron when they're fighting about the Triwizard Tournament.
My favourite Harry Potter scene's are:1. When Harry first see's Diagon Alley!
2. In 'The Prisoner of Azkaban' - when Harry finds out Serious is his god father, and he didn't help Voldermort.
3. When Harry first see's the Weasley's amazing house!!
Oh there are so many more! I just love it all!!!
Wow.. it's really hard to pick some favourite scenes because the Books are so amazing ! Cant count how much i read it already..1 - When Harry first sees the Weasley House.. it's just amazing because we see for the first time how a Wizard Family lives at home with the help of magic and everyone is so happy at that time..
2 - In the Prisoner of Azkaban when they use Hermiones Time turner and everything starts to fit together
3 - When Sirius asks Harry if he wants to live with him (so sad that they never had the chance..)
4 - When we find everything out about Sirius
My list could go on forever :D
I think my top 4 are:1 - When they find out about Sirius. The hole in in the book is amazing.
2- The first kiss of Harry and Ginny. And the first kiss of Rony and Mione. The kisses on the movies are só blarg --'
3 - The time when the trio and The twins fight with Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle on the last pages of Goblet of fire.
4 - The time when Molly see Her family Dead as Lupin come and save her. Just the thought of Rony Dead on the floor was too much for me. It would be fantastic to watch this scene.
This are one of te many many scenes that I love plus the scene of the cookie thing lol :D
I'm not trying to sound vindictive, but my personal favorite scene is where Hermione punches Malfoy, simply because I don't like him! Love the way Tom Felton played him in the movies, though!
Hi Guys, I am quite new here too!1) I have to say, one of my favourite parts was when Harry and Ginny kiss in the room of requirement - a little secret between the two. I also love it when they kiss after the quidditch match is won and There is that split second of doubt when harry looks at Ron.
2) I love it when Dobby turns up at Privet drive and starts hitting himself on the head for disrespecting the malfoys, bless him.
3) when Harry thinks that he is walking to his death, and talks to all his favourite dead people (even his parents, whom he never truly spoke to)
4) When Aberforth rescues the three as they turn up after hours and set off the alarm - Neville seeing them and bringing them back to the room of requirement and harry can see all his support!
5) finally, in all of the films I love the moment when harry and ginny are kissing before the wedding and George comes, with a toothbrush stuck in his ear, and a mug of coffee, and says Mooooorning!
What was your least favourite moment in any of the books?
