Sandi wrote: "Go ahead and add my votes for Boneshaker and The Warded Man. I just got those books these weekend. And again, thanks for taking this on!"I added them. And you're welcome :) Once I figured out how I was going to track them things started going pretty smooth. So far. So it really hasn't been too bad and I don't mind.
Sarah, please include my vote for Wool Omnibus by Hugh Howey as well. I should have put it down as it has been on my list to finish for a while. Thanks!
Also. Sarah, thank you and everyone who has been working on keeping all this business straight for all of us. Your efforts will make our experiences in the coming year even better as we get the solid foundations laid as we are working on them. Makes me excited a bit. Thanks also to all both this year and in the past who have done these moderated discussions of side-reads Makes it easier to catch up on things we haven't read yet!Appreciatively.
Richard
You're welcome. We can't let Michael's side-project derail during his sabbatical. That would be unkind. Also, I want to read the books ;)
Hi! I'm pretty new to the forum. So, I dunno if I'm doing this right. But, here the list of books that I definitely want to read in 2016:1. The Three-Body Problem
2. The Rook
3. Embassytown
4. Oryx and Crake
5. The Windup Girl
6. The Quantum Thief
Added your votes Barry, and welcome to our little side group :) I have to say that I'm quite envious of people who will be reading Embassytown for the first time this year. It's such a brilliant book and I've never in my life cared so very much about the difference between a simile and a metaphor. The audio is especially good, although I listened and read at the same time because it was an extra special book and I liked the immersion.
In no particular order, here are some that Id be willing to jump into a reading of:A Scanner Darkly
A Night in the Lonesome October
The Anubis Gates
The Day of the Triffids
The Speed of Dark
The Sparrow
The Princess Bride
Wild Seed
The Algebraist
Maggie, I think you don't realize that if you don't put Those Who Hunt the Night on your list "Bad Sarah" won't add the rest of your books.I particularly suggest that people vote for Those Who Hunt the Night
My list:In the Night Garden
Station Eleven
Island of Dr. Moreau
Ancillary Justice
Zoo City
Embassytown
Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales
Little, Big
The Disposessed
Dune
Slaughterhouse Five
:)
I didn't even remember that that book was in there! Then it popped up a couple of times and I had the same reaction, Maggie. Minus the tyranny :)
Here's my list:1. The Golem and the Jinni
2. Cat's Cradle
3. Good Omens
4. The Color of Magic
5. Ancillary Justice
6. The Gunslinger
7. Stranger in a Strange Land
8. Furies of Calderon

Me too :) There's so much on here that I want to read. I'm trying to figure out how to read them all.
I'll remove my vote from The Last Unicorn, as I'm currently reading it and will finish it this year.
Sarah wrote: "Me too :) There's so much on here that I want to read. I'm trying to figure out how to read them all."All you can do is start a list and begin at the top. My TBR list on goodreads is 32 books long. Figure it will last me most of the year.
Maarit wrote: "I'll remove my vote from The Last Unicorn, as I'm currently reading it and will finish it this year."Got it. Is it any good?
Jason wrote: "His Majesty's Dragon.Ancillary Justice"
I added your vote to these. I'm also adding my vote to Assassin's Apprentice.
There's a few more I might join in with if they get enough interest. As if I need any more books on my TBR schedule.
Let's try a new scifi-heavy list next year:1. Red Rising
2. Flowers for Algernon
3. City of Stairs
4. Ancillary Justice
5. Rendezvous with Rama
6. The Final Empire
7. The Windup Girl
8. Fuzzy Nation
9. Hyperion
10. The Graveyard Book

It's been a nice read so far, but since I'm only less than 100 pages in it I can't say anything for sure about the story and how it will go. But for a (mythical) horse book, it's interesting enough, as I generally don't like horses in any form.
Maarit wrote: "But for a (mythical) horse book, it's interesting enough, as I generally don't like horses in any form. ..."Not even The Black Stallion? :O
lol. Disneyworld is all that - but it also has plenty of downtime while waiting for buses, rides, and shows so...I think the list is to the point where the 5 star books will reign. There are 22 of them so far with 12 fantasies and 10 scifi. The breakdown male/female is also almost even at 40/60 (almost even at least for our book list).
With all that, I would like to go ahead and add The Speed of Dark to my gigantic TBR list. My daughter just brought it home. (and it moves one more scifi book possibly into the list)
Is it too late to add books to the list? I would argue for THE EMPEROR'S BLADES by Brian Staveley (epic fantasy) and THE LAST POLICEMAN by Ben Winters (pre-apocalyptic scifi/mystery hybrid).
This thread is actually for organizing the reading of books off the group's bookshelf. It ties in with the Read All the Books! challenge that the group does. I'd be happy to take votes for anything on the shelf, though.

Haven't read that one. The only horse book I've ever read is Black Beauty and I didn't like it at all mostly because I was forced to read it by my aunt when I was a kid, simply because my choice of the Alfred Hitchcock and The Three Investigators series book wasn't for her likening. After that I have not given horse books any chances until now, but I hope that almost 20 years of not liking them will cease after this one.
I am in for:The Algebraist
The Windup Girl (I've been meaning to read this forever)
The Golem and the Jinni
To Say Nothing of the Dog
The Lions of Al-Rassan,
Good Omens (another one with seniority on the TBR list)
Perdido Street Station
Tigana
The Graveyard Book
The Word for World is Forest
Doomsday Book
Weaveworld
Swords and Deviltry

I remember being kind of in the middle on Black Beauty. The Black Stallion series I devoured. I hope you enjoy The Last Unicorn :)
