On page 65, it is said that Gatsby has killed a man who had found out that he was a nephew of von Hindenburg. This is clearly a lie and an extension of what was said about Gatsby being a spy last chapter. Will lies continue to be made up and then added on to for the rest of this novel?

No, they are just an example of how 'town gossip' --about any outsider-- tends to run rampant, grows to absurd proportionsThe key thing to remember is that Gatsby is not a crook.
And it demonstrates that Jay's rise to riches and his implausible explanations as to his wealth have given to wild speculation. Don't forget that Nick lays out Jay's deceit with his private eye's investigations.
