I love this book. Every time I read it, I am moved by the relationship between George and Lennie. Steinbeck also allows us to see the inner workings of Slim, Crooks, and Candy. While this is a quick read, my mind slows down as I imagine the different characters as they reveal their own life stories. My heart always aches for George at the end.
I read and loved Of Mice and Men at school. It'll be interesting to read it again from an adult frame of reference :)
I'm in the minority, I truly despise this book and the accompanying movie. It makes me entirely uncomfortable and I don't like the way Lennie is written, nor do I like the outcome. I really don't like the writing style either. I find it slow and difficult to get through.
Just managed to read this as my last book of the year. Last read many years ago and I'd forgotten how powerful and sad it is. I do agree with Kerry that it makes uncomfortable reading in some ways but I thinks that reflects the time in which it was written.
I liked the book, had to see the movie in high school in US Literature class. It is very sad on what happens to George, and the way he is treated by others is even worse. He plays with a mouse, that he kills at the end, so that leads to the title. This book is similar to Flowers for Algernon.
I agree about Flowers for Algernon. I read it in high school, but just seeing the title brings back the emotions I felt way back then.

Things to consider:
1. Did you like the book?
2. Did you like or dislike the main characters?
3. Do the characters develop?
4. What did you think of the plot and the ending of the story?
5. Do you have any particular favourite quotes or scenes?
6. Would you read anything else by this author?
