Poll: when would you like to start?

I created a poll just to see what the majority prefers, but I'll open the threads soon and they'll stay open so everyone can post their thoughts while reading at their own time.

It seems there are two solid groups forming. One starting in December and other in January!

I'll be starting in December so I can lead and follow discussions with the first group and, of course, will also contribute once the folks starting their read in January joins!

Hi Renato - thank you very much for inviting me into another lovely reading group !!! I will be reading along with you and will start with you in December . I am at present in the group Bright Young Things which is basically the Modernists writers. Therefore , following with this post modern elite novel will be a great edition to continue in my journey through literature greats . I will read what you have planned so far and be in touch . I am really enjoying Powell's Dance right now . It is quite the classic . I am sorry I have not spoken much in conversations about the reading selections but I am a fast reader and I am afraid I have cheated and gone ahead in our reading schedule of The Dance so I can also read Powell's memoirs . I am happy you and Sue have teamed up together to moderate the group because I am fond of you both ! You both are very intelligent and witty !
Let me know if I need to do more like introduce myself or something !

Enjoy Allen. I took over a year reading Against the Day but I did read slowly and with many other books along the way. Quite an amazing reading experience.

And re: Against the Day, I didn’t use any outside sources. Didn’t really know about them to be honest. So I’m sure I missed a lot but I guess I got a “novice’s” read.

Yes, Sue, IMA long-time Joycean and go deep into the stories, and Pynchon I've been reading for decades, as well; in fact, we just group read GR last year, from Oct-to-Yr's end, a reread for me, but 20 yr's ago we didn't have GR/Pynchon Wiki internet help at our fingertips, so it's great! Already on Two Iceland Spar and so far so good (that "light particle" and lights "ability to communicate" is TRIPPY but, as you said, "I'm ready for it..." Do you remember the story, "Two Galliants" or "Grace" from Dubliners? Do you watch YouTube very often?

I really don’t use You Tube much, mostly to watch music clips from bands or artists I like. I know it has much more than that now but I haven’t really gotten into it. Guess I should learn more about it.

Is this still the free part of YouTube that your dealing with?

I really can’t remember the stories from The Dubliners which shows how long it’s been since I read it. I read Ulysses with a group here at GR a few years ago as well as Elliman’s biography.

I loved the use of light in Against the Day. When I wrote my review, I believe I took that as one if not the central theme and also metaphor of the book. Have you read Mason Dixon. That was my first Pynchon. So I have read 2 within the past 3 or 4 years. Not sure when I will tackle him again especially since I have so many other books to read. I might pick one of his shorter books !
