What do you think will happen to/regarding Arobynn over the course of the series? Do you think he'll live or die in the end? Comment below!

message 2: by Georgina (new)

Georgina (chameleoninfinity_cam) I think he will die in a final battle of just him and caleana in hand-to-hand or sword combat, it's what I hope anyway :)

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

YES PLEASE. I HATE HIM WITH PASSION.

message 4: by Kaina (new)

Kaina (kainal) | 30 comments I know for sure that there will be come sort of showdown between him and Celeana (which I am eagerly anticipating) but am kind of thinking that he will be a vital part of future books.

SPOILER ALERT

Seeing as he most likely has Celeana's necklace I'm guessing that he knows more than Maas is letting on. Everything is WAY too coincidental and that scene in Heir of Fire when a man comes in to finish killing off Celeana? I think that was Arobynn, I think he was the one who killed her parents and family O_O

Yeah I've thought about it too. But then wouldn't it mean that he was working for the king. And if Arobynn was working for the king then why did he take Aelin in instead of finishing the job. And he might have also given the necklace to the king if he was working for him! I think it's really odd how the king of adarlan does not recognise Celaena. I mean so far not even one person has. It's weird because Aedion has been to the castle many times. Don't they think she looks familiar.

Maybe Arobynn has his own agenda? Perhaps the king only hired him for that one job. I find it weird that quite some emphasize has been placed on the fact that he did everything in his power for Celeana to hate her heritage *theories go crazy* Also, how did he find out about what she was in the first place? I don't remember whether she says that she told him in Throne of Glass. But really whats been nagging at me is; why take off the necklace in the first place and never return it or mention it? And yes it really is odd that no one has recognized her! I would think that the king would find her vaguely familiar at least since he saw her when she was young ( I mean aren't her color eyes suppose to be rare or something?) Especially since he works closely with Aedion who's she's bound to have some sort of resemblance to

message 7: by Alia (last edited Jul 14, 2014 08:05PM) (new)

Alia | 76 comments I think Arobynn recognised her when he found her by the river. What i don't know is how he knows what the necklace is. There is a chance that he just thought it was an expensive heirloom and decides to sell it but later on finds out its even more? I think Arobynn used the necklace to get his fortune. Celaena has mentioned how the King of Assassin's wealth is bottomless. Maybe thats why? And yeah Aedion and Aelin are supposed to be super creepy alike. I've always wondered why the eyes don't give it away. Maybe the King hasn't been in close enough contact with her to see their colour. I have sometimes wondered if he knows who Celaena is. But then if he did i don't think he would have sent her to Wendlyn.

message 8: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (dalandanielle) | 233 comments I think (and hope) Arobynn doesn't know what that necklace means...

message 9: by Alia (new)

Alia | 76 comments Yeah but I also hope that he's kept it or else we will probably have to go on a crazy treasure hunt around Erilea

message 10: by Kaina (new)

Kaina (kainal) | 30 comments I think Arobynn had his wealth well before he met Celeana, I mean he is the King of Assassins. And if he did recognize the necklace as a family heirloom, or Celeana for that matter, don't you think he would have made much more money (if that was indeed his intention) by selling out the last living heir to the throne of Terrasan to the king or some other willing buyer? If wealth was his intention all along why invest so much in Celeana's training to make her the absolute best? Why give her the weapons to defend herself? Why not in all those years that he knew her true identity, sell her out to the king or tell someone else what she truly was? I remember in one of the books that someone told Celeana that it was fate or destiny or something for her to learn the ways to defend herself. Makes you wonder if Arobynn will have a much bigger role in future books....

Alia | 76 comments Kaina wrote: "I think Arobynn had his wealth well before he met Celeana, I mean he is the King of Assassins. And if he did recognize the necklace as a family heirloom, or Celeana for that matter, don't you think..."
True. But then what is Arobynn up to ? Why train a princess to be an assassin? Not just any assassin but the most deadliest one. He must have had something planned for her. But if he did then why betray her and land her in Endovier? Maybe he was just punishing her and planned to break her out after some time but didn't get the chance because Dorian got her out first.

message 12: by Kaina (new)

Kaina (kainal) | 30 comments Thats exactly what I was thinking! Im re reading Heir of Fire right now and Chaol talks about it he says something along the lines that Arobynn must have planned on retrieving her at some point that way shed be his ever loyal servant. Also in the novellas its obvious that he could have broken her out of the wagon that was taking her to Endovier but decided not to, probably to have her broken and shed have no choice but to go back to him.

message 13: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (dalandanielle) | 233 comments Arobynn said that he doesn't want to share what's his and that's the reason for all he has done. If he recognizes Celaena, when he saved her then he wants to be part of 'victory' thus the reason of training her all too well. Arobynn in my perspective does not love wealth (or wealth only) he loves to be the center of attraction, to be powerful. *HoF spoiler alert!*

That is why I hope he doesn't recognize the necklace or found out about it or sold it to the highest bidder.

message 14: by Kaina (new)

Kaina (kainal) | 30 comments HOF Spoiler

I think while he doesnt know the full story behind the necklace he does know something. If he didnt why take it off in the first place? Why not give it back to Celeana or mention it at all?

message 15: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (dalandanielle) | 233 comments Someone reminded me that Arobynn did asked Celaena if she ever told Sam her past.. That would mean he knows, right?

message 16: by Kaina (new)

Kaina (kainal) | 30 comments Yes. I cant remember whether Celeana said if she told him everything when he found her or not. But I do remember that she said that Arobynn did everything in his power for her to hate her heritage and wouldnt allow her to return to Terresan, not that that would stop her of course

message 17: by Alia (new)

Alia | 76 comments Yes i remember Arobynn asking her that too! Do you think Sam knew or suspected something about Celaena's past. I mean it seems like he never asked.

message 18: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (dalandanielle) | 233 comments Sam never asked because he believed that Celaena will tell him when she's ready to tell her secrets. Arobynn also asked Sam, right? I can't really if she was present there but Arobynn asked Sam if he ever wondered who Celaena really is.

message 19: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (dalandanielle) | 233 comments A conversation between Sam and Celaena from Assassin and the Empire:

"... He also told me to ask about what really happened before he found you half-dead on that riverbank when we were children.” Sam leaned forward, bracing a hand on the floor as he brought his face close to hers. “And you know what I told him?” His breath was hot on her mouth. “That I didn’t care. But he just kept trying to bait me, to make me not trust you. So after he walked away, I went right to the docks and found the first ship that would take us away from this damned continent. Away from him, because even though we’re out of the Guild, he will never leave us alone.”

She swallowed hard. “He said those things to you? About … about where I came from?”

Sam must have seen something like fear in her eyes, because he suddenly shook his head, his shoulders slumping. “Celaena, when you’re good and ready to tell me the truth, you’ll do it. And no matter what it is, when that day comes, I’ll be honored that you trust me enough to do so. But until then, it’s not my business, and it’s not Arobynn’s business. It’s not anyone’s business but your own.”

So, first, can I just say that I love Sam? Like if it never happened I would love Celaena and Sam to be together.
So I guess that Arobynn really uses Celaena's past as a bait to blackmail her into going back to him...

message 20: by Alia (new)

Alia | 76 comments Awhhh Sammmm!*sobs into pillow*
I love him so much. The reason why I like him a bit better than Chaol is because Sam was without a doubt loyal to Celaena.

Anum | 61 comments Danielle wrote: "Someone reminded me that Arobynn did asked Celaena if she ever told Sam her past.. That would mean he knows, right?"

Arobynn knew about Celaenas past..but Sam didnt..and Celaena was waiting for the right time to tell him everything about herself...

I'm SO excited for that whole confrontation/showdown between the two of them. I have no doubt that Celeana will have questions and we'll get them answered.

Hannah | 83 comments AELIN WILL KILL HIM IN THE MOST GRUESOME WAY POSSIBLE!!!!! XD

Actually I don't know what I choose as his fate!

message 26: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 83 comments I feel like Arobynn has hired by the king to kill Aelins family and was waiting for Aelin to show up somewhere so he could take her to the assassins keep. He trained her to be the greatest Assassin and eventually be wanted everywhere. He planned to kill off Sam so she would eventually snap and get caught. The king gave him the money and had her sent to the mines. But he didn't expect that Dorian would bail her out so his plan flopped. The king new that Celaena was Aelin but kept it secret and closely observed her plans. But Arobynn never excepted her to win the competition either!! So I feel like he went ahead and convinced Nehemiah -

SPOIL ALERT!!!!

-to eventually plan to et killed so Aelin would snap again and have something bad happen to her. He hired Grave to kill Nehemiah. I feel like Arobynn knew she was a Fae and he wanted her to show at least some sign of magic and get caught. Also he had something to do with the Albino demon thing that would take Chaol into that portal. I also feel like Arobynn had Archer Finn come to The kingdom so he could convince her to do something! Since Archer trained with Celaena in the Assassins Keep and she always flirted with him! Seeming that Archer had something to do with Chaol being kidnapped in CoM. It seems Arobynn wants to take all Aelins loved ones away from her to have no other protection than herself.

message 27: by Lexie (new)

Lexie @Hannah hmm, that's interesting. I agree that Arobynn's might possibly have something to do with Archer Finn and Nehemia and Grave and all that happened with that, but I don't think Arobynn is working with the king. Though I do think that the king knew who Celaena was all along, and was just taking advantage of her because it was clear that at first she didn't want to become Aelin. As for who killed Aelin's family I honestly don't know, I thought it might've been the king himself. Oh well I guess we'll just have to wait, read and find out. But when Aelin finds Arobynn... Oooooooh damn.

message 28: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (TigeroftheTowerGuard) | 356 comments Arobynn had Sam killed because he wanted Celaena for himself. He was planning to rescue her from being executed but the King sent her to Endovier. He and Rourke Farran talked about it at the end of The Assassin and the Empire.

message 29: by Saira (new)

Saira | 3 comments I think that Chaol will be the one to kill him, like he'll just be about to kill Celaena and then he'll be there, just like with Cain.Really want that to happen.

message 37: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) I feel like there must be something that Arobynn has been keeping from us. I mean, he can't be so evil, can he?

message 38: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I do hope we get to find out more about him, all the reasons for his motives, but I still reckon Arobynn will die.

message 39: by Diane (new)

Diane (mystifiedswift) Hey Jamie... I feel ya

message 40: by Anastazja (new)

Anastazja Szymańska | 10 comments Arobynn's character always intrigued me. I think he is one of the most complex characters in the ToG series, I hope he'll be around in ghost form or something

message 41: by Diane (new)

Diane (mystifiedswift) I hate when dead characters are around in ghost form. It's so creepy... To the character that they're bothering that is

message 42: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Yeah I agree that Arobynn was pretty cool and intriguing, but I definitely don't want him around in ghost form or something. Maybe haunting Aelin's dreams for a bit but otherwise, he's gone.

message 43: by Xoxoasia (new)

Xoxoasia | 97 comments Aelin, as we all know, is a strong character. I highly doubt she'll have nightmares of Arobynn.

to be honest I didn't think that Aelin would actually let someone else kill Arobynn. I figured she would do anything to have the honor of making him suffer like he did Sam herself. I just can't believe that she actually let Lysandra murder him. I'm still ecstatic that he's dead though.

I was so hoping to see them fight. But imagine if Lysandra had been able to face with her powers back! That would be intriguing too. Frankly, i want to see every one of Aelin's magical allies take Arobynn on. Let's see the King of Assassins deal with different attacks!
