ABANDONED. Fantasy (comedy?) series... Set in modern day. Keepers or guardians of something?

Read in 2008/9 I don't think it was the first in the series. About a group of people with special powers (which may have been granted by stones/ jewels or rings (something like that?! They might have been called keepers or guardians??).

I believe one was a bodybuilder. Near the beginning they travelled in an RV to a small town (in America?) and there was a pub where all the men were murdering their wives.

I think they ended up time travelling to ancient times England? Don't really remember but I know one of the group ended up killing one of the others to get their power thing. I also remember the book blurb having a review saying author wasnt afraid to kill off main characters... Which was true!

I wish I remembered more... But I remember it being funny and really enjoying it. I hope someone can help as I would love to re read! Thank you
