I think it portrays The Sparrow as way more depressing than it really is, which is granted a very depressing book, but one that seems to have a hope for healing/grace/recovery underlying it, and is in the end only the first half of a larger story. Also I find it odd that Br. Guy, a cool dude (and awesome astronomer/ theoretical alien theologian), hates the novel so. Oh well. I guess if one is a Jesuit, portrayals of Jesuits are more likely to rankle if a bit off.
