Writers, are you full time or part time

So the answer to your questions are no, I am neither a part-time nor full-time writer and, as you can see, my royalties definitely do not pay the bills. Fortunately, I have been comfortably retired since June of 2001, so money is not an issue.
Prioritize your time wisely. Write when and where the opportunity presents itself. Nothing worthwhile comes easily. I wish you success in your efforts to become a successful author.
Sad to say, generally only the best-selling authors can pay the bills with their book sales. For the rest, it's write when you can around a day job, family, etc..

i have to free myself in the afternoon instead of taking a nap. it works so far.

Personally, I find that writing first thing in the morning (after eating breakfast, of course) is the best time for me: I'm more lucid, creative, and generally just energetic than later on in the day.
I am a full time writer, by the way, and my writing almost pays the bills, but not quite - but then, I'm an erotica author, and books like that are a bit easier to sell than your average fiction book. ;-)
For the full time workers, when is your best time to write? I just recently changed jobs and am now finding that the time I used to have to "ninja write" while on the clock is gone, and my life is in flux when it comes to free time.
