Cooper In the book Eragon by Christopher Paolini, there are many different types of chracters. Eragon, for instance is Round and Static up to page 75. Saphira is Flat and Dynamic up to page 75.

Please do not spoil, I am on page 75.

Bill Muganda Personally I enjoyed it I want to continue with the following books of Christopher Paolini. The book has received its share of criticism by being compared to big Authors, but I liked it and its one of my all time favorites.

Cooper Do you think that Saphira and Eragon bring out each other's characteristics as foil charachters. Saphira is and calm and collected, while Eragon is irrational, gallant, and extravagant

Andrew Mowere Well, the way that I see it, authors are attracted to plugging their own life theories into their books. It's been years since I read Eragon, but as far as I remember Paolini seemed to believe that people are changed in sudden fits and bursts, especially when it comes to growing up. You can really pinpoint a specific event that sparks a change in his characters almost every time.

Also, I believe the boy and dragon are meant to be each other's yin and yang. Saphira's dragonic and often hidden impulsiveness seems to mirror Eragon's natural state, wheras Eragon does seem to have moments of remarkable calm and clarity, something that Saphira is usually famed for.

Still, I do believe Paolini sees people as ultimately situational, moldable in a very real way. Which is just a life view, nothing wrong or right about it. Then again, Eragon and Saphira both maintain a specific core of empathy, which is in my opinion is a personality trait.

personally, my belief is that people are mallable, situational, and in self control at times. except for one of four traits:

manipulative
logical
impulsive
empathetic

which I think of as permanent cores to how we approach things. The more faithful you remain to your core, the more successful you are at handling life's problems

and that is certainly reflected in my writing, so I assume other writers are the same way.
