In WWII Britain, forty year old Captain Charles Ryder finds himself encamped near Brideshead, recalling his time spent there in years past.

At the age of nineteen, and not long after entering Oxford, Charles meets Sebastian Flyte. Their fast friendship introduces Charles to a new, and exorbitant, lifestyle filled with languid days among Oxford's less desirable elite, and affords him his first glimpse of Brideshead.
