:) I really need to read the sequels for the Knife of Never Letting Go!

I loved the ending to Legend--I thought it tied up enough, but I kind of like things a little open ended so I can imagine what will happen. It does show us what happens 10 years later, which is pretty good for a YA book! The ending actually made me think a little of Harry Potter. Also loved that ending!

I've read the first book and am just about to start the second. I really enjoyed the first book! I love that there are many POVs and stories throughout. If I got bored with one character, there would always be another one soon after. There are some heavy topics though so if you're sensitive, I'd sit this one out-otherwise go for it! :)

I've read books 1 - 4. And part of book 5. I thought book 5 was the last one so when I realized it wasn't I put it down until they all come out. It's seriously the never ending book series. There's no beginning or end. Just a never ending middle. But I must have liked it enough to continue reading them ;-)

I've read the first two books and really enjoyed both of them. They're very long, but the writing isn't too dense so it's not too frustrating to get through. There are also a lot of stories going on at once and it switches around very frequently, so it never really slows down.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments Has anyone read Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life? I picked it up from the library years ago based strictly on the cover and to this day it remains the most beautiful book I've ever read. Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life by Wendy Mass

I've read all the books that are out, they would get a little tedious at times but well worth it! I can't wait til the next one comes out.

Jesse wrote: "Suggestions for this book, I want to read it Masque of the Red Death (Masque of the Red Death, #1) by Bethany Griffin"
I haven't read this, but I've had it on my to-read list for a while. I keep meaning to pick it up.

I talked about that one on the first page--one of my fave dystopian trilogies ever!! Liked it almost as much as The Hunger Games, just a fab trilogy!

Katelyn Broad (katelynb) Divya wrote: "What about Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu, guys? What are your opinions on that?"

I loved Legend, Prodigy, and Champion! One of my favorite series ever!

message 74: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stoolfire | 2047 comments Divya wrote: "What about Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu, guys? What are your opinions on that?"

I gave it a 3/5. I was actually a little disappointed with Legend. I don't think it lived up to its hype...
It felt too slight...and the romance between Day and June just didn't work for me. However, I do think that Prodigy was quite a bit better.
Legend wasn't bad by any means, but it just didn't quite hit the mark. The action scenes were pretty spectacular, though! :)

I haven't had the chance to read Champion yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it all ends.

I agree, I didn't feel like it lived up to they hype either. I had a really hard time connecting to the characters in Legend. I haven't read anymore in the series. Not sure if/when I will.

I actually started to care a little more about Day and June while reading Prodigy...though I wasn't really shaken up by where the ending leaves the characters.

message 77: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 738 comments Legend didn't live up to the hype for me, either, although I thought it was okay. I also read the second book, which I also thought was all right ... but I didn't feel all that compelled to read the third book––although I've heard it's good, so I might still give it a try.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments I looked back at the whole thread and want to jump in on the Maze Runner love. That series was fantastic(even if I did feel each book dipped in quality for me after book one). Also, excited about the movie. And LOVE Dylan O'Brien. I can't really see anyone else as Thomas.

message 79: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments Now, the reason I came here before I got stuck fangirling on D-O'Brien haha.

Has anyone here read The House of Secrets by Chris Columbus and the, tragically, late great Ned Vizzini?

House of Secrets (House of Secrets, #1) by Chris Columbus

The story sounds like something I can get into, but I'd be lying if I said the creators, both who I respect for different reasons, weren't a big time influence on my interest in this series.

The movie preview is actually what finally convinced me I needed to read the book. It was a good read. I'm not sure I haven't decided yet about reading on although I am curious to see what happens next.

I wasn't a huge fan of it either, Heidi. I thought it was okay at the time I read it, then it seemed worse in retrospect ... and I really didn't like the second book. >.<

message 85: by Donna (new)

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments I love Legend, right up there as my favorite all time dystopian series, with Hunger Games. I just can't wait for the movie to come out. I could see and feel and smell those characters.

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments The Maze Runner is fantastic. I found the sequel very good as well. The third book fell flat a little bit.

Legend is one of those rare trilogies where the second one is the best. Great series overall.

I didn't care for the last one either but hope was hoping he left it open like that for more.

Always good to know I am not alone Brigid! I seriously think Chaos Walking really set the bar high for me when I am reading similar books - they have to be excellent to get my vote. I know I read Maze Runner after Chaos because I just read it a year ago or so, so that may have impacted me.

message 90: by Brigid ✩ (new)
