Julie Elise Landry (julieeliselandry) Good morning, everyone!

Earlier this week, I published my first dark fantasy novel, and I'm dipping my toes into the marketing stage. Goodreads has not yet calculated the average rating of my book, and in the rating/review summaries, it says I've not received any ratings or reviews.

I've received two friend ratings and one friend review, along with two community ratings and one community review.

Is there some kind of threshold before GoodReads will display an average rating? Do I need to reach 5 community reviews before being averaged, something like that? What's the deal?

I feel like this should have been an easy thing for me to Google, but none of my searching has pulled up any relevant results.

Help! I'd appreciate some clarity on this issue so I can stop constantly refreshing the page!!

Thanks in advance,
Julie Elise Landry

Someone brought this up the other day in the General Goodreads Questions thread and then they contacted Goodreads about the issue. Apparently it's a bug in the system that Goodreads is trying to work out.

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) Hi Julie. It appears, based in some comments on another thread and the fact that some of us are not seeing any changes in our numbers either, that Goodreads is having a technical issue in which new reviews and ratings are not calculated into the average. Give thwm some time to sort it out. This is not the first time this has happened.

Julie Elise Landry (julieeliselandry) Thank you so much, Dwayne and Christina! I'm honestly relieved -- I thought maybe I'd set up something incorrectly.

I'll hold tight and wait for the issue to be resolved!

(And apologies for posting this in the wrong place, as it turns out!)

Joe Jackson (shoelessauthor) Sometimes when I get a new review, it takes a couple of days before it actually shows under the book's stats.
