Thank you Abii! I did try to make the rules as general as possible to be pretty encompassing to all things that pop up in groups such as these. That being said, if someone is being ugly or not following these rules, please contact me directly and I will handle the issue. Thank you!

Apparently I got a rule 6 hit. It might have been nice if that fact was passed on to me at the time the discussion was erased w/o a trace. Still my bad.

Actually the rules don't cover Rule 7) Always follow the moderators instructions. If a moderator tells you to do something you have to do it.
I apologize for not contacting you directly Phodrick. At the time it wasn't a posted rule. As I mentioned previously, the groups membership has exploded over the past 2 months. I went from managing a group with about 60 people in it for 3 years to suddenly having over 900 people in my group. With greater volume came different situations that I did not previously have to address. I apologize for the confusion and if I offended you. This has been a learning experience for me and I hope you can all bear with me while I continue to learn more.
Just realized the person who wanted to suggest prohibition of some books is named "Abii".... I think it's sad and pathetic there are people out there that just can't let others think and decide for themselves what is or is not offensive....
Ben, I'm not sure what the individual's name has to do with anything but if you'll read the comment, the user who made the statement that I believe you're referring to is actually named Raghav and the comment was 'hateful criticism on books or their author's'. There was no suggestion to prohibit books, just hateful comments. There is a distinction between 'hateful' criticism and actual criticism of a book or author. No one is required to like a book but, as the rules state I'd like people to be kind and welcoming here. I don't at all want to seem like I am saying ' You can't say negative things about a book.' What I mean to say is that you can talk all day about how much you disliked a book without being hateful. I believe that hateful comments would be classified as attacking the author because of their religious or world views, their gender, race or sexuality or a book's subject matter pertaining to any of those things. I strive for this group to be a group of equal opportunity readers and I want everyone here to have a pleasant experience. I hope that cleared everything up. Thank you for your comment.

I don't believe anyone would appreciate gossip about other members of the group in here. However, I have no power over what you discuss in private messages with other group members. Now if you're talking about celebrity gossip and what not, that's totally fine!

1. Treat other members with the respect they deserve.
2. Please do not post threads text in all CAPITALS since this is considered to be shouting and is not necessary.
3. Insulting inflammatory comments or personal attacks against others will be not tolerated.
4. Please be considerate in language you use on the forum, some of our members are younger than others. Swearing is not completely banned, just do not swear unnecessarily, and only use minor words.
5. Please do not post inappropriate material, I think everyone understands what I mean by this. The policy goes that if you would not feel comfortable viewing it at work, or in front of children or parents, don't post it !
6. Please do not add additional threads. I want to keep this group as simple as possible with very little maintenance on my part so that I can run this group as smoothly as I can and in a way that is inclusive to everyone. If there is something you would like to see a thread on that is absolutely not covered anywhere else, please message me directly and I will address it.
I think these rules are clear, and easy to follow. These are only in place to ensure our community is a fun place to be, and a comfortable atmosphere for all.
What happens if a rule is broken?
Depending on the severity of the infraction, a different course of action may be taken, but the usual practice is as follows :
1st rule break (Minor offence) : Corrected, A PM may of been sent, no further action taken
For a more serious offence, a warning will be issued, this is a mark against your name letting me know you have broken a rule
2nd rule break. Another warning
3rd rule break On your 3rd warning, you will receive a temporary ban, the length of which will depend on the severity of the incident.
On another breach of rules : After this it will be assumed you will not learn your lesson, so you will receive a permanent ban, meaning you will never be able to visit the forum again.
If you have any questions regarding the rules feel free to PM me at anytime and I will do my best to quickly and efficiently clear things up!
