Get Mad Here Thread

haha if you'd see how they assemble their chairs, you'd be like my hubby and say GET THE HELL AWAY FROM MY CHAIR! no really, the assembly part was very easy. Makes me wonder why the chairs are always wobbly in the stores. :P

I like to switch it up and add variety once in a while. ;P

Currently the supermarkets don't know if they are doing Halloween, Bonfire Night or Crimbo.
Whatever. The attitude seems to include f**k food. Let's sell shite costumes and fireworks instead. My minuscule store of patience is about worn through.

My kiddo's been going on about Christmas for a month already. I'm over that. What will irritate me is when the music comes on the radio a month and a half early. UGH. And all the trees butchered so people can shove them in their living rooms to slowly watch them die like "Merry Christmas, I'm going to put your presents under this dying plant because...well...tradition."
That's not to say I have a problem with things dying. I'm a meat eater. But there's practical purpose to that. What does anyone really get from hacking down the things that are producing the air we breathe just so they can be placed in homes, be fire hazards, and create a massive nationwide cleanup of dead trees afterward?
And that's what grinds my gears.

We just need to build the trust first. Then, once the readers trust that we can deliver a good story that they want to read with consistency, then they'll be willing to pay the money. It's not instant. (Unfortunately).
I just think of it as playing the long game.
Alex,
It took some digging to find your books, but I found that you have two books, both published about a month ago. Yes? It takes time, a LOT of time, to get noticed. Being an Indie author takes an incredible amount of patience. It is possible you'll reach your goals of success tomorrow, next week, next year. But, it's also possible it could take much longer. Relax and enjoy the ride! AND KEEP WRITING MORE BOOKS!

I share your love of mosquitoes wholeheartedly!! They are bad for humans and bad for dogs!! Can someone explain their purpose if they have one? And I don't want to hear any circle of life shit. There are plenty of other bugs to eat... like flies. Yeah, what about flies? What the hell purpose do they serve? They carry disease, too!! Where the hell did I put that giant can of Raid?

Yeah, some days just suck... Wander over the the Hug thread and the Something Good Happened to Me Today thread. Even if something good didn't happen, you'll feel better. Hugs

haha sorry but I had to laugh at that. I am a bit in the same hot water you are. I have to kill a character. It's an important part of the story. I can't change the outcome because it's some kind of the explanation of why certain things happened and why my protagonist behaved a certain way in an earlier book.
Now, I have been trying to kill her for the last month or so and she is still much alive. Argh Yes I am getting mad!
(And no, it's not really a spoiler, as strange as it may seem.)

haha sorry ..."
Lol, this is a selfish observation but I hope it doesn't take me a month to figure out my plot lol!
My issue is I'm trying to write a sexy, funny erotica/romance novel but a cerain client of my heroine keeps popping up in my head, BEGGING for more screentime. The problem is that he's a serial killer and well, this isn't supposed to be that kind of novel lol.
Let's hope we'll both manage to do what needs to be done G.G! ^_^

There's only supposed to be a few scenes directly involving him so as to limit the chances of the readers ..."
And they always have the BEST lines don't they?

haha yeah, let's hope so! Good luck!
I have to admit that for me it's still not as bad as it looked. I still wrote and that made me realize that it was just not the right timing yet. I think I figured it out and NOW she WILL die! Mwahahhahaha (I feel so mean!!)

The best you can hope for is for them not to yell at you too much.

Actually, that's fantastic! Be excited!

I know, right? And we have another month before it starts to swing the other way.

lol...this is one of my favorite scenes from The Shining lol

Why am I mad? My story idea AND book title were stolen!!!
Okay, so they stole it in 1992, but still... Cheese and Crackers!!!
NOW what do I do?
The details of my story are honestly different enough that I'm not concerned about plagiarism. But the title... the TITLE is incorporated in the poem I wrote to tell the story!! Waaaaaahhhh!!

I'm sorry I forgot go mention WHO stole it... I mean, used it first. : |

Although... may I ask what was the title? It was certainly not Sesame Street because that's much older.

Examples are endless, even classic ones like "Lord of the Rings". It's grossly overused and I've gotten to the point where I reject anything that uses it.
There. I feel better.

But... but I like Oscar the Grouch and don't want to hurt his feelings.

Yes, but he's a grouch. No matter what you do, he'll be grouchy.

Hmm... you have a point there.... : )

I think lady bugs are cute though. I like them! Okay, not when they trigger near heart attacks with their large, loud wings and randomly flying around. BUT....the real problem here are the mosquitos. And those spiders.
One time I was sitting at my computer and one of those too-many-legged demons had the gall to jump down and land on my keyboard.
Let's just say it didn't last long.
Thought I'd share. :)
(ETA: I'm late to the party. Why are we talking about insects and spiders??)

GG's comment is at the top of the page, but there are 600 comments before it. This is the get mad thread. We get mad about a lot of things. I got mad because mosquitoes exist. ;)

Oh okay! I was confused because I assumed at first it had to be writing/book related. :) Carry on then.
So.
From time to time I go back and re-proofread my stuff, right? I just went through George Stew again and found a couple of errors and fixed them. And I went to upload the fixed copy. Amazon would not let me do so until I "fixed" a problem in the info that wasn't broken. Since the story is in the Noah City Stories, they wanted me to put in a number stating which book it is in the series.
I never wanted them to have numbers. They are stand alone stories that are only very loosely connected. I don't want people to feel they have to start with one story and go to the next and the next. I guess I'll have to add that to the blurbs or something.
Criminy.

Dwayne, I had the same problem. I think I put in number '0' and managed to get away with it. I find it so frustrating. Also, not letting books be a part of a series unless it is a full number (so I can't say #0.5) is ridiculous! Novellas are such a common thing. Drives me nuts.

BRAIN. Yes, you, brain. I'm talking to you now. Today and tomorrow are our ONLY DAYS LEFT to finish this draft before Christmas break. You got it? We have NOTHING planned. Nothing. The laundry is done. The housework is done. There are no obligations to any neighbor, teacher, husband, or child. No grocery stores, no errands. There is just you, brain, and the computer. We are not going to distract ourselves all day and then rush our brilliant ideas the last 20 minutes before the school bus comes. Do you hear me? We have HOURS to work today, and I'm tired of your BS. YOU ARE ON, brain. Writer's block is not a phrase in our vocabulary.
Don't #$&%@ this up. Stupid brain.

That is dumb. I realize that when most people talk about a series of books, they do mean something like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, where it is helpful to read the books in a certain order as there is a continuing plot that runs all through them and the characters develop as the series goes on, but not all series of books are like that.

For me, it's the one day out of the year when no one is allowed to judge my gravy consumption. I will not have this taken away from me!
