#42 is another Travis McGee book - The Long Lavender Look, which I have had since 2009 or so... A decent entry in the series. 3*

* means the book is on the Guardian's 1000 Novels Everyone Should Read list
Book #44 is the Japanese novel Silence. While well written, it wasn't really my kind of thing being very much about religion & faith. 2½*
I am almost done with The Age of Doubt, another Inspector Montalbano mystery off my shelf so I am posting now :)After this one is done, only 3 more to go!
later - Done! 4* for this Montalbano :)
Finished paperback #46 -- The Plague by Camus, a book I got last Xmas as a gift. Not as dark or existentialist as I had anticipated! 4*
I am currently reading book #47, The Three Hostages (the 4th book in the Richard Hannay series) & have the next (& last) one picked out -- Cider With Rosie. So it looks like I might make it to the peak after all :-)
Finished my Hannay book -- why did I wait so long to continue this series?? Wonderful adventure/spy-type story (though no actual espionage in this one) -- 4½*
Woo hoo! I have reached the top with my 48th print book -- Cider With Rosie by Laurie Lee. A story of village life in the 1920s - charming but not as good as Lark Rise to Candleford...I am now embarking on Hanging Garden by Ian Rankin - either it will take me a bit above the top or it will be my first for 2017.

I am counting one final book, as it was 90% read in 2016 -- an entry in the Inspector Rebus series, The Hanging Garden. Very good (though dark) 4½*
