Timothy Freriks (timfreriks) | 7 comments Hi! I'm new to the group. I'm the author of six novels and have two in development, but I still have time to read other writers. I'm always looking for good stories to get lost in.
Writing my latest, Three Legs of the Caliphate scared the bejeezus out of me since it is not only feasible but might be happening in the world today. It's about cyber/financial manipulation, political corruption, and Islamic terror.
If anybody has any suggestions about other books in the genre, let me know. If anybody has an interest in reviewing my books, let me know.
Thanks!

Alex Pearl (alexpearl) | 3 comments Hi there,
My name is Alex Pearl. I'm a slightly shambolic and exceptionally short-sighted advertising copywriter. My first attempt at fiction was back in 2011 with a book I wrote initially for my kids. 'Sleeping with the Blackbirds' is a YA urban fantasy, which many adults have seemed to enjoy. If anyone out there would like a free e-copy or paperback to review, please do contact me here or at the book's website: http://sleepingwiththeblackbirds.co.uk
Many thanks in advance,
Alex Pearl

Kimmy Hello,

I am new to the group, and new to publishing. In July I published my first book, a collection of (mostly) humorous essays entitled Pussy Planet and Other Endearing Tales. It is an adult humor book, dealing with everything from parenting to mental health disorders, and is definitely not intended for the easily offended. =) Hit me up if you're not squeamish, and willing to review.

Jennifer Lew | 3 comments Hi all!

I just published my first romantic suspense novel this May, and I'm seeking reviews on amazon and here on goodreads. Set in early 1990's Boston, it is the story of a young woman who sets out to interview a reclusive cancer researcher and stumbles into a murder case that is gripping the entire city. The book is free on kindle unlimited and can be found at https://smarturl.it/RipplesNovel

I was very happy to find this group as I am trying to connect with other writers and learn from them. It's great to feel a sense of community with all of you. Thanks!

Adele Rose (adelerose) | 7 comments Hi,

My name's Adele Rose. I'm new to Goodreads and have just published two ebooks on Amazon. Book One is called 'Awakening' and book two is called 'Possession'. Both books are part of a series called 'The VIth Element Series'.

In terms of genre, both books fall under 'fantasy', 'paranormal' and 'urban' and are aimed at Young Adults.

It's lovely to be able to share my books with readers and I'm always open and looking forward to reviews.

Here is the synopsis of Book One:

‘One person on their own may be able to save the world. But a team of friends, all working together, have a much greater chance of succeeding…providing that no-one succumbs to evil.’

Alex's Checklist:

Being targeted by a 'tangoed' PSYCHOPATH: CHECK!
Having a relationship life that currently SUCKS: CHECK!
Experiencing an 'AWAKENING': CHECK! Wait...what?

Before Alexandra Raven’s ‘AWAKENING’, her life could be summed up in one word – repetitive. Then, BOOM! In a pivotal moment, Alex finds out that she can control the element of water – something that she once thought was fictional and can’t believe her luck. However, is this gift a blessing or a curse? Alex is required to leave her old life behind, including her family and David - the boy who promised to stick by her no matter what and her best friend since she was five. What’s more, danger lurks in another dimension. This danger can only be destroyed through loyalty, perseverance and friendship and will turn Alex’s life, in more ways than one, upside down...

DIVE INTO A WORLD FULL OF FRIENDSHIP, DANGER, LOVE AND BETRAYAL...

Really looking forward to hearing from you,

Best wishes,

Adele Rose

Hi, Luca. I've written six novels in various genres, but I think my latest might interest you. It's the most frightening story I ever wrote: Three Legs of the Caliphate. It's about cyber/financial manipulation (intense IT stuff), political corruption, and Islamic terror. What's scary is that this seems to be happening. I spent 30 years in the software business and spent 18 months researching this.

Let me know if you're interested, and if you'd like, send me something of yours.

Wow, that is really cool! You are very accomplished. Romance novels aren't usually on my read list, but one written by a business economics tax lawyer interests me. Plus I get the added entertainment of looking for idioms that don't translate well to English.

I'm also shocked that English was the 4th language you learned. It seems like it would be most peoples' first or second. 3rd tops. What are these other languages that you chose first?

Passage Oak

PASSAGE OAK, by K.M. del Mara
Amazon link:
https://www.amazon.com/Passage-Oak-Si...

As the 18th century came to an end in Europe, people of all classes were fleeing revolutions and persecution in their native countries and struggling to find a foothold on foreign soil.
Tino, a handsome Italian man, follows cousins to Cornwall and manages to build a thriving business while fishermen and miners go begging for work. Patrick, an Irish smuggler who had barely escaped death at the hands of a religious gang, is lured to Cornwall by another immigrant, the greedy and enigmatic Zephaniah Cobbs. Bianca, a young French woman who goes from riches to rags, helps young Sébastien escape the French Revolution, never predicting the torment he will have to endure as a virtual slave.
But being a foreigner is especially difficult for a bi-racial baby, accidentally sent to the wrong home from a London orphanage. In a community of fair-skinned Cornish girls, she would never truly belong.
Arriving one by one in a tiny, hard-pressed Cornish village, none of these newcomers find much of a welcome. How could the villagers be expected to greet them with open arms when jobs are so hard to come by, when fishermen's nets are coming up empty and more mine workers are laid off every day?
Time must be relied on to bridge some of the gaps. But the work of acceptance, it turns out, rests not only with the Cornish villagers.

Duncan Milne | 2 comments Hi, new to the group and wanting to introduce myself.

I am a non-practicing lawyer in search of a forum where prose doesn’t include the terms “notwithstanding” or “but for.”

Human interactions and social context in all forms intrigue me, providing much of my literary inspiration.

My passion and insatiable appetite for music, art and literature led to my debut novel, The Death of Rock ‘n’ Roll, The Impossibility of Time Travel and Other Lies. The Death of Rock ‘n’ Roll is the first in a four part series. I am pleased to announce that Elm Grove Publishing has now published the second book, And Then They Ruined Everything, available directly from Elm Grove Publishing, Amazon, or on inquiry with your local book store.

In addition to The Death of Rock ‘n’ Roll series of novels, an un-named non-fiction work as well as a novel based in Sydney are presently in development. The novel will continue the exploration of social interactions through the experiences of young professionals trying to reconcile their own ambitions in a world beyond their control. A place where escape from previous choices isn’t always possible.

Taking a step away from fiction, the non-fiction work is aimed at the professional development audience, particularly those seeking ways to maximise the effectiveness of their presentations. This book is based on my successful seminar series, as well as professional experiences during my law practice and as a business consultant and similar to many of my LinkedIn posts.

Currently residing in New Zealand, I am fortunate to be married to someone whose career facilitates travel abroad. It is through travel that gain perspective and insight into human conditions that inspire my writings.

The arts should inspire us to achieve greater compassion and understanding; help us find our voice and articulate what we see around us.

Best in reading!

Peter Upton Hello, I joined about a month ago but have only just found this site!
I have spent 20 years writing 'Candles on The Ganges' and now I just want to make sure I have done my best to bring it to public attention. Told as I journey through India seeking a Rishi to take me to the highest level of meditation, it is, I hope, an inspirational story of the six year spiritual journey I undertook following the death of my son, during which I trained as a medium and found myself being immersed in the mystical/spiritual world that surrounds us all. It is about the illusion we call life and the reality that lies beyond it. It is a book of spiritual growth wrapped up in an enthralling journey through India with my son always present but just out of sight.
It is available as an ebook at amazon kindle and as a paperback at all amazon sites. Thank you. petereupton@outlook.com
