Mrs. Kimberly | 2 comments Hi everyone, I'm Kimberly T. Shyu. I was previously agented and recently decided to self publish my multi-genre novels that have historically been deemed unplaceable because they're a bit of everything: speculative, sci-fi, romance, family saga, literary, thriller, and more. I'm so excited to embark on this journey and would love to connect with like-minded authors and readers!

My work is for readers who love Kazuo Ishiguro, Jennifer Egan, Sarah Pinsker, Taylor Jenkins Reid, Emily St. John Mandel, Ted Chiang, Liu Cixin, Andy Weir, and the like. I recently started a Substack community for 'Unplaceable Fiction' and invite you to join me at https://substack.com/@kimposs1ble.

My first novel is DUSK, set for release on September 5, 2025. DUSK is a high concept, speculative story of a multi-generational family struggling to justify the meaning of life with themes of identity, love, and loss. Told through two points of view in 2034 and 2086, the stories of Theo Stewart and his robotic caretaker focus on Theo’s growth and interrelationships as he discovers himself in his late twenties, then suffers regrets in his dying years. This weaves a nonlinear plot similar to THE THREE-BODY PROBLEM with the dynamic perspectives in THE CANDY HOUSE (but with tighter closure). It will appeal to upmarket readers and fans of the satirical themes in Don’t Look Up.

For my travel blog, self-improvement, and product management articles, check out my work on Medium and LogRocket, or visit www.kimshyu.com.

Sarah Vigue (sarahvigue) | 1 comments Hi,
I'm planning to launch my first ever book (Christian memoir) in November. I will need a launch team. Would you be interested?
Confession: I've not done this before!

Still with me? Ok, well the memoir is a Christian testimony about overcoming trauma (including those with mental illness) with the help of God and some counseling. If that topic interests you and you'd be willing to join the group, please let me know :-)

Expectations: Read a copy of the memoir I send you, post an honest review on Amazon/Goodreads once I get it set up and maybe share some social media posts here and there.

I'm still figuring this out but that seems like a good start to me, what about you?

Blessings,
Sarah Vigue

My name is Amy Decker, though I write under the name Angela Diane. I chose this pen name to honor my late sister, whose life and spirit inspire my stories. Through my writing, I hope to continue her legacy by helping people better cope with or understand mental health challenges.

I’m excited to be here, connect with fellow book lovers, and learn from this community. If anyone enjoys poetry/short stories and would like a free copy in exchange for an honest review, I’d love to share it with you. And of course, I’m happy to support others’ work too.

Mary Perez | 28 comments Hi fellow authors/bloggers/readers!

I am on a quest to get 500 book reviews, and I could use your help!

If you're a fan of Jeannette Walls and Esmeralda Santiago, you'll probably enjoy reading my story. My memoir, When I Was Puerto Rican, meets The Glass Castle.

“Running in Heels: A Memoir of Grit and Grace” is the journey of a coming-of-age Puerto Rican girl seeking love and security with her difficult mother in an impoverished home, who becomes a teenage bride to a ruthless man twice her age. She has her first child at seventeen and her fourth at twenty-two. Can she overcome insurmountable obstacles of poverty, racism, alcoholism, violence, and abandonment while hope is shattered time after time?

I wrote this book to show that, contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be a product of your environment. Your past does not define who you are.

By the way, my memoir is currently being translated into Spanish!

Mark Yu (markyubook) | 1 comments Hi everyone!

I’m Mark Yu — an immigrant investor who landed in the U.S. with two suitcases, a borrowed laptop, and no idea how the system worked.

A few years (and a lot of rejections) later, I’d closed five investment properties before even becoming a U.S. citizen.

My book, How I Bought Five Properties Before Becoming a U.S. Citizen – The Do’s and Don’ts of Building an American Real Estate Empire as a Millennial Migrant, pulls back the curtain on that journey — from the banks that ghosted me to the deals that nearly collapsed, and the creative hacks that finally worked.

Here’s what you’ll discover inside:
• How to buy U.S. real estate legally without a green card or long credit history
• How immigrant families can turn “visa uncertainty” into leverage and motivation
• Why shifting from hustling for rent to hustling for ownership changes everything

I’d love to hear from you:
👉 What’s been your toughest mental or financial barrier to owning property?

I’ll reply to every comment — I’m fascinated by how each of us defines the American Dream in our own way.

I’m Arthur Vale, the author of Coz’ I Love You, a dark mafia romance where love collides with power, secrets, and danger.

I love writing about the messy, passionate side of love — the kind that tests boundaries and hearts. When I’m not writing, I’m usually reading something romantic (with a bit of chaos, of course) or exploring new ways to build believable, emotional worlds for my characters.

I’m looking forward to connecting with fellow readers and writers here — always happy to chat about books, writing, or anything that makes stories unforgettable 💕

Lauren Zoey | 4 comments Hey everyone 👋

I’m really excited (and a little nervous!) to finally introduce myself here. My name’s Lauren Zoey, and I’m a new author exploring two genres I’ve always loved — dystopian fiction and children’s stories.

Writing has always been my safe place, but publishing for the first time was… honestly, a challenge. From formatting to rejections, I almost gave up more than once — but finishing my debut novel Trials of the Unknown: Shattered Paths reminded me why I started in the first place.

It’s a young adult dystopian story about identity, fear, and finding hope when everything feels uncertain — themes that mean a lot to me personally. Alongside that, I also write children’s books that inspire imagination, courage, and kindness. I love blending meaning with creativity, whether it’s helping kids dream or showing teens they’re not alone in their struggles.

I’m really looking forward to learning from other writers here, connecting with readers, and sharing the journey — both the tough and the joyful parts. 💫

If you’re also new to publishing or love stories that dig deep into human emotions, I’d love to connect with you!

– Lauren 💛

I'm Matt, the author of Conquest. I created the series due to my love of fantasy. It started out small but quickly grew into a massive world that feels just as real as Earth. The story has just started, and it's still growing every time I write more. I took inspiration from LOTR, and The Inheritance Cycle. I've been told the story has the same vibes as The Witcher and GOT.

James Hillebrecht | 2 comments Hi Folks,

I'm an old hermit finally coming out of seclusion in an attempt to reach other authors. After 2 decades of using agents to try to break into the established publishing houses, I finally went with Amazon/Kindle and have published some 9 books so far. Six are high fantasy, one is historical fiction (Ancient Egypt), one a techo-thriller, and one a new slant on urban fantasy (with two more about to publish).

I'm an avid reader, an out-of-control writer, and an editor who believes in helping authors reach that next level - whatever that might be.

Anyone out there want to chat?

Sounds like we have a lot in common. I retired in 2024 from working as a metallurgical engineer, and while my main group of books are high fantasy, I've written a techno-thriller and a "pre-history" about the Great Pyramid. How did you come to switch genres?

Matthew Devitt | 9 comments Hi everyone,

I'm the author of Conquest and I've always had a love for fantasy, and to this day LOTR and The Inheritance Cycle remain some of my favorite books. There are limitless possibilities when you're writing, but with fantasy, it's different. You don't have to adhere to rules or logic; you can create whatever type of world you want. Characters can live in a dystopian society, a grand futuristic city, a picture-perfect world, or a medieval wasteland. Time, technology, and magic are all there for the taking, and as a writer, you get to choose what defines your story.
It's nice to meet all of you!
