message 2757: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Toliver | 4 comments Hi all. I am an indie author. I have published 4 books, 3 novels and 1 inspirational. I am currently plodding through Caste and the trilogy North and South. I am plodding because the topics are tough and personal and lead me to contemplate and compare past and present.

I do love to read, primarily a wide range of fiction, history and some biographies/memoirs. I also love to journal. I will try to help other authors in this space. I know how important it is to get reviews.

message 2758: by ESME (new)

ESME RALDA | 5 comments Hi everyone...I am debut author Esmeralda and I recently published my first novella, a Romance Erotica of about 12K words. I plan to try writing in other sub-genres of Romance and also fantasy in the future.

Before being a writer, I am primarily a book addict. I love reading and have tried various genres, but my favorite ones are Romance & Fantasy. Happy to have found a community full of authors & reviewers. I am understanding the importance & difficulty in getting genuine reviews now that I am on the other side as an author, and not a reader.

message 2759: by Ololade (new)

Ololade Abdullahi | 1 comments My name is Lola. As an introvert, I find that writing allows me to express myself more effectively than speaking. I have a unique perspective, particularly in the realm of psychology, where I tend to see the world differently. I often analyze situations deeply, understanding emotions in ways that might not align with conventional views. Writing provides me with the clarity and space to articulate these insights, making it easier to communicate ideas that might be challenging to convey through words alone.

message 2762: by Anabelle (new)

Anabelle (glassmenagerie_) Hello all. You may refer to me as Morrow.

I am a reviewer, and will pick up just about any book as long as it is a productive read.
A productive read is categorized as one or more of three things: beta reading and writing critique, analysis, and enjoyment.

Hope to see you all around!

message 2763: by H. (last edited Aug 22, 2024 09:08PM) (new)

H. (toastandtea2) Hi - I'm Hannah. I'm a reader and Kindle convert with KU who loves to read cozy fantasy, romantasy, smut, historical fiction, horror, mysteries/thrillers. I'm just getting over a five year reading slump and I thought I'd like to support indie authors. I like to write honest & funny reviews full of memes & GIFs.

My biggest criteria right now is that it I'd like it to be Fall set/spooky/horror/what have you but besides that here are some things I tend to like in general books. Some tropes I haven't tried yet so I have no idea what I'd like.

Spicy, though maybe not so focused on PIV or 🍆? Oral is nice. ❤
NICE heroes
fantasy romance with unconventional heroes (forest gods? cryptids? etc)
Disabled heroines (mute is even better but no one writes those)
Highlanders
Time travel
Long sprawling historical fiction or fantasy
Sexy doctors
Folk horror/midwest settings
Witches
Scotland or Ireland
Set in the woods
Dark fairytales
Thrillers with good plot
Childfree couples/women
Protective heroes/rescue scenes
"what did he do to you?" trope
"touch her and die" trope

what I DON'T like:
anything remotely non consensual between mmc & fmc
PIV and super emphasis on 🍆
hyper independent heroine just because
bad love triangles

feel free to DM me, but please don't be pushy.

Itaye Kasuba | 1 comments Hey there, I'm Itaye, a writer of romance and drama. I recently released my novel; Passion, Motives, and Choices. A story that dives deep into the complexities of love, desire, and the decisions we make when our hearts are on the line. You can find it on Amazon here https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DDM2F63.... I am looking for honest reviews for this book.

I also dabble in poetry, where I explore the delicate and intense emotions that come with love, loss, and everything in between. I believe in the power of words to inspire, heal, and connect us all.

When not creating my own stories and words, I binge-read historical romance and billionaire romance novels—there’s just something about the allure of the past and the charm of a powerful love story that keeps me turning the pages late into the night.

A good love story for me is one that involves at least one imperfect person, and is deep on emotions. If you have written or come across such a book, please share with me, thanks.

Jacob | 3 comments Hi everyone! I'm a Sci Fi and Fantasy author. I just recently put out Blast Protocol, the first in a series about a teenager who gets in a car accident and wakes in a post apocalyptic future with a cyborg body, partial amnesia, and an arm cannon, and slowly figures out what's going on and how he needs to save the world. It's very Megaman/Astroboy inspired.

I love writing stories with lots of heart, but also with big action stepieces as well. I love twists and mysteries, and I love when stories reward the reader for paying attention and being invested. I love it when emotional arcs line up with power progression, and the stakes keep going up, until you have these tense, over-the-top sequences where everything's on the line.

If you get what I'm talking about, you might like my books.

J. (jguenther) | 19 comments Hi. I'm J Guenther. I'm 85, but I still have a memory like one of those big grey animals. I have BS and MS degrees from USC in Chemical Engineering. I studied psychology from 2011 to 2013 to write my WWII Jung vs Hitler thriller, "In the Mouth of the Lion," and my "Fuehrer Detection Kit." I have attended over 3,500 Twelve Step meetings, and have written seven psychology monographs.

In my career as an engineer, I worked in aerospace (Saturn S-IVB), robotics, toxic site remediation, plastics, construction and petroleum industries. I addressed the 1989 EPA Forum on Innovative Hazardous Waste Treatment Technologies.

As a writer, I've created 26 works for the stage, three computer books, four journal articles, 50 short stories, and 5 and 7/8 novels. I will eventually publish an anthology titled "Look! A Squirrel! and consisting of first chapters of my many unfinished novels." My classical three-act play, "Midnight in the Temple of Isis," and many of my short works have been performed in theaters from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara.

My screenplay, "Unforsaken," reached the semifinals in Screencraft’s Shorts Competition. My fantasy work, "Sorcerer of Deathbird Mountain," was nominated for best novel at the 2005 Santa Barbara Writers Conference. I love puzzles and hold two US patents. I love dancing to CCR and acting. I cannot sing, but I can yodel.

Proofs of my psychology book, "Why Alcoholics Relapse," are being printed this week by KDP. I could use reviews, preferably by someone in the field. (I had a Psych PhD student helping me with it, but he came down with Covid and was unable to continue.) The book text comes to about 18,000 words/79 pages, not counting front and back matter, in 12 pt Crimson Font. Anyone interested?

Dear Sara,

Would you be interested in Teen Fiction with Heart Pounding Mystery? My name is Reina Sasaki, and I’m the author of THIS SHAPE IS MY HEART, a YA School Life, with the story about girls friendship.

Synopsis — Kotori sent the crane origami on New Year’s Day. Receiving the origami, Sae, who had come from Tokyo to see her, was dazzled by it. Suspicious of this visitor’s motive, Airi began to investigate and discovered Sae’s dark past, and the danger she might represent them.

“I am the person without a heart,” said the girl from Tokyo.

Airi tried to warn her friend in countless ways.

But Kotori refused to listen, and she said to Sae. “I want to fold origami for you.”

This Shape Is My Heart is a novel about possibilities. It explores the volatility of affection among young friends and fascination with those special people that sometimes capture our attention out of nowhere. A narrative about LOYALTY, FRIENDSHIP, CURIOUSITY, and LOVE in all its complexities, the novel will draw in readers by making them rethink and re-evaluate both their closest relationships and those evasive ones that ended too soon.

I can offer you a Paperback copy, as well as Ebook in EPUB or PDF format.

For more information, please use this link https://www.amazon.com/This-Shape-Hea... , Or on GOODREADS https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

If this sounds like a book that might capture your interest for the next reviewing project, it would be my great honor to work with you. To learn my about my work, you may visit my website https://reina-sasaki.mailchimpsites.com

Thanks very much for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I'm new to this website/group and needed some advice. I've published a book and wanted some honest advice about it. It's a children's book for kids aged 7-12 - it's called 'The 6 Young Titans and the race to stop the wacky scientist.'
I also need some amazon reviews but I'm worried that people will leave 1 star reviews which would tarnish my efforts on creating this book.
Any advice or guidance would be hugely appreciated.
Kind regards

Craig Stone | 1 comments Hello,

Introducing myself here, as per the group rules. I've recently published my new novel, The Last March of the Pirate Snails. It's about a sick girl called Hope who finds a tunnel beneath her hospital bed which transports her into the mind of a snail.

I'm looking for readers/reviewers, like everyone here, ha.

Every 17th syllable in my book is a rhyme. Because of the style, the novel has taken over 4 years to complete, but I can't find anyone to read it.

If anyone out there happens to read this and is looking for something different, a book with an original story told in a truly unique way, please get in touch.

The book is for anyone who loves the beauty of a crafted sentence, it's an emotional slow crawl into marriage, parenting and facing the impossible - saying goodbye to a child, and a child saying goodbye to life. With snails.

Please message me here or my email is craig@wordsofstone.co.uk

Thank you,

Craig.

Curt Finch | 1 comments Hi everyone,

Introducing myself to the group and I'm excited to meet my fellow authors! My name is Curt Finch and I recently published my book "Montjoy," a dark, historical mystery now available from Alternative Book Press.

Synopsis: When a Nazi diary is found at the Mauthausen Memorial in Austria, it is entrusted to a Jewish professor in England who encounters a fantastic tale of a masked vigilante taking revenge against the Gestapo on the eve of WWII. Written by a camp guard and former detective in the Berlin Criminal Police, the diary describes one man’s collision course with history, from the trenches of the Somme to the cabarets of Berlin to the crematoriums of Mauthausen, and the graveyards he left behind. As the professor dives deeper, he discovers the author is not who he seems, and the diary might be a suicide note masking an even greater mystery. This forces the professor to confront his own son’s suicide, a mystery he has never truly solved.

message 2800: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Heartland | 1 comments My name is Stephen Heartland. I have a vaccine injured daughter. This injury resulted in me doing extensive research into the subject of vaccines and healthcare. I have a few ideas and solutions for existing problems within our healthcare system.

I have written a book titled: Louis Pasteur Condemns Big Pharma: Vaccines, Drugs, and Healthcare in the United States. The link for my paperback and E-book on Amazon is: https://www.amazon.com/author/stephen...

A brief synopsis: I wrote this book because it is my belief that children are being hurt by the current CDC vaccination schedule in a systemic way. The exponential increase in autism and other childhood diseases since the 1970s and 1980s provides clear evidence that something is wrong within the system. As I delved deeper into my research, I noticed other glaring problems within science and healthcare in the United States that needed to be addressed.

The goal of this book is not only to declare what the problems in the system are, but to show how we can solve these problems. The 16 solutions within this book outline a path to solve these problems. This book is a voyage to the beginning of lab created vaccines and focuses on the greatest scientist of all time, Louis Pasteur. Then it exposes the corruption which is occurring every day in science, medicine, and healthcare in the United States. This book is an essay which covers history, science, healthcare, and politics.

The E-book will be free on Amazon on December 1,2, and 3. The direct link for the E-book is here: https://www.amazon.com/LOUIS-PASTEUR-...

There is a Goodreads Giveaway for my paperback from 11/20 to 12/20. I will be giving away 16 autographed copies. Please look for my title and the summary which is as follows:

RAISE AWARENESS. SOLVE PROBLEMS. SAVE CHILDREN. The US healthcare system and the CDC recommended vaccine schedule are injuring children in unnecessary and systemic ways.

My blog and quotes can be found right here on Goodreads. I have begun to share the personal side of my story, along with excerpts from my book.

Please help me to spread the word. It takes more than a book to initiate change, it takes people who care. Please help save children.
