R.M. Harrington | 5 comments Hello, readers

I'm about to reveal my age. My first published work appeared as a programming language review in a 1988 release of the Atari Explorer. It actually sold to two different magazines at once. Thus I had to confess to multiple submissions. The nice lady editor at Explorer contacted the other editor and settled the conflict without problems. After that, I began getting software from both editors, each seeking my writing and review talents.

In 1989, I published my first fiction story in a local magazine called The Charlotte Spectrum. After several more published submissions, the Spectrum began listing my name as the fiction editor. I had nothing to do with actually editing any work but my own. Go figure.

Then I started programming full time. A terrible thing happened. I found that the programming sapped my creative energy. For years, the stories build up in my mind but lacked time to go on paper.

Ten years ago, the dam busted. I retired from programming and took up content writing as a side job. That worked well until those stories in my head started screaming for release.

I now write science fiction for myself and for the joy of any who take time to read the work. Problem is, I have no sells skills, so the books lay idol without readers of reviews.

That's why I here. I need readers and reviewers.

Please take a moment to check out my latest work on Amazon. To do the Look Inside, you're have to open the paperback version. From some reason, Amazon can't seem to get it working on the Kindle version.

Hi, Jeffrey.

Are you interested in reviewing a tale featuring youths, adults, lost memories, and a host of distinctively different characters, all engaged in multiple plot lines and associated enemies? I just released Abomination of Lost Memories, and need honest reviewers to post on Amazon and Goodreads, good, bad, or ugly.

It Came to Me on a Whim - The Story of Ingeborg Andersson, Child Murderess by Maria Bouroncle
Hi Rowan,
Since you're particularly interested in non-fiction, memoirs and history, I figured you may be interested in my debut "It Came to Me on a Whim – The Story of Ingeborg Andersson, Child Murderess" which was recently published in English. This fall it will be used on the Scandinavian Crime Literature course at the University of California in Los Angeles.

I'm a Swedish writer who lives in Washington DC, so it may take a while for a physical copy to arrive to Australia, but I'd be happy to send you a book it you're interested in writing a review?

"It Came to Me on a Whim" tells the story of my great-aunt who killed her three children at the age of twenty-seven in Western Sweden in the spring of 1929. Through exhaustive research, I’ve strived to shed light on what led up to this tragedy, which had been a tightly guarded family secret for over seventy years.

“Maria Bouroncle takes us deep into a story of real-life murder to show us the humanity – even love – behind the crime. A riveting read – haunting, atmospheric, and ultimately, heart-breaking”, writes Manil Suri, bestselling author of "The Death of Vishnu", and a former contributing author at the New York Times .

You can DM me on Goodreads or send me an email at info@mariabouroncle.com if you're interested.
All the best, Maria

Kira FlowerChild (kiraflowerchild) Hi, I'm Kira, a vintage hippie flower child. I've written almost 600 reviews on Goodreads since I joined in 2014. Mostly my reviews are to remind me of what the book was about and/or whether I liked it, so I don't end up reading the same book twice. After a couple of years, the titles and descriptions for most books seem to blur together.

I have also been a writer, although it's been many years since I've written anything. I've done a fair bit of editing and that is often what I comment on in my reviews - editing or the lack thereof.

I would love to correspond with readers and/or writers. Just drop me a line on Goodreads' email. Thanks.

message 2475: by Patti (new)

Patti Flinn (patti_flinn) | 2 comments Hi Everyone!

I'm an author and I find it difficult that most of the author/reader groups require you to actively participate in conversations. Some have a minimum number of conversations you must be in before you can promote your book.

Am I the only author who holds down a full-time job? I barely have time to write so whenever I read that many conversations are required before an author can mention their work, I have to bow out. It's not that I don't want to--I'd love to connect with people-- it's just really not practical for them to always expect working writers to be able to participate in the same manner as readers.

So this group is refreshing in that I don't have to feel bad for immediately saying I want reviewers! But I'm just introducing myself in this post :-). Happy to meet everyone!

Jonathan Taylor (jonathan_taylor19) | 5 comments Hello everyone,

I go by my pen name of Jonathan Taylor. I am an author, with a book I've published last year and one on the way, the first two of a planned seven-book fantasy series.

Aside from that, I also read and review books quite regularly, but I post them in bunches here on GoodReads, usually around the end of the month. I might change that next year, perhaps. It depends on how well I can marry my work and personal life with the new conditions it can encounter.

Looking forward to all this group has to offer.

My work can be heavy and abstract, but also whimsical and touching. Looking forward to making connections. Cheers!

Lydia Taiwo | 6 comments Hello everyone.
I am new to this club. I am based in London UK.
I started reading non fiction books as a way to learn how to write my own memoir. I got the book published by a publisher in the UK.
My reason for writing was part of my therapy to help recover from abuse as a child and PTSD.
As part of my counselling my next task was to change my story and I have now found a safe haven in writing children's picture books.
I have taken to reading children's books again as a result, and find this to be my safe haven genre at present.
I have 6 children, the youngest is 17.

Josephine Calabrese
Being a Chicagoan all my life, I grew up in a melting pot of immigrants. My father was born in Italy. As for my mother, she was born in Chicago from immigrant parents from Italy. Many immigrants settled near the lake front when they arrived in Chicago, as did my father. My maternal grandparents settled in Louisiana and relocated to Chicago. With urban renewal, eminent domain, many immigrants had to relocate, as did my family.

My parents stressed education and I discovered a love for reading and writing at an early age. My education has been in a Catholic School System throughout my grammar school, highschool, and college years. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education (K-9).(Certification) I've enjoyed teaching in various school systems in the city and suburbs.

Thus far, I've published a poetry book entitled READ WITH YOUR HEART AND SOUL. I've also written the lyrics to the songs entitled AN IMMIGRANT MAN AND HIS FAMILY and MY LONGING which are from poems you'll find in my poetry book entitled READ WITH YOUR HEART AND SOUL. The songs are presently in MP3 format. Also, check out the three humorous fiction books I've written entitled CONFESSOR JOE, CONFESSOR JOE BOOK TWO, and CONFESSOR JOE BOOK THREE which are in e-reader form. If you are interested in fiction/mystery/horror books, check out HORRORS RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL FLOORS/HORRORS RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL FLOORS BOOK TWO which is a Kindle Book.

When I'm not reading, writing, teaching, and publishing, I enjoy gardening, swimming, and traveling. When I travel, I prefer seeing what life is truly like in a location, studing the culture

and economic conditions of an area.
